    Hi
    So, quite recently, as you might know, I became the owner of a Vauxhall/Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTi year 2011...
    These are known to suffer from excessive water in the ecu... lol
    In this video I will show you what you can do to prevent future problems...
    Hope you enjoy the video.

    I did exactly this just a couple of weeks ago after watching several vids on the problem (including yours). My ECU was the same one as yours, and my drains were all BLOCKED with mud. Thankfully, the ECU was absolutely fine, with zero corrosion. Phew.
    I have now sold the car because I need a van. Thankfully, it will now be all good for the new owner! I can sleep at night too.

    Great video!
    Little story about you have saved my and other cars from scrapping in Denmark:
    I had this problem with my own Opel Corsa 1.3 CDTI from 2009 in december last year, after my mechanic has given up on my car (will not start but rotating) after he had used lots of time on it and finally recognizing it was the ECU that was water damaged after pressure from me.
    I contacted a Opel workshop and the price for a replacement of the ECU was £1200 for a new one.
    I took the case in my own hand and found your channel on youtube and out of your other Corsa ECU videos i have repaired my PCB - THANKS!
    I have now helped 2 others with the same problem and need repaired the ECU or replaced with a new unit after lot of problems with there mechanic.
    So thanks for your great videos and after that i have been seen lots of your videos!

      I have corsa 2009 D
      My car doesnt crank
      A few mechanic came over and no one knows what is wrong
      An electrician said ECU water damaged most likely but im not sure
      Now 2 questions:
      First how i can make sure the problem is from ECU
      Second can I buy a complete ICE kit and replace it?

      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 3 lety

      Hi
      The only way to know if the issue is the ecu, you need to scan the car, and do some testing...
      You can buy a ecu kit, but your mileage will then be different...
      Best, if is the ecu, is replace the ecu only...

    Found out about this 'idiot design' problem, weeks after buying my 08 CDTi in 2021.
    Found it almost impossible to remove the ECU, but got a sneek view of the under side.
    It looked like a little water may have got to it before, but the ECU was dry and working fine with no dash warning lights.
    Been removing debris 2 times a year from the drain holes (and I drive through floods lol) and not had 1 problem in 3 years.

    Very useful video, I had a Corsa a few weeks ago which had been badly damaged through water getting into the ECU. I went a few steps further by putting stainless steel fly screen behind the vent slots to stop the large stuff like leaves getting into the water channel, I also raised the height of the ecu with some spacers. about 3mm. Followed all this with a good plastic coating of the repaired module casing. As always L & M have given solid advice to keep these cars running. They can be repaired so get on with it. Thanks Louis

After a load of mis-diagnosis I found a similar issue on a forum. Turned out to be the turbo wastegate actuator had seized up. Soaked it in WD40 and after some gentle persuasion with a flathead screwdriver it freed right off and never had an issue with it again.

    I have a Corsa D 2006 and I have just passed my test, my insurance hasn't even started yet and I haven't gotten to drive. I ended up turning the key wrong, by that I mean started turning it, finger slipped and it stopped the engine mid crank, I now have the service light popped up on my dash and the car wont crank at all and I cannot get it to start, I am waiting for a friend to come round later and check the car using an OBD to see what the issue is and hopefully get the car going by giving it a push/bump start... Hi there, do you have any tips for sealing up the ECU if located in this mounting position? I have a '07 1.7 cdti, and I'm soon to be on my second replacement ECU. The 1st replacement was fitted after all drains were cleared, and within 6 weeks the component was flooded again. I checked all my drains with a 1.5litre bottle of water, and they all drain away really efficiently (there was no pooling).. so I'm not sure how my ECU came to be swimming in water again. I'm also not sure if the ECU company who provided the 1st replacement didn't re-instate any sealant, or how exactly it became so water damaged it was un-saveable. Do you have any ideas how this could have happened on this make of car? I want to try and make some amendments before fitting the 2nd replacement, as I can't afford to have this problem again. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Owain

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi
      Any sealant, to perform as it should, you need to open the ecu, clean it properly, specially where the sealant is going to be applied, and then seal... I use something that in the UK is known as black tiger sealant... but I know this sealant is known by other names... is similar if not the same, used to glue windscreens...👍👍👍

Перемешайте и промойте двигатель, опрыскивая воздушным компрессором. Экология конечно страдает ... но она безопасна для электрических соединений и пластика.
