Tips for oil painting
1.Know your tools and materials,take time to know it Kasi ung ibang oil paint is may halong toxic something or chemicals na pwedeng maka harm sayo
2.Try din na mag limit ka sa pag gamit Ng lahat Ng oil paint,try mixing colors para Hindi sya agad maubos and ma save mo pa sya in other paints mo,
3.sa painting start ka muna sa thin layers and habang patagal ka Ng patagal mag paint,iiincrease mo na Rin ung oil and substance
4.draw the simple ones

Hi, Z! Not sure if you're gonna see this but I hope these tips help you, if you ever see 'em. 😊
1. Laying out your palette the exact same way every time you paint really helps. You'll find it easier to access colors quickly. I bet you won't have a hard time keeping the colors on your palette organized since ayaw mo sa kalat. You're off to a great start. 😉
2. 24 colors yung oil paint set mo, but I suggest you try to use a limited number of colors on your palette. That way, mas makakatipid ka ng pera/paint and you're actually forced to practice mixing your own colors. Half the fun is in mixing anyway. You can just pick titanium white, medium yellow, brilliant red, phthalo blue & burnt umber and you'd pretty much get all the colors you need without even opening the other tubes. You can choose to use the cadmiums and cobalts too, if that's what you prefer. BTW, consider buying an extra tube of titanium white (a big tube of it preferably). Trust me, you’re gonna need it.
And hey, if you have trouble remembering combinations, you can scrape off a bit of the color you've mixed on your palette and tape it on paper & write down the combinations. Pag nasanay ka na with mixing, you won't need to do this anymore.
3. When it comes to medium, most folks will suggest linseed oil. Pero dahil na-try mo na mag-acrylic before I'm suggesting M Graham's alkyd walnut medium. It's nontoxic, so it's safe to use (except kung allergic ka sa nuts). Sa acrylics kasi like you what you said, ang struggle is yung sa pagblend/pag-mix ng colors. Like sobrang bilis kasi matuyo, so kailangan mabilis ka din. 😆
Lucky for you, hindi nasayang yung canvas and the finished painting actually looked great for someone na hindi naman talaga nag-aacrylic. Like how did you even blend that thing? 🤔
The thing about oil paint naman is it might be easier to blend, but it kinda takes a bit longer to dry. I'm suggesting the alkyd walnut medium, kasi it dries faster than oil mediums pero mas mabagal naman siyang matuyo than acrylics so no worries. And it helps thin down the paint so you can blend a bit easier. Another plus is di mo na kailangan ng solvent when oil painting. Kung gusto mo sya i-try, you can purchase a 2-pack M Graham's alkyd walnut medium and walnut oil in ArtNebulaPH. Nasa PHP 590 yata yung price.
On a side note, it's totally fine not to use any medium at all. You can use the paint straight from the tube. It can be a bit stiff and thick though. And cleaning the brushes and palette is gonna be a bit harder. 😬
4. Sa paglinis naman ng brushes, you can use solvents/paint thinner. Choose low odor solvents like Gamsol and Sansodor. But if you don't want to use solvents you can actually use oil. I recommend safflower oil/walnut oil. Linseed also works. You can even try to use ordinary vegetable oils (like safflower) from supermarkets instead of the artists' oil in cleaning your brushes and palette basta make sure lang na walang additives yung gagamitin mo. ✌
Kung ayaw mong mabuhaghag yung brushes mo, The Masters Brush Cleaner is a must have. It works like magic in keeping brushes in shape and it also smells really great. Sana all talaga iniingatan. 🤣
I almost forgot. You can soak your brushes in oil (safflower/walnut/linseed) it can keep them wet for days when you don't feel like cleaning your brushes right away. 😂
5. You should consider trying water mixable oil paints too. It's beginner friendly. Super safe. Traditional oil paints could be a bit overwhelming for some people, lalo na pagdating sa pagpili ng tamang medium at solvent na magiging comfortable ka na gamitin mo. But if you choose this type of oil paint, you don't have to worry about choosing mediums/solvents. Tubig lang sapat na. Just don't dilute it with too much water. One of the best things about water mixable oil paint is madaling linisin yung brushes. You can just use water to clean your brushes and palette. 😊
You can also use oil mediums with these paints if you want to slow down the drying time. Medyo mabilis kasi syang matuyo eh.
I recommend Reeves, since mas affordable sya compared sa ibang brands. A 12 color set typically cost around PHP500. Yung 18 naman, I think it is around PHP700. But yeah, you can just get the 12 color set, since you can just mix your own colour naman eh. 😉
Pag nagustuhan mo yung feel ng water mixable oil paints, you can upgrade to a better/pricier brand.
