I'm actually grateful that you didn't dead head the roses first. This way we get a more realistic view on the range of colours the rose goes through from start to finish which you don't find very often when researching roses, so thank you for being so thorough, even if it was by accident. Your rose garden is a dream!

We have in common lot of the same David Austin roses. I agree: Jude wins hands down for fragrance! Your garden looks so vibrant, colorful and alive right now. Lucky you. I'm in Central California where it's been between 105 and 111 and my roses look like they are about to faint from the heat, as well as myself. I love your channel, Darrin. You have such a calming and sweet nature.

Gertrude Jekyll is what started my love for old English/David Austin roses. It's beautiful tho my last one has remained small and not sure why. Yours is little bit paler than what I usually expect as more of a deeper pink.. Golden Celebration, if I had to pick one of the ones I've grown over the past 20 years, has been the most reliable, most prolific, least prone to disease rose. Just gorgeous and dont even like yellow! It's a fabulous rose I recommend to all! I've not had great success with whites here in our coastal climate, yet Desdemona does well! Jude the obscure has the best cupped blooms and very fragrant! Many of mine are planted as yours - close together... Yours have been ok? I've been told not to do that (yet have in certain areas).. Thx you for sharing!

Yes!!!!! Waited so long for this! Fantastic rose border Nr.1. Thanks for letting us know your personal preferences and your thoughts on all the roses. My favourite language to say Rose is German (which you skipped in the listing) , but a rose is a rose is a rose (it´s a second, I know). Isn´t it ridiculous that us rosarians avoid deadheading, even if we are aware that new buds are forming on our roses??? Weird!
Thank you so much for uploading your magnificent Flower Bed Nr. One, I can´t wait for many more to come. Loved the tour as always. Best wishes, Hanni.

What a heavenly delight! I am wondering if your roses here are all in the ground. It appeared as if some of them were in pots? I am trying to plan my own rose beds for 5 DA roses I have ordered and was hoping for a long shot of your garden to compare sizes, etc.of the ones you mentioned. Your Golden Celebration is a knockout! I wanted to order her but read that she grows extremely large; but yours, with pruning, is perfect in that bed! Thank you for sharing all of this great beauty with us.

The fruit scent you are thinking of is lychee I think. Rosa Rugosa smells of that, there is some rosa rugosa in some waste ground near where I am growing wild.
The poppies are indeed loved by bees and bees do make a higher pitched buzz sound when they are inside them, known as buzz pollination!

Darren, this may sound silly but when you say you prune them back hard, when is this? after each flush or at the end of the season? My rose bushes grow very tall in my warm climate. I'm not sure if I have to prune them back after each flush.🤷‍♀️ I have much to learn still.😅
