- I’m not really sure how I feel about Nygmobblepot…part of me is always going to be positive and hope and wish and believe in their ability to hear the fans and want to fix their relationship in season 4 which is possible. I don’t deny that they could do this. But the other part of me thinks they really don’t care and are too afraid to make a male/male romance actually happen in Gotham so I don’t really want to get my hopes up…I’m still going to ship them, absolutely, but I won’t really have any expectations for canon…I have a feeling that nothing will happen between them next season. Like yes, sure I think Oswald still loves Ed, but I don’t think the writers are going to open him up to romance again, idk he swore it off…doesn’t mean it won’t, I’m just going to shield myself from heartbreak again.

It’s just hard bc I felt like they really had this golden opportunity to go an interesting direction: they become supervillains together. You know? They make each other stronger and more evil together as opposed to love making them villains which I’ve personally seen over and over again and its boring and dull at this point. How original. I also feel betrayed in terms of them basically throwing Ed’s characterization in episode 15 out of the window as if that episode never happened.
However, I did still enjoy their interactions tonight. It might have been because I lowered my expectations so I wasn’t let down. But Robin and Cory still got it lol! The scenes still were funny, and fuckign FINALLY Oswald had his moment about damn time! But those couple of lines from Ed literally stabbed me in the feels like fuck…

I'm actually quite OK with the way they ended it. I knew all along that they wouldn't do a canon m/m ship and they made a lot of mistakes along the way but I thought it worked out quite Gotham-esque in the end. We know Os loved Ed till the end and that's why he had to get his revenge. Ed loved Os in his own way but the whole situation was too complicated and it drove him mad. The guy had serious issues and he was beyond gone by the end of the episode, even Oswald could see it. Considering that no one gets a happy ending on this show, I thought it was well-done - and so much fanon stuff left to explore!!!
Salary Man I get all that I really do and I'm like semi okay with the ending BUT I think it was a huge mistake to not go for canon. What a wasted opportunity to be frank.
I understand. But I think all possibilities of it ever being canon went out the window when they introduced Isabella - it was kind of a big "fuck you" and the producers & actors have said since then that it was never intended to be canon. We still got an LGBT Penguin which is a huge step for a show like Gotham, considering it skews heavily straight fuckboy male and they knew there'd be a homophobic backlash. Despite all that they maintainted until the end that Oswald DID love Ed and his love was real, even going against Robin Lord Taylor's own weird characterization (I think he still argues that Oswald was confused and not in love, but that's on him, because the script was clear on that part - it was romantic love). TLDR; I know we're all hurt but we got the best out of the situation. There will always be headcanons and fanfiction. :')

You know, if you look at 0:48-0:49 and let yourself forget that there's a vat of acid above them and Ed is putting Os in a death trap, it kind of could look like they're sitting on the hood of their car together and just looking up at the stars together on a beautiful night time picnic. (Today on: I just want these two to be happy together so I'm going to ignore everything and just pretend that they are...)

0:56 to 1:05 is by far my favourite bit just because of the parallels to see how far Oswald has come from when he was first rejected to now. The finale killed me in so many ways, but i really think the writers did really well with making nygmapot canon and ending it on the right note, showing how much oswald has developed. I weirdly love the chipmunk voice of this idky but i think the colourings great as ever, it really fits. But the best scenes is where u used the parallels of the two of them at the dock. That really hit me in the feels.

Yeah I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you. I got heartbroken too but since I have experienced worse in episode 14 it only took me two days to recover. But you, you kept hope even after episode 14, it must have been even more devastating for you... Although you're right, Oswald and Edward are definitely still shippable, they may not be canon but they will always be soulmates!

I'm like mixed on how I feel about everything tbh...yeah I'm never going to stop shipping them but it literally all comes down to whether the writers have the BALLS to make them canon or not and that's not something I can guess. My God I love this ! :) especially when you compare the two scenes when ed shoot Oswald and the the last episode, you can see their change of character! Old Ed is confused still fighting with himself to shoot or not, then you see the completely evolved riddler, then you see old Oswald being heartbroken and scared , desperate, then you see him full of power and calmly as he knows he won. Man it's awesome!!!

That was an ending wasn't it? I thought it was great really, and I loved the fact that I think Ed realised Oswald knew him better than he knew himself. And penguin was so sassy and cold. I thought it was perfect
I did rather like the part where Ed was like "shit he does know me best out of anyone in this world..." hopefully he has time to mull over that whilst frozen. Part of me was sad Ozzie was so cold, but then again, I dont doubt he still is in love with Ed. I just think what he means is he wont let love get in the way anymore.

here's the things...my pride wants them to be canonically together , or mutual feelings for each other. like, of course. most anyone in the lgbt+ community wants representation , sometimes even if it's not that great because we get desperate for it. i'm not saying this romance wouldn't be good rep , it could be. i love the idea of them on and off fighting each other to "show love" or maybe even deny it. but then that also makes me a hypocrite for my opinion on the whole harleyxjoker thing on the internet , right? that it's not healthy to romanticize falling in love with a psychopath who show love with violence etc. maybe there's a difference because harley was manipulated and mutated into loving joker and ed/oswald are both already complete villains no matter if they were a couple or not. but besides my own conscience fighting about this, i do much like how they've gone about it. if ed hadn't killed oswald or gotten some kind of revenge for isa it would've felt weird and unnatural and no relationship in the show has been safe or stable so far so...it is very gotham and i think we could still have some chance of something who knows. i love the show so much as long as ed or penguin aren't gone forever.
