That car is a keeper. When I got my license in the 70's U could pick 1 off these for a few hundred dollars. Now clapped out one's are 20 grand. Insane.
Crazy the amount of money being asked for these old cars.when I was a kid my neighbor wanted to sell me a 69 Camaro for 100 bucks because it had a broken shock mount from the dreaded air shocks
Completely different type of car but I imported a Mitsubishi Lancer evolution from Japan in 2010 for $10,000 I live in Canada which means I can do it 10 years sooner than the U.S can now that that car is able to be imported into the United States it’s worth close to $30,000 and when I bought it it was absolutely pristine now it has the dreaded Evo roof rot that happens that I wasn’t aware of when I bought it that’s why it’s only worth $30,000….only. The automotive resale market has gone nuts since Covid like everything else. I remember in the 80s late 60s Camaros being less than $1000. In 2005 I bought a rust free completely mint completely stock 1989 fox body for $5000 now you can get a roller with mismatch body panels for $5000 so I did the smart thing and put $80,000 into it. Look left👈
Agreed that there so overpriced now, it’s my dream to own one but I haven’t been lucky at all, it’s rough
A clapped out one with 426 hemi maybe ,.....lol
I had 69 super bee 440 3 deuces ,....... lol
Had a chance to buy a 69 road runner 426 hemi 1500 bucks but did not have that much bought a 68 road runner for 300
I had a small part in a similar revival. There is no greater feeling. My mom's neighbor had a son who fell in Viet Nam. He had a nearly brand new '67 Cougar. It never moved again after he left for the war. He left it in the drive way, but put cardboard in the windows, and put it under a tarp. The car was immaculate, and had less than 40K original miles on it. I tried many times to buy it from her over the years, but she would not sell it. In 2009, she sold it to another neighbor for $100. I guess he came at the right time, lol. I worked in an auto parts store at the time, and he came in buying parts for a '67 Cougar. When I asked him where he got it, my heart sank, lol. I sold him some parts, and ended up giving him a hand on it. He ended up putting about $4,000 in parts in it, but it is back on the road today, and the car is beautiful. It meant a lot for me to see it come back to life. The guy got the steal of a lifetime.
As someone who watches car videos just to listen to while gaming, this is the first video that truly had me glued to the screen. As I was watching the video, I had the idea that you were a multi-hundred thousand subscriber channel only to realize you're sub-10k. The quality and content you put into your videos speaks volumes and I guarantee you'll be in the hundreds of thousands one day. On top of that the journey you both had is quite amazing, which is heightened by the bond you share. Thank you for sharing such a superb video!
Reading this really made my day! thank you so much for taking the time to write this comment. We put a lot of time into our videos and this means the absolute world to read this! Thank you so much!
The plus side is it'll be lighter than when new at the next car show. Very solid survivor so was it a tranula😮?
I worked for more than 30 years as a car mechanic, most of the time with old cars here im Brazil, we have Charges, Darts with the 318 small block. Your video brought me lots of memories. God Bless you guys and keep you safe.
All I can say is I hope you folks have better luck than I did back in 1969, I bought a brand new triple black, SE/ RT Charger, nothing but problems from day one, huge electrical issues, which were never resolved in the 2 months I owned it, it was the epitome of a true lemon. Beautiful car, just refused to stay running, even the dealership got disgusted with it, traded it on a new 1969 Yenko Camaro, and let it be someone else’s problem, and never looked back! Good Luck, will be beautiful when it’s finished. 👍
Thank you! Sorry to hear that, but the Camaro definitely wasn't a bad choice either! Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Great video! It’s nice to see you guys having fun and taking us with you. When we lived in our old house 2 years ago the neighbor across the street had a dark green r/t with the black top sitting in his garage with stuff piled all over it. He bought it out of a junkyard without the motor. Of course he wouldn’t sell it to me.
Best muscle car I ever owned , 69 charger, I rebuilt the 383 with high compression pistons, the biggest cam I could get ,almost had no brakes, headers,highrise,780 dual feed double pumper with mechanical secondaries..4 speed holy crap! Loved it. But before that was my 64 GTO 389 tripower,,,,,memories
I missed power tour this year but thanks for taking me along. That charger is too good to be true. You've got a few extra passengers that are riding with you the first one is that young man that bought the car and paid the ultimate price for our freedom and your brother. The fact that you got the car signed is a cool touch also. Looks like a great time with 30,000 friends with the same goals in mind finishing the long haul and enjoying the experience is priceless! Great video and you just got a new subscriber to your channel. Looking forward to seeing you guys pickup the free car and doing something fun with it too.
