I did not see this when it came out and you may know by now, but the aerial heavy has a similar situation to the pre-patch Shisui Katana. It will not work on bots, but you can loop it against other players well beyond the usual 4 hit range kunai limit just by dashing forward after a hit and/or chakra jump canceling the landing into another aerial heavy. It is much harder to schmove into melee range while doing this compared to the prepatch Shisui Katana though. You have to cancel the landing, do a ground dash and an air dash each rep which can get pretty precise if there is any lag. One other unique property of the move is that it actually beats attack/heal type kunai weapons unlike most range heavy attacks.

besides it having the unique combo for range types overall it looks great and will defenitly be amazing with some cosmetics combos. Shame it takes forever for these great weapons and outfits to come out. At least when they do i have some combos thanks to the range sensei of hidden leaf rose .

Id say Kusanagi in most cases. Lapis keeps you safer but doesn’t have the same damage output as Kusanagi.
Love these weapons always have but they need a slight buff your character glitches out of combos way to often
