I wish Hammond was driving a Challenger or a Viper! I'm not sure how many people noticed but Jeremy in the Corvette ZR1, Richard in a Mopar and James in the CTS-V was a throwback to the Top Gear USA muscle car road trip when they drove the predecessors of the exact same cars. I sooo would've paid to see them redo that road trip with the new cars!
Yeah true… but that was copying the guy from Almost Famous (even had his arms stretched the same way) when he takes a bunch of acid at a teenagers party, refuses to go back to the band and is standing on the roof proclaiming he was the golden god, I even have always assumed Dennis copied the movie…. It’s when he is coming down and still not talking to the band when Tiny Dancer comes in the radio and they sing it together and everything is ok.
Really wish we got a full review and test of the ZR1. As much as I love the specials and am glad to know we will have one more adventure, I do miss a simple track test/review.
I doubt it would ever happen but now that The Grand Tour is over I would LOVE to see them return to Top Gear just for one final season before they end the show for good. One last season back in the hanger and the three on the legendary test track. No big budget over the top specials, just the simple and silly cheap car challenges and track reviews before they call it a day and Top Gear retires with the trio. As it should always have ended
