A lot of people don't realize that Barnum and Bailey was not the only circus going. There are still circuses in operation, and some even still have elephants.

This didn't answer shit! Do they qualify for unemployment? Does the company give them a housing allowance or severance? Do they get a flight to wherever home may be (if one existed outside that train)? No one showed the human side of this show closing. I wanted to know how these performers prepared themselves for that. It's like you work and live in a hotel that closes one day. What do you do?

Actually I heard zoos are there to protect animals from people trying to hunt them into extinction, at least that's what the San Diego zoo does. I'm not sure about others

Most circus animals were treated better than the workers. Beloved pets. Family. Abused animals won't perform, after all... they'll either cower in fear or attack.
