As a Warriors fan this is such an amazing, inspiring and heartwarming story, the dedication this man put in and the amount the Blazers gave back to him is such a special moment and it made me smile watching this. I have so much more respect for the Blazers organization and their fanbase that I will root for them in every game they play except against my Warriors obviously and the Bulls since they’re my dads team, I really hope this man along with his fellow blazer fans get to witness their team win a championship in the future y’all deserve one.

This is crazy because I did the same thing years ago. I live in Alabama and though I love the NBA there were no franchises super close to me. So I wrote to every team to basically see who wanted me as a fan. I actually got several responses but by far and away the best response was from the Utah Jazz who sent me two yearbooks, a shirt, a hat, and a letter saying they would love for me to be a fan. Fast forward a few years and I am the biggest Jazz fan in Alabama now.
But no one saw you.

Becket magazines used to have all the teams addresses in the back of them. When I was a kid I would send letters with a letter, self addressed stamped envelope, and 2 cards of the player inclosed to my favorite players. I told them in the letter that one of the cards was for them to keep and one to sign and send back to me. Many times I would receive the card signed and returned. A few players even wrote me a note back. All the players that did respond made a little boy living in the sticks of Tennessee very happy and a fan for life.

Amazing video, Cosgrove! Definitely one of the best channels on CZcams. Here’s a cool story:
In 1999 (5th grade), when students got a perfect score on a test, did something nice, etc. our teachers would give us something called “Bonus Bucks”. At the end of each semester, our class would hold an auction with the fun money for donated items from parents (trading cards, toys, etc).
To begin the school year (August/September), we were given an assignment to write our favorite NFL team and one celebrity/athlete. I wrote the Dallas Cowboys and, my favorite player of all time, Michael Jordan. If they sent anything back, we would get to keep the letter and any smaller items, but the main item had to be put into our class auctions for bidding. Luckily, the Cowboys responded right away. They were nice enough to send a team photo with facsimile autographs which had to be put into our class auction. I got to keep the letter and two 5x7 pictures of Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith.
Fast forward to April, I came inside from recess and there was a big envelope on my desk. I approached my desk and saw the Jumpman logo. I immediately started to cry haha not only because Jordan is the GOAT, but it was my birthday too! Inside was a letter, a “rules card” on how to succeed in school, and five 8x10 pictures with facsimile autographs of Jordan’s final shot in the 1998 Finals. The teachers clearly understood my love for Jordan and were nice enough to let me keep the letter, the rules card, and one photo. The other 4 went into the auction.

In the early to mid 1990s the sports card price guide Beckett had a directory of every franchise and the address to write your favorite team and players. Almost every player I sent a card to wrote back. You’d send them a letter, card to sign, and a SASE to them and almost always I got a signed card back. I don’t even care if they were auto pens or a secretary signing these cards. It was so cool to get these cards sent back. The first player I tried this with was Joe Montana in his first season with Kansas City. Then Elway, Marino, Young, Bledsoe, Aikman, ect all followed. This was a great story. Brought back memories of a subject I haven’t thought about in decades.
