- I checked out BOTH of the workprints for Halloween: Resurrection which was originally called Halloween The Homecoming. Both cuts feature new or altered scenes that are nothing like the final product. Some of the deleted scenes were never even released officially. What as I explore all the changes, breakdown the different endings, and finally comments on the missing Tyra Banks Death scene!

The singing children when Michael stares at Laurie’s bed are from the opening scene of Dario Argento’s Deep Red. My mind is absolutely blown.
THATS WHY IT WAS FAMILIAR!
Only checked the comment section to see if this was posted already. It also plays before every planned kill in Deep Red and is used as the killer's motif. In that context, it makes sense why they chose to use it in the workprint.
This is why this CZcams series is so damn good.

Tony's HACK THE HALLOWEEN series has been a lot of fun.
I remember Rick Rosenthal said he had the idea that they should release Resurrection in theaters with the different endings, that way audiences wouldn't know which ending was the true one. Basically, doing Clue but with Michael Myers.
I remember Rosenthal calling this Halloween if it was directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Somehow I fail to accept Hitchcock would ever have his villain Kung Fu-ed to death.
The work print actually has some decent stuff
Honestly the stock sound effects make it more cartoony which I welcome and nobody talks about that one arm pullup, good stuff

Honestly hoping he keeps these up. No offenss to Tony, I just enjoy the information density of these over hour plus reviews. I know most people probably don't sit any watch those with their eyes glued to the screen but that's how my brain consumes CZcams. There's so many interesting work prints out there and I don't know that there's too many people digging through them to review.

Ressurection never fails to split my sides. And for that it's a dubiously great sequel

I’m actually a huge Halloween Resurrection fan and I’m currently working on a fan film sequel called Halloween Retribution here’s the plot synopsis.
Michael Myers roams free around Haddonfield again after the events of Halloween Resurrection, to haunt the survivors of his previous massacre and traumatize a new generation while the son of Laurie Strode, John Tate, goes to Haddonfield with the idea that the Shape is still alive and seeks out Leigh Bracket, to claim vengeance upon the masked killer.

Hey, you plan on telling anyone that you swiped this idea from the TAKING SHAPE vol 2 book? It's literally the same idea that Joe Harris (director of Darkness Falls) had for HIS sequel HALLOWEEN RETRIBUTION. Dude, if you're going to steal people's ideas, especially from a book us Halloween fans have read, at least admit it.
The workprint young Michael scene was included during the Halloween 25 Years of Terror intro
Once you notice the clown perfectly angled to look at you in the top left of the screen during the rental store segments, you can never un-see it lol

That opening was featured in a documentary, I think it was called Halloween 35 years of terror if I remember correctly, It talked about the whole franchise and was narrated by P.J. Soles.
seeing all these workprint cuts are awesome
I knew the script was out there,
But somehow had no idea an actual work print existed until today.
There’s a lot of scenes removed that would’ve made it feel more authentic to Halloween, as opposed to a generic 2000s slasher.
And while I personally love the original ending with Freddy saving the day,
There’s some genuine emotion that comes with the ending of this version, with him in the stretcher.
We don’t get to see him redeem himself, and be the hero,
But we end the film knowing he tried, and wishing he could have done more,
Leaving us knowing he’s going to be haunted by this for a long time,
But Sara’s forgiveness meaning the word to him nonetheless.
Some great character growth I wish we could’ve seen in the film.
That opening on young Michael with his family I remember when Res originally came out I bought a bootleg vhs from Chinatown and that was cut into the beginning oddly

Wow, Halloween: Homecoming is so much better than the version of Halloween: Resurrection that we actually got. The jokes are so much better in Homecoming. The only thing that’s better in Resurrection is the Busta Rhymes Kung-Fu ending. I really wish the theatrical version that we got was Homecoming but with the BRKF ending. It woulda been so ridiculously stupid, and I’m all for it!
I love most of the Friday The Thirteenth movies, (except 5 and 9 for obvious reasons), especially the goofy ones like 8 (where Jason punches a guy’s head off) and Jason X (where Jason beats one hologram girl in a sleeping bag to “death” with the OTHER hologram girl in a sleeping bag lmao). I much prefer that stupidity over the stupidity that Halloween is doing nowadays, like having a crowd of people (that knows what Michael Myers looks like) chasing a mental patient (that looks nothing like Michael Myers) and shouting “EVIL DIES TONIGHT” until the patient gets cornered and commits suicide. Or seeing a gay couple living in the Myers house, and following them throughout the movie until Michael shows up and murders them. Man… Halloween Kills is shit.

