- Welcome to my unboxing, overview and gameplay of this Nintendo Game & Watch game called Super Mario Bros (YM-105)
Released in 1988 by Nintendo, This is one of the best games in the Game & watch library & the only one that I had as a kid.
Please check out my other videos! - Hry
Can we take a moment to appreciate how impressive this is? Like... they somehow managed to get a game's worth of levels, challenging gameplay, and a genuinely decent game, hell, a relatively decent Mario game... to run on a glorified calculator.
Aren't we all playing on glorified calculators though
Absolutely! I think it was a very advanced G&W compared to the majority or the older fixed screen games in the series.
to be honest this looks suprisingly playable. definitely something I'll buy.
If only they were not friking 100 dollars
@OctoScoryo thanks
@OctoScoryo where can I get one?
If you’re willing to dish out $200
Was almost hypnotic listening to the sounds of of the G&W being played.

You know why I am here in 2020

Haha, yeah. I noticed this video starting to get a lot of new attention since the announcement of the re-release Mario G&W 😁
@@caprilaser3 yeah.
For me, the most impressive thing here is the condition and cleanliness of the unit / box.
This brings back so many awesome memories for me as a kid
In terms of single-screen G&W games, in my opinion, this one was the best. The gameplay is fast, addictive and downright fun - the sound effects and tunes are catchy as well✌
I agree, its a great game, likely the best single screen as you say, but Zelda in the Multi Screen is amazing. I’m currently documenting each and every Game & watch on my channel, I’d appreciate any feedback, if interested just click on the diamond icon- thank you.
Who's here after the 2020 Mario game and watch?
Quite a few by the looks of it 😁
Me
gamer moment
everybody because thats how time workss
Next to Fire, this is the best Game & Watch game ever. How incredible the variation of levels possible on the calculator type of screen
Yes, there is a good amount of level variation for a simple LCD screen!
THIS is what unboxing/demo videos should be like. Thank you for showing the instruction manual so well.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it👍🏼
It's so cool to see how this is one example of the beginning of what eventually led to the Game Boy.
I’m busy reviewing each and every physical Game & Watch at the moment on my channel (click the diamond icon if you’d like to check one episode out) but I’ve found so much that would be reused later by Nintendo, the Color scheme of NES and Famicom were used years before either console launched. The D pad’s first ever use, the embryonic DS, and so much more. Thank you
I had one. Lost it. Bought it again. That was early 90s or so. I can play for hours and hours. Fun factor is 9/10
Was there a level with flames (like the bullets and hammer)
Fantastic ! 👏 I grew up with these old systems , such memories .
Played this with my Gran, Lovely memories, RIP Granny!
OMG OMG i had one of these! was talking to a friend and made a search. thanks dude you brought me back to 7 years old!
Well, this aged very well due to recent events!
*I had the Game and Watch of Donkey Kong, Oil Panic, Octopus, Popeye during 80s.* 🤩
I almost got one of these when i was a kid. Man you got a good one, perfect condition that box is outrageous. Classic game, nice playing.
Oh man.. a friend had this game.. Seeing this and I remembered it instantly..
Such a nice series to collect. Tip top condition!
I dont know if anyone mentioned this or not, didnt read every comment...
This little detail is pretty neat and also extremely unnecessary. It comes up so seldom you'd wonder why they would even go to the trouble. Anyways, the following conditions would need to be met to see this. First off you would need to be playing the game, second you would need to have the maximum Mario's which is 3 shown in the top left, third you would need to have the alarm go off while you're playing the game. Then and only then will you notice that the alarm dragon is roasting Mario with his flame causing smoke to come off of him. Not sure if I said that right but basically I suppose because the third Mario head is "too close" to the dragon in the top left when he does his fire thing letting you know the alarm is going off it will indicate with some smoke if that third head is there! for no reason other than just for fun!
Wow! This easter egg is not mentioned even in the collector’s books about Game and Watch.
One of the greatest. And one of the last game in the series.
