Thank you Dr Tlotleng for the informative talk.
You forgot to mention North Cliff/Northern suburbs, Johannesburg as one of the historical/heritage places (site) of Batswana ("The krall"/The rock krall)
You seem to be downplaying the role of the British, hence Barolong have so much respect for Queen Victoria for commissioning British army to protect lehatshe la Barolong.
Without the involvement of the British there wouldn't have been Botswana (the country) or Barolong could have simply been overpowered by the Boers, turning Barolong land into farms and making us their slaves.
Thankfully that didn't happen thanks to the back up of Queen Victoria (Mmamosetsanyana) as our grandparents call her.
Keep in mind also how The British sponsored the sons of Barolong Kings to study overseas as far as (Scotland). The likes of Dr Modiri Molema who went on to be one of the founding fathers of ANC. Not only that but many other Barolong prominent officials like Rre Sol Platjie, whom they sponsored to study law in United States (Wilberforce) and returned home (Mafikeng) to become strong mediators for lehatshe la Barolong/Bechuana land at home and abroad.
The land conferences bo Rre Sol Platjie went to attend overseas (on behalf of Barolong)
One can only ever think it was the British who sponsored them enabled them to do so.

The tellers of the history of the Barolong are continually confusing the descendants of this great nation. Rona, Barolong re bina tshipi ya noto e ntsho. Re ana Tholo.
Many sources of the history of the Barolong do not agree on many areas of both origin and descendency. Their origins in north Africa is confusing as it is stated that Bahurutshi and Bakwena are regarded as their origin of Barolong. Morolong is emphasized in many literatures eg MD Ramoroka as the origin of the Barolong. Another confusion comes where a list of rulers after Morolong which touches the following: Noto, Morara, Mabe, Mabudi, Manoto, Mabeo, Modiboa, Modiboa, Tshesebe, Setlhare, Masepa, Mokgopha, Thibela, Tau. It is not quite clear how these are related to King Morolong. Some of them their descendants are not mentioned if not all. It's only Tau whose father is mentioned as Thibela and his siblings are not mentioned but only Nthua whose descendants is also not mentioned. Confusion is realised again with the way the sons of Ratlou are not ranked in the same way throughout. It's therefore critical that history of Barolong can be discussed at a symposium where ideas can be collated and debated which will lead to a common understanding. The other issue which comes out clear is that Rre Otlotleng and Rre Gordon Letlhogile which I had an opportunity to listen to, should not discuss this issue with a lot of sensitivity. Between the two of you, yoy differ on the issue of the capital city. Letlhogile talks of Ganyesa as the capital of Ratlou and Otlotleng talks of Mahikeng as the capital.

Bahurutshe and Bakwena only came into existence after the spilt of their original Nation called Baphofung. Baphofung only migrated to Southern Africa over 300+ years (1500’s)after The Barolong Nation had migrated and settled in the Molopo area around the years 1200. After the Baphofung King had died his descendants were Mohurutshe (Female) 1st wife and Sons, Kwena(2nd Wife). He had other sons as well named Ngoato, Ngoaketse and I believe also Mokgatlha.
The Nations called Bahurutshe, Bakwena, Bamangoato, Bangwaketse and Bakgatla came into being after the split of the Nation, after the death of King Malope of Baphofung. Some in the Nation didn’t want to be led by a Female and so on and so on….
In Setswana if you find a King living in an area and he grants you land, you automatically become his Junior. Bahurutshe came into existence after Barolong had already existed for centuries is so it’s ridiculous to even suggest Bahurutshe are senior to Barolong. In reality Barolong are Senior to Bahurutshe due to the above Facts. The suggestion that Barolong come from Bahurutshe or Bakwena is a Joke and actually an Insult to Barolong as an entire Nation. Barolong granted Baphofung land when they arrived around the late 1500’s to King Masilo the Father of Malope. Barolong are therefore Senior to the breakaway Nations of Baphofung, FACT!
      ‘POWER TO TRUTH’✊🏽

