Jay Slater’s mum says ‘our hearts are broken’ after son’s body found with ‘multiple injuries’

- THE body found in a mountainous area of Tenerife is Jay Slater's, authorities have confirmed.
A court on the island today said they have ID'd the body by fingerprints and that Jay, 19, had suffered multiple injuries.

It's amazing they found his body given how very difficult the terrain is. I don't understand how some reports say his possessions and clothes were found near him. Wouldn't they have been ON him? Regardless, my heart goes out to the family.

What I wanna know is more about these two older guys? What makes a young man feel like he needs to leave a house into unfamiliar territory with no way of getting back did he get paranoid or were these guys up to no good and Jay clicked onto their intentions? I'm just saying coz the build up to him leaving and the question why he left when he's so far away from his hotel and friends. And why did he not ask one of the guys to get him a cab or ask for a charger for half an hour before he left? Theres just too many unanswered questions on the lead up to him leaving its so suspicious. Was he spiked? Where was his friends when he was leaving with 2 strangers it all sounds shady as hell.

He was a young, fit guy in the prime of his life and in full holiday mode in the gorgeous sunshine. I remember being that age and I remember being that age on holiday abroad ... you think nothing is impossible and think you're invincible and that nothing bad will ever happen to you; you feel invulnerable and untouchable. Then factor in the booze and drugs, which lower your inhibitions and cloud your judgement. Basically, it's a recipe for disaster, especially if lost and on your own, and naivety and inexperience come into play. What happened to young Jay, whether accidental or something more sinister, is tragic. I personally think, judging from what I've read thus far, that it was a tragic accident; I think young Jay has, in his inexperience and naivety, underestimated the terrain and heat, and then panicked a bit and slipped and fell down that steep ravine. The drink and drugs will not have helped him (clouded his judgement). Just a tragedy. Life is fragile, uncertain and unfair ... you just never know when your time is up. Thoughts are with his family.

I personally just think that their intellect and their expertise and extensive knowledge on the subject allows them to arrive at the right and most accurate conclusion. Also, and just as importantly, they are experienced in dealing with corpses and cadavers (obviously some are more experienced than others and are better at their jobs than others). Don't forget, pathologists and forensic scientists also use state-of-the-art technology and equipment which enables them to obtain more accurate results and conclusions.
What a tragedy, if only people would comprehend how badly drinking can affect us, i wish young people would stay away from alcohol 😔

How sad for that young man - RIP. However, why did he go off with 2 strangers after a night of partying and why on earth did he start on a perilous journey not knowing where he was going and especially without a fully charged phone and no water??
It's actually quite common for police to keep information from the public especially in a case like this that couldve had the possibility of foul play involved. And because of all the people theorising and the spread of misinformation over the last few weeks. However I'm not sure how well informed the family was maybe because of the language barrier/differences. Who knows. This is just tragic all round. Qnd there's always something to be learned from these kind of situations. My heart goes out for his mom, dad and brother.
Spanish police give little information in cases like this, even more in this case with all the crazy conspiracy theories and the hard critics to them since day one. I wonder how Scotland Yard would react if another country was threating them to send their own police to investigate their case acusing them of corruption, laziness and unprofessionality.

Poor young guy. Such a tragedy. I really feel for his family. I hope they get full closure, and I hope nothing sinister has happened. I personally don't think anything sinister has occurred, but we'll find out in due course after an official investigation. The poor lad's body was found, according to officials, in a state of serious decomposition and he'd sustained several broken bones consistent with a fall into a steep ravine.

@@steve-kl9iv ok well it’s like this for me…. I can’t only portray my own experience. Four years ago my nephew and his friends attended the Eaton Park, musical festival in Manchester. Eighteen years of age most of them. Joshua , my nephew, telephoned me in a serious state of inebriation. Pleaded for me to please come and pick him up. Begged me not to tell his mother (my sister) . I parked my car outside the festival’s gate and kept phoning Josh to make his way to the gates. He kept phoning me to say he was being sick and his phone battery was down. I could hear his friends being incoherent also….so I had to ask a security guard at the event if I could possibly enter the premises to look for Josh. Couldn’t find him or his friends. Ended up in North Manchester Hospital, because a security guard told me some boys had been taken there due to ecstasy being sold. To cut a long story short, Josh had clothing on him which didn’t belong to him. His was missing. His own jewellery, watch and expensive chain was missing. But it was found a few days later in an abandoned hold all near Manchester airport. No idea what that was about, neither did the police.
When young people engage in drug taking and alcohol, anything can happen. As a mother and extremely responsible person, I would like to say that ‘ there but for the grace of god, go I” …… we all like to think we’re the best parents, but sometimes it goes wrong.
