  • We have been forging knives and other things from metal for the past couple of years, and finally decided to pull the trigger on a Coal Iron, 12 Ton Forging press.
This vid is just an unboxing, but stay tuned for set-up videos, and ASMR content, as well as steel squishing, and knife making vids.

I'm impressed that you picked that press up and put on the bench. That thing is pretty heavy. Good video.

I didn't build the forging press, so I actually don't know the specs, but they are available on the coal iron website. Just look up the 12 ton forging press and you'll find the specs there.

Did your motor come with a connector to hold the wire secure. Mine was just a rubber plug the wire went through? Just wondering. Thanks.

Not measured in HP. Measured in TONS. Runs on 110V, 20 amp, or 220V, 10 amp. Which the coal iron website says does not significantly affect performance.

looks great! quick question, how big did you have to make your table/stand to fit everything?

That tabletop is 40" wide, and 22" deep, but it would fit on something much smaller. The website lists the footprint for the actual power unit, and press. I wanted something a bit bigger though as I was using a repurposed stand, and some 1/2" steel plate I got for free. Since the plate was 11" wide, I doubled it up, thus the 22" depth.
