All great optics and film making ....but, In reality - the most consequential Queen of England - and very probably the only one who would equal Cate Blanchette for beauty, Elizabeth I for a highly educated and natural fierce defiance and Henry VIII for bloody-minded wilfulness was Queen Isabella - the daughter of the greatest of French Kings Philip IV the Fair.
Like Victoria's Empire 500 years later, France bestrode the world like a colossus in 1300. Her armies had not known many defeats in Europe for 800 years, 80% of European royalty was related to the Capetians, the Ile de France's gothic architecture had converted all of Europe, the great scholars of Europe ALL attended Paris for education, and all the world read of the exploits of God through his beloved Franks a.k.a the Crusades - just recently ended. The Pope himself had been compelled to relocate to the borders of the most Christian Kings of France at Avignon.
This all changed in the 100 years war, when her son at her insistence refused to perform homage to Philip VI for Gascony - the inheritance from another great Queen, Eleanor of Aquitaine. To quote Isabella "the son of a Queen does not do homage to the son of a Count"
Without Edward III there would be no glory and certainly no Shakespeare. Just as defeat in WW1 would have meant no glory and no Beatles - for England.
Anyway - for a few quid you can get Alison Weir's incomparable "Isabella, She-Wolf of France" - (even better get the audiobook 22 hours long perfectly read by Lisette Lecat) and actually - the truth really does become stranger than fiction.
Also - Her incredible story (and her lover Roger Mortimer and her father Philip IV and her cousins and nieces and nephews) is told in six (+1) books by the great french author Maurice Druon in the EPIC and twice adapted for French TV "Les Rois Maudits" (The Accursed Kings) and the real inspiration for game of thrones.
Again you can get these all brilliantly read (in English translation) on audiobooks by Peter Joyce.

@@xLadyMary If you want to be technical there have been 6 Queens of England, Mary I, Elizabeth I, Mary II, Anne, Victoria, and Elizabeth II. The rest were Consorts, wives of Kings. That is because a Queen can be both, a King's wife and a ruler in her own right. A husband of a Queen Regnant, with rare exceptions is not a King. Mary I's husband was given the title King, as he was also heir and then King of Spain, and Mary II's husband Prince William of Orange, her first cousin and also grandson of King Charles I, was asked to be co-monarch with Mary as King William III, he remained on the throne after her death as they did not have children. Absolutely love the transitions between Elizabeth of York and Catherine of Aragon for some reason; this was wonderful, but that was my favourite, especially with the transitions between the young Catalina of The Spanish Princess and the older Catherine of The Tudors. And thank you for putting Lady Jane among them; she may have only ruled for nine days, but she got perhaps the shortest stick of them all, and is mainly remembered for her beheading. She was essentially a child, used as a pawn for men, much like Catherine Howard, but everyone seems to forget that.

I think Margaret Beaufort should’ve been in this video as well. Btw your video is creative and I know in europe queen mothers not as influential as eastern empires. Also, yes, she wasn’t a crowned queen but she was one of the the most powerful women in british royalty. In Ottoman History, emperor’s mothers was primary at royal rank. I think Margaret was the founder of the Tudor dynasty. I’m totally impressed from her resilience and decisiveness. She deserves a thorough tribute.

@@twinbulls1980 The only one I know of is "The Favorite" about Queen Anne in the early 1700's, she was the only Stuart Queen to rule in her own right. After her it was the Hanovarians, which turned into the Saxe-Coburg (Victoria and Albert) then the Windosrs (during WWI due to anti German sentiment).

Very nice compilation. I would like perhaps a future video including more than one version of the queens who started out young but got older and changed appearance. You did this for Katherine of Aragon, showing her young in "The Spanish Princess" and older in "The Tudors." I would have liked to see a little of the late great Katharine Hepburn as her Oscar-winning Eleanor of Aquitaine, and perhaps Genevieve Bujold as Anne Boleyn and Lynne Frederick as Catherine Howard. But do we have a portrayal anywhere of the young Eleanor? It's pretty shocking if we don't, because she had perhaps the most remarkable career of any queen consort, becoming both Queen of France and Queen of England, and I believe lived the longest, making it to 82, an astonishing age for the time. And had been a queen since she was 15! Also perhaps an older version of Mary Tudor, when she became Queen. I suggest Jane Lapotaire, who portrayed Mary in the film "Lady Jane," but the 1998 film "Elizabeth," from which you show Care Blanchett, also features Queen Mary at the beginning, though I do not recall the name of the actress who played her. But Jane Lapotaire looks more like Mary, I think.

The Queens of the Anglo-Saxon Kings of England deserve recognition. Maybe you can include them as well? IIRC, Edward the Elder of Wessex is the first King of England. You need to do Queens after Lizzy I in another video. Anne absolutely deserves recognition.

I love this edit and it actually helps me when I have to remember which queen was first on throne, which was second and things like that. It's easier to me to recognize queens bz acters from tv show than bz historz pictures because all of them looks same

It would kinda be pointless since so few of them are represented . They could only use -
      Anne from 'The Favourite'
      Charlotte from 'Bridgerton'
Victoria from the several movies about her
Mary of Teck and Elizabeth Bowes Lyon from the crown
Elizabeth II also from the Crown
-The rest of them , Mary II , Catherine of Braganza , Mary of Modena , Anne Hyde , Caroline of Brunswick , Adelaide , Alexandra , etc have no representarion
