- Antennas-Amplifiers make high quality HF/VHF/UHF high power capability yagi's as well as other ham radio accessories such as band pass filters, low noise amplifiers, power splitters and more!
Today I review the replacement antenna for my remote site, the PA144-432-19-3-2CAP antenna which is a dualband 2m/70cm yagi on a single boom with two separate connectors. How well are these antennas built and what kind of performance can you expect?

I too have one of these and it is on an IC-9700 and it works very well. The aerial is good in high winds, it is built well and doesn't present too much metalwork to the elements (of nature). It appears to have two side lobes, particualrly on 2m, but I have found that they are useful (and don't detract from the main forwards lobe) when say in a 2m FT8 contest, you can still hunt the "dx" and see the other stations coming up on wsjtx. I would highly recommend.
Thanks for your comments Terry. I've got nothing but praise for Antennas-Amplifiers, high quality stuff. Cheers and 73
@ON6AB Oddly, one of the side lobes in particular is useful in VHF/UHF FT8 contests as I can be pointing 90 degrees
into EU and a lobe around 310 lets me see/hear into NW of the UK. Likewise if I point the beam to the NW of the UK a lobe points into France.
Ohh that company was in my part of the world. I ordered one to try out. Thank you for the tip Hayden!
Your welcome Harry! Looking forward to your video soon!
Thanks Hayden, this was a fun and informative video. FYI: It was also the first time I had seen your channel, well done and I look forwardto future videos.
Welcome aboard and thank you Jose for the kind words. Appreciate you stopping by and watching my videos and glad you enjoy them.
That's what I use, can hear more than I did with a 10 element Wisi on 2m and a 19 element F9FT on 70cm.
Another great video , thanks guys👍
Finally got mine up the other day. Bought it after I watched this video so a bit of a long "planing" time on it :-)
Got mine one year ago directly from YU1CF. The only difference is that the boom is made of 2 pieces instead of 3 and it works flawless.
Just pay attention not to break the plastic mounts by tightening the screws to much.
Great advice Marius and glad to hear you're happy with your antenna
Oops reviewed the video again and saw the website. Thanks video was very informative.
it looks solidly built. Not a bad price too. :)
#TeamReplay for the win!
Great video guys.

Thanks for going back and watching all my vids on replay mate. Appreciate it!
I have a small antenna-amp antenna it’s nicely made. Check the wiring it could be an impedance transformer not a choke PS I got my ratchet spanners at Aldi....Now point it north! 3IH
i am fixing to put up some sort of 2m 70cm ant an maybe a 6m tri band dimond Ground Plane (forgot the model) but i love beam's i have had a 70ft tower for most of my life & i have used several beams over the years an i got rid of every thing a fuw years ago (I ran a little repair shop for 20+ years as well ) but i dont want to go down that rabbit whole again so i say a good Ground plane 20-30ft tall and be happy..again im still doing my research as i want a good one !
I caught that in the intro. Yes, coconuts can migrate.
Thanks for the great video!
Glad you liked it!
TV Antennas here have always been Dual Band Yagi's, now change that 75ohm into 50ohm cable, and keep and Directors, i have seen some 6 meter boom with 2 many elements to count
Really? All tv antennas are log periodic here
It's very likely that there is some interaction of the 2m elements on 70cms as well resulting in multiple lobes. That's the price of having 2m and 70cms on the same boom.
next time use a bigger table
Great video, thanks
Hi Hayden, have you had much chance to abuse this antenna at all? I am looking at getting one for contesting. Cheers Gary, M7EGD.
G'day Gary, I have just installed it in the last week at my remote site so it will get a hammering over this season. I have had a similar 23cm antenna installed there for over 18 months and it has performed great!
@@HamRadioDX Cheers Hayden
Would a coaxial BALUN have been better than the matching arrangement that is being used.
Where can I pick this antenna up? I don't see a link to a site. Can you provide?
Nice..................
What was the link, did I miss it
In the description of the video 👍👍
I hate nyloc. So slow to do up. I like the boom
