Dave and Bryan indirectly calling 90% of Aew's work gymnastics, and not wrestling is hilarious. All it took was 2 women from NXT.
Dave wouldn't call these women wrestlers fake to their faces or he would get beat up, they will put a real hold on him and he will see how choreographed things are then.
Dave Meltzer bashed Triple H for not talking about the Vince McMahon scandal yet Meltzer is the guy who STILL refuses to admit to even being aware of the Chris Jericho accusations.
Or of the MAJOR scandal Tony Khan's Jacksonville Jaguars are embroiled in.
The hypocrisy is laughable. Imagine what Meltzer would have said if Anna Jay and Julia Hart had that match on an AEW PPV. And even that isn't a fair comparison, because Anna Jay and Julia Hart have both been in the business longer than Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan *combined*
Anna and Julia have been in the business longer than either girl combined, and they still wouldn't be able to put on as good match as the one Kelani and Sol had on their best day.
Just here to remind people that Dave Meltzer said that Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa was a match on the same scale as Hulk Hogan vs The Rock.

Want to know why Meltzer buried this match? Go look at the crowd attendance from NXT Heatwave: it's bigger than any AEW show this year.

And Disco was among those taken the least seriously in the Cruiserweight division because he was seen as just the dancing Disco guy to most fans.

In truth, the match had a few too many acrobatic moved and lacked some story telling, but these are two young Girls, and still, it was very, very entertaining, and THAT is what is all about

Sol Ruca is already a better worker/wrestler/athlete than Mercedes Mone and she’s still in NXT, imagine the talent gap between Mone and Belair/Ripley/Stratton etc etc

Aside from the match, Kelani Jordan would make a great Kurt Angle style heel. The way she was listing her accomplishments, referring to herself in the third person as "Lani," and saying the people deserve a champion like her in the pre match promo was classic narcissistic heel.

I personally love gymnastics and acrobatics in wrestling matches as I do when I’m watching an action/sci-fi fantasy series on tv. That’s the beautiful thing about pro wrestling. There are different styles and there is something for everyone. And while the ladies’s spots weren’t as polished as say Ricochet’s and Ospreay’s I applaud them for including it in the match and look forward to seeing more. Furthermore people are right to call out the double standards and hypocrisy against these two young ladies.
Wrestling, as a whole, as a business, would make a lot more sense if it had less gymnastics in it anyway

The most hilarious thing is Meltzer and Alvarez claim to not be biased. It's insane and the aew freakazoids agree with them.
They actually did a spot that was almost move per move exactly the same as Osprey and Ricochet did back in 2016 or 2017 in Japan but they got a bigger reaction. Meltzer and Alvarez gave that match a lot of praise back then but heavily criticized Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan. The problems people have with Meltzer are the double standards, the bias and the hypocrisy.

There wasn't really any issues with that match, they did pretty damn good.
If he didn't enjoy it personally, that's fine, but the actual match itself was pretty good.
If Dave was consistent with that position, when talking about Tony's company, his take on their match would have credibility.

It just shows you that they know what they are watching in AEW is awful, Indy crap wrestling but they pretend they like it and that it's good just to make Tony happy so they can ask questions at the scrums and interview him on their podcast.
Today as long as your entertaining someone in the wrestling umbrella....it's wrestling..regardless of what happens in the ring.
Calling it "not wrestling" is a bad take. All of the acrobatics that Sol & Kelani were doing were reversals and counters to wrestling moves. It wasn't them just running the ropes, cartwheeling and flipping and then landing in a synchronized superhero pose.

The match was not all flips but since they did flips, people want to 💩 on it as if they don’t cover flippy-ass AEW daily. Every flippy episode of AEW needs this same treatment.
This kind of matches are not for me, BUT this wasnt an heated match. They are friends in keyfabe. It was indeed just an exibition. But also they traded holds and wrestling moves too, the choreography didn't last the whole match and if you watch the two matches superimposed it was literally the same sequence as Ospreay and Ricochet. So hypocrisy is at its strongest

Everyone has an opinion and is a critic i get that, but when i was a kid i saw moves and thought wow that must hurt bc guys sold now my 7 year old girl sees moves and asks me to try it on her bc it looks fun. Honestly I rarely see eye to eye with Dave’s opinions but he likes to throw swerves out there like this and nail it on the head. Sol is a good athlete, but she’s a choreographed mess. I don’t see the hype with her at all and although she can do some impressive flips, it really doesn’t count for much if you can’t do the actual wrestling aspect. She’s green and is in the right place to learn and change but I have a feeling this is her. This is all she’s going to be, shock the fans with some cool flippy shit but that’s it, and unless she can actually start learning and stop making her stuff look so choreographed then this is it with her.
Also, I can’t stand her silly gymnastics entrance when she gets in the ring. It’s stupid, just get in the ring and wrestle. 🤦🏾♂️

@@Ticketman99 of course I get the irony but at the same point with the guys you mentioned there is a fluidity to how they move as opposed to the females in general. Women don’t wrestle the same as men, some can. But the majority they’re all nowhere near as smooth and fluid as the men. The flippy spot monkeys Dave loves may be part of terrible stories and generally bad booking but atleast the majority of their moves and matches seem more fluid and natural. (Granted again there are exceptions to this but I’m speaking more generally)

They can’t wrestle end of story. So they fill their lack of technical skills with flips and cartwheels. But since they’re in WWE we aren’t allowed to bury them. it was one of the fakest looking matches I've ever seen but the fact that they would bury this match yet praise the total TRASH that AEW puts out just confirms once and for all that they're biased.
This is where Meltzers' AEW bias really shines through.
One of the things I dislike about modern wrestling is the fact that, despite the impressive athleticism and intricate spots, I find it hard to suspend my disbelief and really feel that I'm watching an athletic contest, let alone a fight. Much of modern wrestling resembles, yes, a gymnastics display. And Meltzer has been the main advocate for this style of wrestling.
Well, he's also an advocate for MMA, Japanese wrestling and the history of the territories, so it's not like he doesn't like real-looking shit. He's given Gunther 5 stars multiple times IIRC.
