ブガッティの日本正規代理店であるスカイグループは2023年1月24日、ブガッティ東京において、オープントップのハイパーカー「W16ミストラル」（モックアップ）を国内初披露した。
W16ミストラルは、ブガッティが開発した限定99台のハイパーカー。2022年8月に米国カリフォルニア州で世界初公開され、税や輸送費を除いた本体のみで500万ユーロ（現在のレートで約7億円）という高価格にもかかわらず、その時点で完売となっている。
ボディータイプはオープントップの2シーター。「ヴェイロン」以来の歴代ブガッティと同様、4基のターボチャージャーで過給される8リッターW型16気筒エンジンをキャビン後方に搭載し、4輪を駆動する。最高出力は1600PSで、最大トルクは1600N・m。420km/h（リミッターにより制限）の最高速を誇る。
今回、都内のショールームで行われたアンベールには、ブガッティ・リマックのマネージングディレクターであるヘンドリック・マリノウスキー氏も同席。「W16ミストラルは、2005年から続いてきたW16エンジン搭載車の“最終局面”ともいえるモデルです。コロナ禍もあり遅くなったものの、ようやく日本で披露できることをうれしく思います」などとコメントした。
氏の言うとおり、同社はW16エンジンに別れを告げ、今後はハイブリッドのパワートレインに移行することを明らかにしている。2023年には、内燃機関がベースのハイブリッドシステムに関する何らかのテクニカルコンセプトを発表する予定で、そのタイミングは8月のペブルビーチ（モントレー カーウイーク）になるという。
さらにこの日は、W16ミストラルのデザインを取りまとめたアヒム・アンシャイト氏も姿を見せ、モックアップを前に、Aピラーを包み込むように湾曲したフロントガラスや、そこから連続するサイドのキャラクターライン、馬蹄（ばてい）型のグリル、エアダクトと組み合わされたX型のテールランプ、万が一の横転時でも乗員の安全が確保されるように開発されたカーボン製のエアインテークといったデザインのハイライトを説明。「最後のW16モデルであるミストラルをデザインできたことを誇りに思うとともに、この貴重なクルマのオーナーになられた方々を祝福します」などと述べた。
そのオーナーのもとに同モデルの実物が届けられるのは、生産がスタートする2024年以降。前述のとおり、予定の99台は完売状態だがキャンセル待ちは可能で、目下、日本からも3人が列に並んでいるとのことである。
