I grew up fishing shallow water lakes where we used our rods as depth finders and to determine bottom type. Our hand was the temp gauge. We had a weight on a cord for measuring the really deep 12 to 20 foot waters.

I’m new to fishing. I’m from Southern Illinois. I’ve been fishing this is my 3rd season. I watch all your videos on my TV. I’ve always told my boyfriend if I could meet 1 pro fisherman, it would be you. You keep it real. You show the good, the bad and the ugly. One thing I would ask you is what is your bait you have the most confidence in, no matter what lake? Thanks for posting even when you’re not catching. That beats me up hard. But I love you just move on and let that day go and still have enthusiasm. I still and always will love how excited you are when you talk about fishing. Keep the videos coming. They really help new anglers. Even women who fish. 😆

My Uncle caught 8.4lb smallie on Eufaula is 2006. Was the state record until 2012 or 2013. Love Eufaula. Im fortunate enough to have this fish in my living room on a pedestal mount. Makes me proud looking at it knowing He and I share the same passion

Thank you for breaking down Rayburn, it's my home lake. I'm a shallow water fisherman and these banks get beat up so hard, it's getting tough to catch fish. Trying to learn to fish deeper water. But not the best at reading my electronics. Love your videos, they help this old man learn new tricks. Thank you so much.

Hey Edwin. I'm one of your greatest fans. Edwin you always pick lakes that are famous to the Bass circuit. I live in NC and we have lakes that are older like Kerr Lake and Gaston and newer lakes like Jordan Lake and Sheraon Harris Lake. Lakes that are even fished by MLF but you never break down anything in North Carolina. Please consider breaking down some lakes here for a change. It would really be appreciated.

Man, my heart skipped a beat when you announced the winner. I first thought you said Hamilton, not Hanlon! 🤣 BTW, I’m “that guy” from far northern CA. I hope I’m not being a pain about Shasta. I just love these “Where to Start” segments so much. Incredible info! Don’t sell yourself short on Shasta. I’ve been told it probably sets up much like Table Rock. Similarities, Highland Res., All 3 species, tons of standing timber & rock, 1,000’s of ditches & hundreds of humps, deep(500ft at F.P), T.R. is about 30% larger, etc. Biggest difference is our huge water fluctuations in the west, but that actually helps finding structure on google earth. I’m just honored that you mentioned us out here. Love all of your vids. Good luck at Redcrest! I’ll be rooting for you.

There are some big largemouth in Smith lake Edwin just nowhere near as abundant as the spots for sure. 12lber was caught a few years back on bed, I caught a 6lb 5oz last year during a tournament. We had 4 largemouth that weighed almost 17lbs. Happened in June.. in less than 3 foot of water lol.