Bless that mom who never gave up on her son’s dream, she did good.
Any B body Mopar is definitely worth saving, especially an R/T and it being an SE is the icing on the cake. They are so rare, and getting harder to find. And, tougher to afford! Good luck with the project.
Wow!!! I truly loved watching this great adventure from start to finish. Awesomeness!!!!!
What saved the floor pans was the factory undercoating.thats the best 25 or so dollars any one could have added to the option list!!great find, enjoy it
The "SE" package was definitely NOT "just" a dealer option. It was very much a factory option as well. Yes, it could be added at the dealership, which is why the numbers on them are a little muddied. Regardless, all it added were Leather front seats, a Woodgrain Steering wheel, the woodgrain dash appliques, and the stainless rocker moldings and SE badges. The build sheet, or even the fender tags will tell the whole story.
This was not a factory R/T. Options were checked at the dealership to add SE features to this R/T. From the factory, you either had an R/T or SE. There was no mixing at the factory.
@@PatientXero607 Say WHAT?!?! If it's not a factory R/T.... then it's not an R/T. The ONLY way to get an R/T was from the factory. The dealership could NOT add R/T pieces because there are chassis parts (ie: torque boxes) that are welded-in at the factory and are only present on R/T cars. Also, the only way to get the 440 or Hemi was to step up to an R/T. Top engine in a base Charger was the non-Magnum 383 4 barrel. There are many pieces that make up an R/T car. Leaf springs, torsion bars, front skid plate; the only way to get a Dana rear was to step up to an R/T.
The dealership could NOT create an R/T. BUT, they could add the SE trim pieces to the car.
OR, you could order an R/T SE right from the factory with all the bits already added.
The build sheet, data tag, even the VIN will tell what the car was born as.
And there were three ways the car could come:
1. as an R/T
2. as an SE (SE package was available on base Chargers)
3. as an R/T with SE package.
Here: www.xr793.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/1969-Dodge-Charger.pdf
Read an original brochure that tells the whole story.
@@PatientXero607 Only available from the factory was the :Charger Special Edition Package" (N.A. w/426 Hemi) Code A47. at a price of $151.85. It included Leather & Vinyl Front Bucket Seats, Sport Steering Wheel, Pedals Dress-up, Deep-Dish Wheel Covers, Wood-Grain Instrument Panel, Hood Mounted Turn Signals and Light Group. In today's money, quite a bargain Back then, it was two car payments. Of course your salesman could order the SE Package on a regular or R/T for you, but they were all built at the factory. Not dealer installed options. These quotes all came from a 1969 Salesman's code and price book that I found on line. The package options also are shown in the 1969 Catalogue. What a wonderful car!
@@PatientXero607
You need to keep quiet because you don't know what you are talking about !
The '69 Charger R/T with the "SE" Pkg added was most definitely a FACTORY installed option making it a 1969 Charger R/T SE as denoted on both their Broadcast Build Sheet and Fender Tags by the "A47" code.
NO SUCH THING as a "383" Engines 1969 Charger R/T..... because the standard Engine for thew "R/T" model was the "E86" code 440 Magnum with the only "option" up from there being the 426 Hemi.
Sure do hate seeing old school beauties like this left to sit and rot away. Look forward to seeing the progress on it.
You guys always out do yourselves and this one is no exception!!! Fantastic, and legendary video! That Charger looked like it sat at the bottom of the Titanic, but you guys are real deal!! Love you guys and your contribution to the automotive community and all things legendary!!
Thank you for bringing back this emerald treasure!!! It was the coolest 😎 thing watching it drive down the highway 🛣️, so awesome!!! I'm just so excited for you two. Thanks for the video 📸.
Couldn't tell if it was a trap door spider or a tarantula.... All you need to know is either way it was just going to hurt like hell if it bit anyone. And a flaming spider running at you is a terrifying site to behold when one of those comes charging.