Very nice look at this one. I worked in a store back in the 80's and saw most of the Game & Watches but I don't think I ever played this one. Did not know it had so much to it, so it was really good to see all of the levels.
The unit you have looks mint.
Very nice! I never knew that Nintendo did a Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch.
That box looks great Dave, I never owned any of these but did play them as a kid! Would love something like this, great video.
I remember this game as a child!
Went here after seeing the trailer of Game & Watch Super Mario Bros. Edition that is coloured :D
Omg my nostalgia just exploded!
Great condition to have this in and nice to see the gameplay again. I never owned this but I did play a fair bit on a friends one. I never completed it but I imagine it resets to the begining.
Had that myself back in the day, from Argos too, the first 'scrolling' handheld game I ever experienced.
When I was a child in the 80s, browsing through an electronic store with my mama, I only gotten a 5-second glimpse of this game because we had to go somewhere else. In 2020, l came here just to see more of it.
Ha! Cool story 👍🏼 Thanks for checking it out all these years later
I remember when I first got this game I was 11. Haven't seen it since till now ☺️ I have to have it!!!!!!
Pretty sweet condition game and watch there mate. Great you have the one that's the most nostalgic to you all boxed and complete. It takes me back watching you play this. I remember some guys at school having a similar one. I never owned one myself though :-(
Back in days where things were made in Japan
But back then, Made in Japan items were treated the same way Made in China things are treated now. Inexpensive, and many in quantity.
That's what I always liked about game & watch: They were simple, balanced and offered smooth gameplay.
Tiger games chose the different way: You wanted to buy it because the overlay-sticker on the display looked like "That must be a gem of a game!" but when you started playing it just took about 5 minutes to reach a level of frustration that made you turn off the game forever.
Nice! I bought a DK 2 from a friend back in the day.
im getting the mini version of this. cant wait till it gets here!
Robloxlover678 XD I've been considering one of those! Has it been worth your money or is it not worth?
Um... Bit late on the response there.
Agh i remember seeing it at a store like 2 years ago and thought it was just a replica. Never saw it again after that
Very nice Dave, another great new addition to your game and watch collection, lovely condition too mate, Enjoyed the gameplay, some nice skills there:-)
This just reminds me of those tiny black and white arcade cabnits
I've actually got this now brought it of e.bay a few years a go mint condition game and the box cost me about 100 pound but at the time checking each week on e.bay couldn't get it any cheaper they fetch good money boxed love the box looks great good upload video 👍
In my childhood, or even these days, there was a variation of those games. The classic brick with multi games.
The design of the system itself was so good; those color combinations! Would love to see Nintendo re-released retro handheld with this shell (... maybe 8/16 bit)
...
...
This now sells for more than a Switch! Those used to sell for 25$ back in the time!
I've got this from back in the day but not boxed sadly. I do have Pinball (dualscreen) that is boxed though. The great thing about Super Mario is, it still plays pretty well.
I have an absolutely mint, boxed one of these, even including original receipt. Highest offer wins!
Good video Dave. Was hoping you had an overview of this G&W as this is next on my list. Lovely looking unit, box etc also looks awesome.
Hope all the building work is going well and look forward to more videos soon.
WOW, this game is in a very good condition, congratulation. I like this game too. But unfortunately I sold it in the past. Greetings from RetroGameCity 🙂
It’s funny cos I loved Mario as a kid. I had this too. I loved my nes. Mario was the best for me out of sonic and Mario. My 3 year old has recently been introduced to a ds. Fitted Mario skin as he too loves Mario. Put a R4 card in it and now just under a month and he’s brilliant on new super Mario. So funny just how good he is. I collect consoles and have 2 of literally every console. I’m so glad he loves playing games as they will be his one day. My little boy can’t talk which is upsetting but he’s so clever. I’m very protective of him and very proud 🥲
Que recuerdos !! Fue lo primero que recuerdo de mi primer videojuego en la vida
Awesome collectible you got there,i have snoopy tennis from nintendo!
