I really believe that 100 years from now, if the world continues to function with technology and electric to transmit music and old film footage to listen and view the music of Elvis, he will remain a star. Each generation will discover him and bring new fans to Elvis. Maybe by then there will be his equal, but I doubt it.

You have just witnessed a devastated Elvis singing out his soul to honor his assassinated friends, Dr. Martin Luther King, and Senator Bobby Kennedy who was also a fierce fighter for human rights and equality. Watch the video "Elvis Presley and the Black Community" and that will give you an good idea of how Elvis fought his heart out for the innocent downtrodden.. He grew up dirt poor and hung out with African Americans who loved him as much as he loved them. He was a force for good, and it hurts to see him called a racist. He was a courageous fighter all of this life. I love that man. i'm new..

Yet it’s sad that it was/is still happening today. I’m in this fight until Christ calls me home. We have too honor our fallen by continuing what they paved for us. We are a Unified Front over here! All ethnicities are coming together in a honorable way by mirroring Gods image. This is a Spiritual Battle for sure! God is on our side! 1people1Luv

Wonderful reaction Munroe! Fun fact: one of his back-up singers said "when Elvis chose a new song he spent time alone with it until it was engrained in his heart". He was very sensitive to other people's feelings. I heard him say in a rehearsal "I get carried away very easily. I'm an emotional s.o.b."

This song was especially written for Elvis after the director and musical director of 68 Special saw Elvis’ emotional response to Bobby Kennedy’s assassination on the back of the tragic assassination of MLK, which also affected Elvis very badly. Elvis sang this song to close out the Special. After recording this song Elvis vowed to never again sing a song he didn’t believe in. He went on to do the iconic Memphis Sound Studio recordings a few months later.

**TRANSCRIBED TEXT FROM MUHAMMAD ALI'S AMAZING SPEECH at Elvis' Memorial Service - "We black people are kinda funny about music. We aren’t going to follow someone unless they’ve got some Soul. Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Micheal Jackson, but, the only white boy that had soul and could sing as good as ANY of them was Elvis. A lot of great singers who are black, but, one man literally as good as anybody, put all those brothers together there’s none any better than Elvis Presley. Singing ability, he a had everything, and he was pretty, I know. And when it comes to boxing nobody has the class, the style, the wit, the speed and beauty of Ali. And when it comes to singing nobody had everything like Elvis. And the last thing, we must understand, he did lot for poor people, he cared for people, he had a good heart, he just wasn't a person who was great with talent, but he was great in spirit and with God in his heart, and this is great too. I realize how good I am in my profession, I wouldn't praise nobody if he don't deserve it, because I am the greatest of all time in boxing, in boxing. I said boxing ! But I'm telling you, not just you all, the Elvis fans, so naturally you praise Elvis, he's of European race as you are, but I'm Black, I'm a Islamic, I'm 100% different from you. But I’ll tell the world Elvis was the greatest of all time. I'm a Muslim who's black who stands up for what he believes. I don't have to say what I don't feel, I'm not false, I don't have to say this. I have no Bosses. I'm free. He to me, is one of the greatest singers, actors and all round men of all time.” ~ Look on CZcams for it -- it be great to react to. And its on video.

Elvis and Ali were very close. They connected spiritually. And Ali considered Elvis similar to a spiritual advisor, as James Brown did. But they also connected as brothers and friends. They both liked fighting. Ali the greatest boxer that ever lived and Elvis, an 8th degree black belt with incredible speed and flexibility and technique. Ali loved Elvis' support of the civil rights movement something he considered very important back in those days. Without a doubt they loved each other.

When I finally realize the significance of the message of this song it just made me love it even more and no one could have ever made such a statement in 1968 but Elvis Presley... the passion and truth in his voice is legendary.

There was so much passion for change back then. People died for our freedom to vote. We can’t even get people to educate themselves, learn about systemic racism and vote. Vote for the leaders that say they will change these things and if they don’t - vote them out. But need to make sure they are not having their hands tied by the system as well - and may need another term with a different balance in congress to actually accomplish it. But need to be aware - know what’s going on. Not to be fooled and vote against your own best interest. Our Leaders do what get’s them re-elected and get’s them $. If doing what we want get’s the re-elected - that is what they will do. But right now what is working for them is lies. We are still, technically but barely, a Democracy: FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE." If we can keep it. But when the people aren’t paying attention and voting… someone comes in and tries (almost does) take it away by turning us more against each other with hate and lies. And watching himself raise in power to undermine us - and using some of us to do it. Start by watching/recording 1hr -Watch the new show: News Nation with Cuomo (Chris Cuomo) is the one we trust to start us forward. He has worked for Fox and CNN. He knows the game.
This is where we pick it back up! And at the very least, for the times right now, go on line register, wait for your voting info to come in the mail… and VOTE Democratic!

There is constant mention of Elvis "collapsing" regarding this song, that he was crying when he sang (which in itself is ridiculous when you look closely at his face); song writer Earl Brown said while Elvis recorded the song, he saw tears rolling down the cheeks of the backing vocalists; Brown wrote If I Can Dream with Presley in mind; people like to think he was so over-the-top w-heartbreak that he near passed out; that's not to say he was not upset, saddened, concerned, etc.; it does say that people like to think his grief caused him to collapse; pls see "Gates of Graceland: Secrets of the '68 Special" at czcams.com/video/IZuVaRJZwcY/video.html (which is long) & go to 20:44 to approx.28:05 for the story of If I Can Dream & his lying on the floor; your words about Elvis' "rich, strong, powerful, range" is spot on -- especially about the "passion" he had; i've never listened to nor watched any singer w-those qualities; thank you very much.

Hi sweetheart, love the reaction, you're going to get the 5k with Elvis, and Elvis always wanted each fan to feel that he was singing just for them. You can feel the passion in his voice, and it hits your soul, like no other artists have or will be able to do. Elvis is in a class by himself, untouched to this day, 45yrs later. I'm enjoying your reactions to Elvis, react to Elvis singing Walk a mile in my shoes and Just Pretend please. Thank you Munroe. TCb 1935 🤺🤺🤺⚡⚡⚡🙏🙏🙏🙏 👑👑👑

Anyone who thinks Elvis was some racist hillbilly needs to watch this. There are a lot of stories out there of him fighting racism everywhere he went. He wasn't ripping off a genre. The fact that he became a huge star singing music created by black people wasn't his fault - it was society's fault for not taking guys like Chuck Berry and Fats Domino seriously and the fact that it took a white guy for the music to be accepted is horrible and awful, but not on Elvis. He actually had a group of black ladies, fantastic singers, as his backup vocalists called The Sweet Inspirations and there are stories of him standing up for them against racist hotel managers who didn't want to let them stay there. "If they don't stay here, I don't stay here." Elvis didn't screw around with racism.

the tragedy with Elvis was.. his great talent was wasted making those formula movies after Blue Hawaii.. he never lost his voice nor range.. he was simply given lousy material from those movies.. as this special has proven he never lost his groove when given the chance..

yes, but only very briefly, as she (Mom) states in her interview because she wanted to stay home w-her children, but Whitney liked to say ( & did say) her mother was w-him for years, which is not correct
