  • My first "3 chords" video in which I give an example of some of the many songs that can be played using the same three chords.
    All Guitar Videos - • RipTard's Guitar Video...
    The songs I play in order are:
    The Kingsmen - Louie Louie
    Steve Miller Band - The Joker
    Shaggy ft. Rayvon - Angel
    Jerry Lee Lewis - Great Balls of Fire
    Ritchie Valens - La Bamba
    Happy Birthday
    Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
    Jonas Brothers - Lovebug
    Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
    The All-American Rejects - Mona Lisa
    Savage Garden - Truly, Madly, Deeply
    Sheryl Crow - The First Cut is the Deepest
    Alison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All
    Sophie B. Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down
    Cat Stevens - Here Comes My Baby
    Ritchie Valens - Donna
    Uncle Kracker - Follow Me
    Mr. Big - To Be With You
    RipTard - Come On Baby, Make Me Some Food
    Hannes Coetzsee - Mahala
    The Cranberries - Dreams
    The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
    Third Eye Blind - Jumper
    Bryant Oden - Duck Song
    Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
    Tom Petty - Free Fallin'
    Don McLean - American Pie
    Hanson - MMMBop
    The Surfaris - Wipe Out
    The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight
    *A few notes about the three chords:
    1) Although all these songs use the three chords at one point or another, they may not be the three chords throughout the whole song.
    2) The actual songs are all normally in different keys - I transposed them all to G, D, and C for the purpose of this video.
    3) The songs in this video do not all use the three chords in the same order:
    -"Louie Louie" through "La Bamba" are G, C, D, C
    -"Happy Birthday" is G, D, G, C
    -"Sweet Home Alabama" is D, C, G
    -"The Middle" through "Mona Lisa" is G, D, C
    -"Truly, Madly, Deeply" through "Here Comes My Baby" are G, D, C, D
    -"Donna" through "The Duck Song" is G, C, D
    -"Brown Eyed Girl" through "The Lions Sleeps Tonight" are G, C, G, D
    Thanks to asiannotch for the logo design!

    Hush don't tell everyone. The majority of songs are all 3 to 4 chords even many Mozart pieces. That's the harmony part. The melody is written over those chords and usually involves only 3 to 4 notes. We musicians don't want the world to know that. We want them to think it is complex and that we are genuises. Lol.........

    • @diamondnova7598
      @diamondnova7598 Před 9 lety +14

      Except when you get into chromatic harmony then the progression expands

    • @Dreadlock1227
      @Dreadlock1227 Před 7 lety +6

      SHADOWMAN296 I mean if you're staying true to the key you're playing in, there's only 7 possible roots that you can base chords off of. And only 3 major chords and minor chords each so it's really not that complicated at all. Like if I'm trying to figure out a song in the key of G and I hear a minor chord, I know it has to be either Em, Bm or Am

    • @rubenapol9503
      @rubenapol9503 Před 7 lety +5

      SHADOWMAN296 Yeah but you forgot to mention that Mozart composed during the era of Classisism. Romantic music is far more complex and uses all the chords you can imagine. Same with a genre like Metal, where there are often very ingenious chords progressions

      +GwD Why do you think this vid has so many views? It's all the same chords! He is making it fun and entertaining : ) Credit where credit is due cranky pants ; )

    • @dolebiscuit
      @dolebiscuit Před 8 lety

      The extra instruments are to facilitate the lack of imagination that the majority of people have. He never said these songs only used 1 guitar and 3 chords.
      It doesn't matter what melody is played over the chords--the root notes are the same.

      Exactly. And most of those songs change inversions and change tonality and use various non chord tones in the melody and passing chords. This vid gives me cancer.

      Dank Chords dude it’s a fucking video to show how a bunch of popular songs have similar chords. It isn’t saying “ALL THESE SONGS ARE THE SAME” it’s pointing out similarities. Take the stick out of your ass.