@@tatemodimogale7809Tota as a descendant of Mzilikazi the lack of unity among the black races is what's causing confusion and delaying our progress. Mzilikazi ke ene Moselekatse ka Setswana ngwana wa ga Machobane wa mokwena. His journey from KZN to Zimbabwe denies his association with the Tswana kingdoms as a son of the tswana causing division and a lack of progress in our development agenda as democratic nations. Consider the fact that Amazulu are called heavenly or people of the sky this is a very important information that is overlooked by the black races especially in times of unification with the greater Zulu family outside of South Africa found in Congo ko Mbemba Zulu.
Similarly, I'm from the Barolong ward in Northern Botswana ko Tonota. However, there is a lack of progress and development in Barolong ward due to the facts being so unpopular that's why I appreciate this video. Otherwise, according to Barolong in Mafikeng, Morolong is from central Africa and the last tswana speakers to leave Ancient Egypt were called the last "divine" kings of Egypt. Divine re ra boloi kana. Le mo Wikipedia tota the last divine ruler of Egypt was called Horemheb or Horemhobo by Nigerians or Morolong according to the Tswana. His parentage is unknown.
This facts are overlooked despite Bahurutshe also descendant from Egypt as the followers of Horus the son of Isis and Osiris. The quicker we acknowledge our heritage the better we can unite and progress for the sake of our democratic nations.

According to me Barolong and Matswana come from the Sotho Nation who lived in South Africa before this country was called South Africa. Barolong and Matswana are the children of Makgatla who is one of the sibling of Keonoa and Pedi so most of Tswana comes from the Bakeonoa

Can I ask, where do Barolong ba Gasehuba descend from?

    • @levykgatle2178
      @levykgatle2178 Před 11 měsíci +2

Barolong ba Sehuba descended from Barolong ba Modibowa the real senior Barolong from whom Tshesebe split to former the Barolong who to layer generations were ruled by Tau the father to Ratlou, Tshidi, Seleka and Rapulana. This means Barolong ba Sehuba are senior to the Tau branch and are equal to the Barolong of Modibowa. Unfortunately the stock of Barolong ba Modibowa, Barolong ba Sehuba and Barolong ba Morakile who are all senior to the Tau stock did not have a strong leadership to stand against the difaqane upheavals hence most of them were subsumed into the junior branch of Tshesebe/Tau.

With all due respect Kgosikgolo Tau was the 14th descendant of Kgosikgolo Morolong, bua nnete tu Dr Tlotleng. Another thing Tau had 5 main Sons not 4. In terms of birth Seleka was first born hence he became Kgosikgolo when Tau died, this was due to him being the eldest. In any case Ratlou was the youngest born but he was the supposed heir. There was Seleka, Ratshidi, Makgetla, Rapulana and Ratlou as last born. Tlotleng has oversimplified our History and Moroka was a Regent and not actual Kgosi(story for another day)

@@tatemodimogale7809 Ratlou is the 1st Born Son and Heir of the Main House even though he was born later than his brothers which are all of Lessor Houses and thus he was but a young child around 8-11 years when King Tau died and therefore because the brothers banded against him (Ratlou) to take power from him (being Tshidi and Seleka each one supported by the other two) and didn't want his Mother as his Regent, the brother to Tau became his Regent and because they wanted to kill the boy. The Regent for Ratlou (His Father's Brother - Nthua) broke away and ran with the child to save his life to the Vaal River via Morokweng and other settlements where the stronger and older brothers didn't follow but remained in Taung until further splits amongst themselves. Please let's kindly follow the Ratlou story more accurately we are willing to be corrected and what happened at the Vaal?!

Dr is mixing up stories Batlhaping ke Barolong . Tau ha se ngwana wa ga Kgosi Morolong they are 10 generations gap between them
Ratlou ha Leitibolo ke 3rd born ya ga Tau ,Seleka ke first born from junior wife but Ratlou mother was a senior wife that is why Ratlou is the heir .
