we learned that max is the difference. If any rookie or mid field driver gets behind that car, its going to reflect their level of driving. Max, Lewis, Fernando.... Those guys are just different. I guess maybe because they're world champions.
If Perez was Red Bull's lead driver last year no one would be talking about the RB19 being one of the best cars of all time. It's Max's metronomic consistency that is making these cars look so impressive.

Lando made a first sector mistake where he was down about .25. If he doesn't make that mistake he's in that 2-3 range. I think Mclaren looks a lot better than expected on a track like Bahrain

Qualifyings are so good. Really nice to see it back. Can't wait for tomorrow's race. Nice to see that the field is closer than I imagined
the most interesting thing is that top 9 is just .5 second apart... that is very small margin for quali... tomorrow we will find out how those machines work in race pace.

Alpine should consider selling the team and get the dodge out before they loose even more money. How many times did they fail already and worst of all is they don't learn from previous mistakes and been faling down the grid year after year.
Lewis did say that him and George were on different setups and George’s setup was faster in 1 lap pace but Lewis felt quicker with full fuel
Continuation from last year.
Lewis always setup for race day especially in circuits where overtaking was easier.

Alpine only improved 0.121 from their fastest Bahrain qualifying time last year which was set by Esteban Ocon in Q2.
Great vid!, particularly the comparison between the qualifying times and the FP2 times! Interesting to note that the difference between the AVG times between 1s and 9th was almost as big as diff between 9th and 10th! 😬 it looks like that theres no more so much as a midfield, but rather a top half and a bottom half…
I know everyone hates lance, but to defend him: his Q1 time was 2 tenths faster than Alonso's and would had he driven that time in Q2, he would have knocked Piastri out. So he's inconsistent but he's not exactly slow
Inconsistent means slow in f1, it's the consistency that matters
Atleast the midfield will be extremely competitive based off the qualifying results today

6:20 I don't think Piastri got it together, more so that Lando bottled his final lap again. He messed up the first sector and was like two tenths down on Max, and it wasnt even a personal best. He also in an interview that it made him push harder the rest of the lap which was a mistake.
He was .35 down after 1st sector to be precise. But yeah another top 3 start gone begging due to his mistakes. To think he was so flawless in 2021-22 and start of 23

If lando nailed his final lap, he would have been a few tenths ahead of Oscar so Oscar didn’t have a great session but will bounce back

Lando wasn't lucky to get to Q3, he did one run on used tyres in Q2 and still made it through comfortably (time wise).
How do the Constructors rank via qualifying?

I think we see from fp2, Lewis mentioned him and George were on the same set up when they went 1 and 2 Lewis was ahead by 2 tenths, Lewis mentioning he went for a more race set up is prior to quali is definitely believable and obvious because when they’re on the same set up Lewis is faster.
Or looking back to last year that was evident and Lewis would be miles ahead on race day but he’s comprising too much at this point. Just qualify well set up for quali and hope race pace is good or find a balance.
If they had the Red Bull then yea set up for race pace all day but the Merc is no where near the Red Bull as a car as a whole
With the averages, make sure to recalculate every time, and not use the previous average for the next one!

Has nothing to do with CHARLES going too early. Track conditions changed from Q2 to Q3….it got colder and you had no idea what wind was doing on any particular lap….to just assume Charles Q2 would be quicker then max Q3 makes zero sense
Well Charles went quicker period
Charles also had used softs on Q3. They used 2 pairs of soft on Q1 because they feared the track evolution and they only had used softs for Q3.
I learned that Leclerc is one hell of a qualifier and that Ferrari is a beast.
I also learned that racing has been unfair to Hulkenberg, the guy has a monstrous pace and he's always at the level. In any other top team he would've fought with the best and maybe bested them.
I also learned that Redbull has a great car, but Max is the one that makes it the best as this qualy wouldve been loat with any other driver behind the wheel
We will have to see in the race about that ferrari since it always turns up in quali.

I remember Bottas being a great qualfiier at Merc who often beat Lewis....are we all sleeping on Zhou? The kids had a very senior pro teammate unlike others who had other rookies/juniors like mich schu/yuki or even Albon for Logan. Kids flying under the radar....sure he comes from Shangahi..but the kid grew up in Sheffield! Up the Yorkshire massive in a sport full of southern nancies....gotta rep the lad, sounds like a great kid
Zhou is decent driver and doesn't get the credit he deserves. I don't buy the whole 'Bottas is checked out' narrative. People don't rate them because the car isn't performing. Put them in a car that can regularly get into the points, and suddenly this perception changes.

Max said they maximized quali, could be a tenth or two here and there but you can say the same for any driver. Leclerc's Q2 time would have been good enough for pole, Max just put in the lap time when it mattered the most.

@@eehsanmuley5037 The post session radio is when the drivers are at their most honest. I think Max did maximize quali and on another day Charles may have pipped him to pole. But yes, the Red Bull is miles ahead on race pace and it won't be competitive tomorrow.
@@areebsiddiqui758I have to agree with eehsanmuley, I don’t think it was Max’s 100% I’d say it’s close like 95-97% but that 100% was shown Jeddah 2021 Section 1 + 2 and Monaco 2023 Sector 3
@@ap0llo.0ne51 Those are one off magical laps where the driver exceeds the limit of the car. Every driver is giving 100% in Q3. Of course, you can push at a hundred percent but still not get the perfect lap cause of a mistake. But no driver holds back and leaves time on the table in a final Q3 run. Max put in as good a lap as he could, there was no reason not to. He knew it would be close between him and the Ferraris. Leclerc messed up his sector 3 otherwise it would have been really close as his Q2 time showed.
Unfortunately I think it was another mistake in Q3 for Lando... on his final lap he went purple in sector 2 and green in sector 3. But his first sector was well off the pace. I believe it was 4 or 5 tenths slower than Max's first sector and was a yellow sector. Even if he had improved that by 2 or 3 tenths that would've bumped him up quite a few places, possibly onto the front row. I really want Lando to succeed and I think he has the potential to win races and challenge for championships, but these quali mistakes need to be ironed out now.
Yeah he admitted in post qauli interview he made mistakes in the 1 first and 3rd sectors.

The reason Charles went faster in Q2 was because in Q3 track temps dropped to 20 degrees celsius, NOT because he jumped the gun like you say
Had temps not dropped, we would've seen a 29.0 from Charles and a 28.8 from Max
That was not the only reason. He also made the time with used softs. They were afraid because of the track evolution and they used 2 pairs of soft on Q1. Verstappen had a new pair of softs so i think it would have been possible for Leclerc to get pole if he had made a good allaround lap.
Way too early to talk for 2024 but I have a personal scale for qualifying average :
+0.0 too close to not create chaos
+0.1 perfect delta good enough to 1 2 on a good circuit but enough to not start next to each other on a bad day
+0.2 enough delta to know who’s the number 1 driver
+0.3 too much gap for 2 experienced drivers
+0.4 call your reserve driver because something is clearly not working properly