I think the ending where he grabs the cop was to be how he survived an axe to the face if they went with that one if there was a sequel.
Rick Rosenthal's Halloween II was saved through re-shoots and editing that cut out a ton of terrible dialogue and pointless scenes among the hospital staff, as well as the dumb and cheap Jimmy jumpscare ending (the tv version is basically Rosenthal's workprint and is just awful and I'm not even talking about the weird edits of that version).
Resurrection isn't anywhere near as bad as 5, Zombie's II, or Kills, but no amount of reshoots or edits could change Resurrection into being good lol
I remember seeing that "home movie" of the Myers family being used to open up the Halloween 25th anniversary documentary.
The only thing they couldve made, If this was a DVD game.
While watching the Part were they have the Go pro cameras, You can use the remote and put the Charecters POV
Even the webcam special has the scene where Jen head rolled down while Michael cut her from the angle

That's so funny... I remember back in the heyday of Horror Movie Websites they would release promotional pictures... The picture of Tyra with Michael was HUGE! Since it was the heyday of the Victoria Secrets Angels.... The the movie releases and her death of offscreen... They also released pictures of the couple in the woods....
I can almost swear I saw the alternate opening when I saw the film in theaters. I was 6 in 2002 and not tech savvy. I saw it somewhere. Maybe the dvd?
Maybe there's a thing among the distributors of these films where they hold off on adding some deleted scenes/bonus stuff to the home media release so they have another selling point when re-releasing a movie on home media. Probably not, but it's my best guess as to why some deleted scenes are or aren't included in some releases
I’m interested in trying to find this work print after watching this. I’m an apologist for Halloween Resurrection. It’s very entertaining despite its flaws. It’s a great time. Can’t wait to watch the Movie Dumpster review next 🎃🎃🔪🔪

I like Halloween 8 because I wasn't bored and it knows it's silly.
I'll have to double check, but I believe the limited blu-ray collectors edition has the family videos and Resurrection deleted scenes. It has all 8 original films, the producer's cut off 6, and the 2 Rob Zombie films were included.

I dont think I have watched Halloween: Resurrection since I bought the DVD back when the movie first came out.

It was NOT "Halloween: The Homecoming." It was just "Halloween: Homecoming" and the second 'o' in 'homecoming' and 'o' in Halloween were to be on top of each other to form an "8." And honestly, they should have kept that.
I always thought that song sounded like that Janet jackson song now I know why lol
I think I read somewhere that the song Tyra is dancing to in the theatrical cut was actually a song she recorded. Or they were going to go with one of her songs but ended up replacing it last minute. Anyone else remember that or am I making that up? 😛 By the way, these breakdowns of the workprint versus theatrical cuts are awesome!

I would have kept the Deckard ending but also combine it with the CSI ending and include part of the theatrical ending where Sarah attacks Michael with the chainsaw!

Honestly Resurrection definitely isn’t my least favourite Halloween. Is it great? Of course not however unlike 2018 and Kills (still to see Ends) it’s not a remake of other sequels and trying to pass themselves off as so fresh and original. 2018 is H20 and Kills is just an awful version of 4

We're just gonna review the rest of the alien movies individually since we already started. Also if you're new here just a heads up Newt was fired and will never be on the channel again. I'm hoping klayton comes out soon though I love doing the show with him!

It's amazing to think there's an even *worse* version of Halloween: Resurrection floating around out there.

@@devontehuntley6274 Most of the Halloween sequels are sub par only the first movie is amazing the rest range from good to alright. Halloween Resurrection is a silly movie its a routine B movie slasher no different then any of the Friday the 13th series. With a movie like that you want something silly that can entertain you Busta character knows what movie he is in without his silly character the movie would be bland as hell even more so then it already is as a routine slasher.
@@devontehuntley6274 The original movie is a suspense Hitchcock slasher based around atmosphere thats why its so highly regarded. The rest from 2 onward are just standard 80s slasher flicks focused more on low brow entertainment except for Halloween 3 which was a B movie Invasion of the Body Snatches homage.
@@devontehuntley6274 For the record though neither cut of Resurrection is a good movie but the difference between the 2 cuts is that the workrpint tries to play itself slightly more serious but the problem with that is Resurrection is inherently a silly B movie and when you try to take that type of movie serious it comes off looking worse because you don't know what type of film you have made. It's like if someone tried to make a serious version of Sharknado Resurrection is inherently from story alone a silly movie that never should have been made and the correct way to play a movie like that is to have fun with it similar to the later Friday the 13th movies which are also B movie schlock but entertaining because they know they are B movie schlock. The theatrical cut of the movie knows what it is and doesn't try to pretend to be anything else so the question is whats better a schlock movie that tries to be smarter but fails or a schlock movie that knows its schlock and plays more into it the answer is one that knows its schlock.
