Love your teaching! I was a 19 week apprentice until last month. The union "dropped" me because I didn't have enough hours. I didn't have enough hours because I was never dispatched. I wish I have someone like you to shadow. Keep up the good work!
Taught school/coached for 30 years. Remember, you learned things one step at the time. Teach him about what youâre working on with review at the end. One step at the time. Ask if he has questions. You know this stuff inside out, he doesnât. If he wants to he can gain a lot of knowledge and experience from you. Great job as always

this guy is going to need alot mentoring. mike, you could write a book "hydronic and steam boilers for the modern time." you have a knack for teaching in ways people understand. like i said before, because of vids from you and steve lav, my son and i have been able to re-pipe our boilers correctly and do our own work on our systems. been saving up for a combustion tester because we're the type that like to do things right. buy once cry once, right?

It's a lot of info for a newbee and easier to understand with pictures.

Apart from brushing the carbon I've also 'run the tubes' on an old (Raypak) hydronic system. Using a drill bit and wire brush to clean out the deposits inside the water tubes and also installing new seals as part of the job. After doing this work the unit ran very well for another ten years. A bit labor time intensive but not too complicated and if you do the work yourself it's very cost effective as compared to a service company or individual doing the same thing. Satisfying as well. Great video!

Wow thank you. Now all I need to do is to find someone in San Diego to do the job. Except I have just Hot Air Furnace that I want the pilot swapped out on. After watching this I'm wondering if I should just get a whole new furnace. Furnace dates back to the early sixties. I've replaced the blower once so it still runs fine, I just don't like having to pay extra to keep a pilot light lit.

Pre Covid I was interviewing like crazy, the kids get a job for $25 per and next day they are looking for the $27 per job. Most job applications I saw had no longer than four months at the same company. They did not have the skill, and I just could not make enough money off them to justify the aggravation. Knowing I had no help became more of a comfort than the many concerns I had having them. I also work part time as an inspector and man do I see how bad the labor is out there.

Does the probe come into direct contact with water if it goes directly into boiler? And when inserting does the boiler do to be drained? With my boiler burners only Ignite when zone callers for heat but not to just warm boiler Is there an aquastat problem

How often do you clean those two boilers? I'm sure the fins on the inside are dirty. Also the hot water tank on the right looks like it's been starving for combustion air. Is there a make up air from the outside near those units?

That changes some prospects into a customer? Or are they still prospective customer until they have been on the maintenance plan for some repairs? When you perform your initial on site visit are you recording your video for helping to determine what else is in need of maintenance or is there a follow up appointment for each appliance?
You made a reference to the odd arrangements of the flue pipe as an aside is this a follow up appointment to determine whether flue size is adequate?
