The Indian yogis say we're in Dwarapa Yuga so how did he calculate that we are in Kali Yuga?
Well... you know, when trying to understand about concept which are strictly derived from Sanskrit text of India...
It's a much wiser move to invite an indian Yogi instead, ...since they know the language, plus have grew up in Spirituality.

अवतार का एक मात्र लक्ष्य होता है, धर्म की, न्याय की, स्थापना , उसके लिए उसे दोनो काम करने होते है - ध्वंस और सृजन दोनो - जेसे हर बार चिरकाल से किया गया है !! इस बार का तो लक्ष्य पूरा विश्व मानव ही है !!!
हम सभी को बच्चे का जन्म ही दिखता हे, लेकिन उसके लिए मां व पूरे परिवार को 3-4 वर्ष तक , गर्भ-ठहरने-जन्म-खेलने-चलने तक मे, नन्हे से शुक्राणु के पूर्ण बालक का विकास चरणबद्ध रूप से हम नही देख पाते है , पूरे परिवार को कितनी खुशी व कितना कष्ट होता है यह हम नही देख पाते है !!! इसी प्रकार कोई सतयुग या युग परिवर्तन का बालक कल्कि आज जन्म लेकर कल ही घोड़े पर सवार हो संहार करने निकल पडेगा, यह अनहोनी न हुई है न होगी , !!! ईश्वर के कार्य क्रमानुसार सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हो रहे हे, वह होते रहेंगे!!!!
United Nation के प्रेरणास्रोत व भारतीय आजादी मे सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पुरूषार्थ करनेवाले, संत श्रीअरविंदजी(aurobindo) पांडिचेरी, के अनुसार , कलियुग का अन्त व सतयुग का शुभारंभ सन् 1836 मे महानतम् अवतार भगवान श्रीरामकृष्ण परमहंसदेव कलकत्ता के, जन्म के साथ ही हो गया !!!!
कलियुग की समाप्ति व सतयुग का आरम्भ, यह समय ऐसा ही होगा जैसे सूर्योदय के पूर्व का काल, जैसे सबेरे 4 बजे से 7 बजे तक, भोर का समय,तब जब अंधेरा सबसे घना होता है , यह युति संध्या कहलाती है !!! दिन-रात के बीच यह कुछ धण्टे की होती है, पर दो युगो के बीच यह संधि 175 साल की होती है, जोकि 2011 मे पूरी हो गई है व अब भगवान सूर्य के दर्शन, सुबह की लालिमा के दर्शन, जीव-जगत की चहलपहल शुरू दिखाई दे रही है, सतयुग के लिए महाकाल की जाज्लयमान अग्नि प्रकट हो रही है!!!
हम सुधिजन यह देख-अनुभव कर सकते है कि विश्व मे धर्म व न्याय के पक्ष मे आमजन 2011 से एकाएक मुखर होने लगे है , मोदी भी 2011 तक साधना-तप-तपस्या तैयारी कर रहे थे !!!! अब शैने शैने क्रमानुसार धर्म व न्याय व नैतिकता की स्थापना का कार्य पूरी धरती पर चलेगा !!!

I'm Irish, a former Catholic, and then former atheist, who's currently studying Buddhism which I very much connect with, but somehow I'm now drawn to Hinduism as well. I can't articulate any of this stuff to my friends, but somehow it all makes sense to me in a way beyond words.

During my childhood in school in Gujarat, India, we were always taught that world is a family and we should respect others religion and beliefs. Hindu religion is one of the most liberal religion in the world. You can pray to any god tou want. As I grew up, I learnt that people around the world and people of other religion has different perspective. Specially one peaceful religion whose people always glorify it and harass others.
First yuga : Satya yuga - absolute righteousness in people.
Second yuga: Treta yuga -mostly righteousness but adharma starts.
Third yuga : Dwapar yuga- adharma become more strong.
Fourth yuga : Kali yuga - adharma at its peak but righteousness exists in saints.
Also it is transformation phase of 10000 years from dwapar to kaliyug, 5000 years gone and 5000 years remaining before real kaliyug

