According to the Boston Tea Party Historical Society, John Hancock Foster presented a different surviving tea party chest to the DAR Boston Tea Party Chapter on November 20th, 1902 which had been preserved within the Hopestill Foster family. I keep seeing conflicting stories. Some are saying the Robinson Half Chest is the only known surviving tea party chest, while others are saying it is one of two known chests. It also seems that information on the Foster chest isn't prevalent while the Robinson chest has most of the notoriety. My question is, why do these conflicting views exist? Was the Foster chest discredited? If the Foster chest is indeed still viable, I'd love to see photos of both chests together at an exhibit.
