He's kind of knowledgeable. I already knew about Gettysburg and ironclads and I'm not even American. If you want to look into all kinds of warfare, it's not that hard.
I would trust britannica or the National Army Museum over Baron any day.
The USS Merrimack was a US Navy ship that sank. It was raised by Southerners and, at the start of the war, they began converting it into an ironclad named the CSS Virginia. It was not the first ironclad because the first one was a British vessel built at least a decade before the Civil War!
The first ironclad were made by koreans

it was a union ship, the meremac, but it was taken by the south and renamed the CSS Virginia. it was kinda just, a ship, with a steam engine planted in it and iron armor made from torn up railway. it was devastating to wooded ships, but the union's first iron clad wrecked the southern one despite being smaller.
That is not true, the first battle they shot a each other for hours until they just left
I never said it was the first battle the union won. I know it happened at some point, the first battle I never researched.

P.S. The USS Merrimack was converted into The CSS Virginia ironclad. I had it backwards, all due credit for the correction goes to Jackson Smith with much appreciation. Details are important, especially nowadays when it seems so many don't care for the truth, which is so often found in the details.

Fort Sumter was an island fortress off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. I’ve visited it before and it was one of the most surreal experiences for me. That was where the American Civil War began, that very fort, those very stones, that very soil.

Actually alot of soldiers on both sides were so new to the states they couldn't speak English! Some of the prisoners that were taken were German and French. Wow from the amateur historian 🤣 Thanks for your time

2:27 south carolina. Thats why the union general Sherman put his eye on south carolina creating huge amount of pain to the people of south carolina. Also the guy who actually build the iron clads was the union

hey you might want to take a look at running with rifles again as it just had an updates.
Excuse my nerdiness, but AcTuAlLy ThE MeRrImAcK was the union flagship, but when the csa took Virginia, they burned it but only the top part, so the heaved it out of the water and put iron armor on it, creating an ironclad
These are not muskets. These are RIFLED muskets have a effective range of 600 m and accuracy of a rifle. The American civil war battles were very deadly bcs for some reason, while Europe was fighting at long ranges, trenches, the American still fought at 100m

Baron kept mentioning musket balls throughout the vid, while musket balls were probably used to limited extent, mainly in the US civil war they used Minnie balls, kind of like pellet gun pellets but musket and rifle sized. not trying to be mean but i really like history and I'm gonna nitpick, either way keep it up man, love the vids

The VIRGINIA was the first ironclad, it was made off of the Unions Merrimack.
