There is an easier way now.. if you have the latest version there is a "cache audio effects" if you right click the audio clips in the edit tab. It does exactly what render in place does.
that option only works for cache, its not a "pre render", move the clip 1 frame and it has to calculate the cache again so it doesnt fulfil the purpose that render in place does for video.

Does this also applying to voice isolation? I have noticed that also can be tasking the cpu