Thanks! I’ve seen a Snoopy Tennis but haven’t played one. G&W are so cool 👍🏼
@@caprilaser3 I want to buy the new mario one for the heck of it because i didn't bought yet a classic mini system! ;)
I had this (and this was my only G&W I've ever owned)
I remember starting the game at Loop 3 by holding the Jump button while beginning a new game...
I want this so bad but people are selling it for CRAZY prices like 700$ because it’s “vintage”
Mr.Froglito what do you mean? Highest price i’ve seen is $15, most are around 10
@@dani.munoz.a23 where the hell do you live?
You can get the Mini Classics version
there was a soviet bootleg called "Elektronica" with characters from soviet cartoons
If only they were easily available nowadays
great vid, want to get some game and watch games, only have club nintendo game and watch ball game
I have the game I remember buying it in from K-Mart long time ago.
cool video
Thanks Sir👍🏽
To be honest I used to have this when I was a kid. I didn’t know they had re-released this.
Yeah same. I didn’t know a new one was coming out until this video started getting lots of new attention.
7:55 if you want the freaking gameplay
Aww, I wish they still made these. Especially considering how popular Mr game and watch is in smash bros. They should at least revive it in some way.
*mario jumps on a game and watch*
if the 2020 game and watch gave us 5 games, mario 3 and this would be it.
The true og
This is nice...BUT WE CAN MAKE IT BETTER! (And The Game And Watch Color was born!)
I played this decades ago on a train to NYC. The batteries were getting weaker, I was near what I thought was the "ending", but I had to get off the train. ...I've yet to see a youtube video of anyone showing it. Are there any videos of the end, anywhere?
How come the Tiger games weren't like this?
One of my buttons fell off and I had to glue it back on... It barely works now lol
**it seems the author has deleted their joke**
this originally came out in 86, Nintendo is releasing a version with the original NES, not the game & watch one, besides, this video is 5 years old
Please tell me you’re being sarcastic 😐
@@mudkipmadness7072 lol
I have found this exact game in a game and watch bootleg and I thought that was just a made up game but as it seems was actually a Mario game
Im Here From CZcams Recommended Also 2020?
Theres a cheat built in if I remember to skip levels by holding down the buttons
Aaand it's relevant again. Well done, Nintendo.
i want a Game and Watch so *BÅĐ* iT loooks addicting and fUn plz plz plz befor i ded God Bless uuuuuuuu😭🙏
Wat
I have this in mint condition.. What do you think it's worth mate?
It was around usd20 in 90s dollar
What happens when you press the game button and jump button and hold the game button? I noticed it said something about that in the manual.
probably toggles the sound i guess
or probably warps you to a world( maybe world 3)
if I recall correctly it jumps you ahead in the game .usefull as the game is a bit repetitive and way too easy at first
I’ gonna make it on smm2
From where you bought this
Please share link
This was an amazing game, especially when you compare it to the garbage that Tiger Electronics were putting out.
Nintendo shouls use blue design like this for their new game and watch
Agreed. This is my favourite looking G&W!
Im more of a casual collector.
I got mine without box/manuals for only 69 usd off ebay.
Where I can buy these nentendo watch games
What's up with hammer welding Lakitus? 🤔
When you beat the game, it loops over to a harder difficulty so bullet bill and Lakitus start appearing.
I paid 15 quid from Argos
How many level totally are in this game?
I’m not sure how long it goes on for. But it seems to loop over several times.
I know this is a stupid question but, where can I buy it?
Plenty on eBay. That’s where I got this from years ago 👍🏼
You need to beat the game in this video this is really unacceptable
Is there an emulation of this online for Android?
Azwel no
That’s nothing just wait to game and watch mario 35 in. November 13 2020
Does it have a mute button?
Unfortunately not

I remember playing these as a kids. Horrible. 😂
So uhhhhhhh... can this be counted as a mainline Mario game???
Yes! the story of this game is amazing, Mario got high using a calculator