What a fantastic video!
Such a great job on getting the car on the road and making it through power tour!
Sure helps to have an epic team that support one another.
You guys have a great project car there and it's great to see a family all in it together. I'm a Charger guy I was trying to find these cars back in the 80's and it was tough then. Most of them were rust buckets then found one very good one that was out of my price range at $900 for a 70 RT with no rust and a 383. One of the biggest regrets of my life I should have found a way it needed very little even had a luggage rack on the trunk lid lol!
In late seventies my buddy just missed a70 six pack GTX that the father of a son who died in Vietnam finally could bear to sell it. He was jacking with “now I will ask the bank”. Guy from Ohio had money when he showed up.
A couple years later, I worked at a full service gas station. A Pentecostal woman would come in on occasion, in a pristine 396 SS Nova. I told her I liked seeing her come in with it. He said “it belonged to my son”. I never pressed it, as I lost a brother in the military and saw the same pain my mother had at times.
Great to keep the story of these cars .
Awesome video and definitely a great experience. I'm so glad I was able to meet you guys in person!!
Best thing I found all day, have 1970 torino since 1974 , you all rock, thanks dad..great job
Gotta say I'm extremely impressed with your level of mechanical skill! Great job on the Charger! Glad you made it! Thoroughly enjoyed the quality of your video. Subscribed instantly!
Keep up the good work. Your Def teaching your daughter how to build a hell of a hot rod. And her trouble shooting skills. Are killer. 😊😊 not many like that.
Awesome video! Great enthusiasm and GRIT! It takes patience and knowledge to make a car like that run good. Congratulations on your new pride and joy.
Incredible the way your Charger held up after sitting all those years, wow !
Just wanted to say that I found you guys by accident while searching for 69 charger video and let me tell you I REALLY enjoyed this video and I’ve subscribed and look forward to checking out more of your videos. Great job with everything on this build and power tour coverage. Awesome keep it up love how much fun you guys have in your video.
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to us. We love making videos, we are so glad we can share it with you!
One of my favorite cars.
Thank you rescuing it and bringing it back on the road!
I saw wild Mook in the corner for a moment. Some of my favorite CZcamsrs in one spot.
Congratulations on getting your car signed! 🙌👍
I love it.
The Power Tour videos from you, @JunkyardDigs and @flyingsparksgarage, to name just very few, make my day.
These feelings of community and family literally get a hold of me through the screen. 🤗
Over here, we'd have to fight of grrens and environmental activists / extremists for even trying something like Hot Rod Power Tour.
My heart wants to go immigrate to the US.
My mind says it makes no sense, due to my medical needs.
All the other challenges and issues I could handle, I think.
Awesome to see this Charger getting put back on the road getting some new life and also creating some great family memories. Awesome, work 👍🏻
Great job keep up the good work I enjoyed it very much as I have an 1970 Nova LS that was in the family since day one very cool thanks so much again keep up the great work
Like that charger! That road trip looks like a lot of fun🎉✌️👍
I just happened to come across your channel at random and was really glad I did. This was a fantastic video. Such an awesome car just as it sits. Getting Freiburger and Dulcich to sign it was awesome. I'd love to meet them someday. Back in the early-mid 80's I spent 3 years building my first Hot rod (69 mustang fastback) from ages 19-22. I drove it around town for 300 miles then me and my brother, along with my buddy in his '77 camaro, drove from New York to St. Louis for the Car craft magazine street machine nationals. I still can't believe we did that. No cell phones, no GPS. Just a couple of kids with a Road atlas and a sense of adventure. Caroline's youthful excitement brought those memories back. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. subscribed.
This is an amazing find that’s like a dream car and it’s in great shape for it being 54 years in the outdoors
That is so cool.Glad you like it. I had so many of those cars in the day
I'm from/in the UK, and being honest, I'm not really much of a fan of American Muscle cars, BUT ......
We did get the Dukes Of Hazard on tv here back in the 1980's and I was a massive fan, so the 69 Charger is one Yank Tank I do have love for.
That is what initially got me watching this, but I have to say, the whole video was incredible, I had to watch till the end. Thank you so much for such a great piece of film, I absolutely loved it from start to end. The whole vibe, the interaction between you all, the scenery, the cars, the music, it all complements each other.