Hello everyone, thank you for this post. The term "Kali-yuga" comes from the Vedic scriptures, which are written in Sanskrit. Veda means knowledge, the task of the Vedas is to give us knowledge. These writings now explain that we live in a temporary universe divided into 14 dimensions. The terrestrial planets like the Earth belong to the lowest dimension in which matter has the greatest density. The higher a dimension, the more subtle it is. The more subtle, the slower time runs. What is a year for us is equivalent to a day two dimensions above us. There are dimensions in which divine creatures live and there are dimensions in which demonic beings live. The earthly worlds like our earth are intended to give living beings who have achieved a human form of life the opportunity to strive for perfection. In the dimensions of the demons this is not possible, there the meaning of life consists solely of sensual (physical) satisfaction, especially sexual satisfaction. In Kali-yuga there is not only a decline in consciousness by chance but because matter is the densest in this age and so the identification of the living being with the material body is strongest. So in this age we always act in the sense of the body = "I am a woman", "I am a man", "I am white", "I am black", "I am a Christian", "I am a Muslim ", "I am Russian", I am American, etc. And all personal, family, social, religious and national conflicts arise from this false identification. This false identification is called "ahankara" in Sanskrit. In this age, the only method to attain liberation from samsara is to chant the holy names of God through Mantra. Satyuga is 34560 years , Then Comes Treta Yuga which is 25, 920 years , Then Comes Dwapar Yuga which is 17280 Years , Then Comes Kali Yuga which is 8640 Years Long. We are in Kali Yuga ~||~ Mahabharat War Was Fought in 5561 B.C and Kali Yuga Began in 5525 B.C when Lord Krishna Passed, and it will end in 3115 A.D when the Earth Will End. Then Again Sat Yuga will Begin. But with Time Human Mind and Habits will keep Decaying.
At the End of Kali Yuga, Hindu God Kalki Will Come and Fight the Evil Forces that would have Taken Over The Planet, Defeat them, and begin Sat Yuga Again after a short Period.
There's still around 1100 years for this Earth left.

The current Kali Yuga began in year 3102 BC, 36 years after the Mahabharata War and ascension of Lord Krishna.
Kaliyuga starts before Kurukshetra war. It starts the day of end of Lord Krishna's formal education with his guru Sandipini. He blows his conch Panchajenya to mark the occasion.

Kurukshetra war was the finale of the 3rd yuga i.e., Dwapara Yug. And The Kali Yuga started after 36 years of Yudhistira's reign after the war of kurukshetra.
The King of that time wasn't Yudhistira but his GreatGrandson Parikshita (Arjuna-subhadra's son Abhimanyu's son Parikshit).
An incident takes place with King Parikshit when he was on a hunting trip and that incident marks the beginning of the Kaliyug and the end of The Dwapara yug.
The supreme power always comes at the end of every Yuga to clense the humanity and leaves behind only those who deserve to enter the next yug.

But if we see, the Kurukshetra war which was fought during the final years of the Dwapar Yuga (also a Yugantar) also had so much evil. Even those fighting for Dharma were using chal kapat to gain victory over the evil. Such was the power of the evil Kaliyuga already!
But Kali was spared by King Parikshit and this Asura shakti is said to be a mindset which continues to thrive till today and is in fact now growing to its peak.
While Bhagwan Kalki has already arrived and is waiting to announce his presence the world will see a lot more suffering through wars (even nuclear attacks), pestilences (pandemics), natural calamities and even mutations in animals and humans due to nuclear radiation and celestial attacks (solar flares or even asteroid) on Earth which will cause a shift in the axis and grid breakdown.
What we're experiencing now is the reset or Yugantar and this is the beginning stage. The culmination of all wars and destruction will happen in the next decade when all the forces will become visible, almost like a Manthan. Those affected by Kali will become unimaginably cruel but Dharma will get us through this time. But I believe the new golden age though peaceful at last, will take a lot of time for resettling and rebuilding humanity, and it will be nothing like we know today.

(1) Dr. Robert Oppenheimer's statement, "Today I have become death." It is said that he used to repeat this line often.