I am a petrolhead of course, but being from the UK I am a fan of small fast saloons, hatchbacks and coupes, as this is what I grew up with. Currently driving a 2017 M140i tuned to 455bhp/634nm.
Thank you so much for watching it all. It means a lot to hear that you enjoyed it! We love making videos like this, so this really seals the deal for us! Cheers from the US
It's sad looking at this car and thinking about the soldier, and his mother. Glad to see this beauty getting the attention it deserves.
I just discovered your channel tonight, Caroline your skills are impressive, your dad must be really proud, your both extremely knowledgeable and your channel is awesome, i really enjoyed this video, i subscribed and liked and look forward to binge watching however many vids that you have created lol. Its my new favorite channel
Great car, great job, great tour I loved, congrats from Santo André/Brazil !
What a Trip wow. Love you guys and young lady for all the thrills❤😊🎉
Another awesome video! Sorry for your loss, RIP Friz! 🙏🙏
How i stumbled across this video i have no idea...I was hooked the second i saw the Charger in the Yard find. Grew even more interested as you moved through the Power Tour. I wasn't aware of this Tour but it is definitely something I want to join in on next year. I moved back home to the Shenandoah Valley a few years ago and when i realized where the tour took you guys i realized just how small the world can be....I lived in Weaverville NC for over 30 years before moving back home to Virginia and was tickled to see you guys riding through there on your way to Bristol....Great video, very well edited and produced. Maybe next year I'll stand on my big truck holding a sign for you guys to sign my ride!! Take care and keep posting those hot rod videos and any of the fury if you have it!!👋
Just found your channel today Love that you work on cars not a huge Mopar fan but you do a little bit of everything. And you are pretty funny and daughter makes it better also. 😂👍🇺🇸💯
New to the channel guys. Awesome car show. Alot of very awesome cars there. Love the video.
EPIC video yall! That Charger is freakin amazing! and the fact that Freiburger and Dulcich signed it definitely ups the value! Ive always wanted to be a part of power tour, hopefully next year me and my 78 Magnum can participate!
Thanks for the memories. Back in 69, couldn't afford a new Charger, so I settled for a Coronet 440 two-door hardtop....same color green. Drafted a few months later. In 1973, back home and bought a new...... 1973 Charger SE Brougham. Nicest car I ever owned. Bronze and white exterior and white interior. My current toy is a 71 Challenger Convertible. What's the story on the engine in your Charger? Is it a numbers-matching 440?
Thank you so much for watching. We will be decoding and running all the numbers in the next video coming next week! :)
Awesome content so happy you saved her. can only expect better stuff from a family love of of auto classics
Real deal , I like pop and daughter, cool she knows more than some shops! GOOD JOB OLDMAN!
Nice find. I cry seeing the rust, but I'm spoiled here in the desert. I have no doubt you guys will do something amazing with this amazing piece of Mopar history.
👍We are going to drive it and show it as found for now. Then make plans next year for its future. Thx for watching 👌
Thanks, interesting video of wrenching & the Tour…..my first viewing of your Wirks/ Channell, but :lots of time driving through same area ,& working on old cars…. And recovering from COVID ……..etc.
that looked so awesome and amazing!!! What an experience to do with your dad!
I enjoyed this video and would love to be on a trip like that. I just don't have sponsors to make it possible for me.
I'm 68, retired from 20 years in the military and surviving on social insecurity.
But I had a hoot living in the moment with y'all. Thank you for sharing. It's a blast from the past. ❤
Prayers up my condolences your brother sounds like a nice guy im sure his presence was with yall during this journey
Much love ❤️ this makes the soul smile. American steel 😎
Great channel!!!! Love it.
Despite what others have said, those wheels are awesome. Simple and clean in design, plus they are lighter and run the drums cooler. Such a cool car. Congratulations.
Don’t forget the Plymouth convertible!!
Love the 69 charger ❤️
In college,’71-‘72, Ft Worth, Texas, my roommate had a yellow one. I had a Yellow Boss 302. We Owned the TCU Saturday Nights❤
Thanks for the memories gang!
What a dream girl. Cool video. Thanks for sharing!
This was a lot of fun to watch! So cool they signed your green on green!
I like to see people find cars like this and then getting them going again. I have been unable to find the car I am looking for. If you find a 1967 Mercury Cougar (preferably burgundy with a black top) but any color will do, I would get it going for the power tour !
nothing like a yard find mopar.Great job with the video.VERY entertaining !!
When they signed your car technically Dave and Steve dubbed it worthy to be part of the roadkill family
Yeah, Steve really liked it. David tried to trade us the duster. I was like, “Nope”
Greetings from Germany.👋 Over the years I have had 4 Dodge Chargers 1x69 General Lee, 1x 70 General Lee, 1x 70 R/T and 1x69 R/T. I'm very happy that you're getting this charger running again.❤
Resprct ljudima sta su ga vratili u život❤
You all are so funny 😂 thanks Don WV
From the fall of 1968 into the spring of 1969 I work for a small town Dodge dealer in River Falls Wisconsin. In March 1969 I left and join the US Army.
On the showroom floor of that Dodge dealer was a green charger identical to the one being featured here. It was an absolutely beautiful vehicle.
This story reminds me of the countless Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers and other automobiles that were bought by young men heading off to war.
Great story man!! Could probably talk with you about those time with you for hours. Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
Wow. Flooded with memories. I'm in HS in 82 and there is only 1 musclecar in the lot. Its a 70 Charger RT/SE, a 440 car . Same color as this one. It's Iowa so its rusted beyond belief. I asked her every week if her dad would sell and it was always no.
Just came across your channel and love your content 👍🏻
❤ from Australia
Just found your channel so far awesome great looking car.
Thank you so much! We are in love with this car, new video coming next week on some more updates!

WoW I’m happy for you guys that’s a nice find can’t wait to bring all my cars (7) up across the Pacific Ocean I just picked up a red Duster like RK’s Duster.. enjoy have fun 🤙
Weren't all R/T models equipped with 440 Magnums as standard ? Optional would of been 426 Hemi? I have never heard of an R/T with 383.
Yes. no 383s in a R/T someone ether charge the motor or just put the R/T emblem on it
Only a few built special with a stroker! Even more rare!! Thanks for turning that negative into a pisitive!!😊
Caroline you are so awesomely beautiful and your smile is very gorgeous !!! You seem to know alot about vehicles and even better you seem to be very willing to learn all you can from your dad or anyone!! i am a new subscriber and really enjoy watching you and the crew working on old school vehicles! So far that is all ive seen ya working on but ill be watching lots more!! Love the content and really love your smile and chipper voice!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all ( I watched this episode Dec 23,2023)
Jist found your channel andni love it. So cool that yous bought a 69 charger. My best friends Dad had a 74 or 75 Roadrunner and it was so bad ass. I cant wait to watch more videos yous have
My dad had a black 68 charger beautiful car,so i know how you feel about the charger,so cool you got it signed by roadkill awesome video
Wat een mooie video zit veel liefde in ❤
Your lucky guys! I was next in line to meet Finnegan at LS fest in Bowling Green KY. when a guy with him politely said guys were gonna take lunch lol. I was devastated
These cars were a beast!
I was born in 1962, I lived this era, and, Dodge and Plymouth ruled, when I was 16 you could get a nice Charger or Cuda for $1,500, all day long, in 1977, $1,500 was a lot of money, I worked at a gas station, when we used to pump gas, it was 62 cents a gallon, I made $65 a week, you had to save a long time to come up with $1,500. In my 30`s I bought a 1970 road runner, I did the body work myself, had it painted Limeliight, new tires and wheels, new H pipe dual exaust with headers, rebuilt 383 with a 727 trans, got a divorce and had to sell it, I loved that car, never been able to afford another one since, Mopars are through the roof these days. I bet my road runner is worth 50 - 60k today, loved the video, brought back memories, I love the Charger green, is that F8, I never seen a green vynal top, most were black, this is a pretty rare car, SE, air, I love the green on green.
NJ is the last state where it’s illegal to pump your own gas. Although I hear that’s coming to an end. Are there any other places in the US where it’s optional to have someone pump your gas? Back in the 80s some stations had it for premium fuel.
$500 when gas crunch hit.
Forest Green.
