- Folks, this is a very quick Tone Tour of the gain amp models on the new Line 6 Spider Valve MKii. I hope you enjoy the video. Please note, description above may contains affiliate links to companies like Amazon.com, Sweetwater.com, ThomannMusic.com, Reverb.com, etc. If you click on one of them and make a purchase, I'll receive a small commission with no added cost to you. Thank you for your trust & support!
im really into modeling, i know is not like having the real thing, but for a very affordable price you get a very good sound.
Rock on!!!
the crackling and popping is probably the tubes in need of a replacement. If the amp was set up in-store where people could come in and play on it, there's no telling how much time the stock Russian tubes have clocked on them. Not long after I got my 112 (same hardware and whatnot) I got some sound probs due to my power tubes going out.. vol would blast to oblivion all of a sudden when this happened. Went out, got a matched set of mesa power tubes for it and its been running like a beast since!
@lestat102786 This is just the second version of the amp. A few improvements here and there. The Original was based off spider 3 for its effects this is based off the spider 4 engine I believe. I also believe this has more amp models than the original. 16 here only 12 on the older version. Overall just a new and improved version. Im not really a line 6 fan but in my opinion this MKII sounds much better than the original Spider Valve hd100.
@44WhiteChocolate Line 6 has tons of support manuals on their website which go into detail of saving, editing and renaming presets, as well as MIDI references if you use MIDI controllers. Just go to the support section and search for your product, and yes, they have guides for the FBV series too.
@Mo7Vsta When you switch amp models on the MK II it automatically changes all the settings to a default value...the fact that he didn't tweak the knobs when he changed amp models means nothing...now, you can set your EQ controls to how you like and hit the "MANUAL" button and then your EQ settings stay the same for each amp model even when your change.......but, you're correct each model needs to be tweaked to your specific guitar, playing, etc.....
Own one, HD100 and it is just what you say @ orion8251 But once tweeked it is a cool amp.
You are absolutely right. The sound on a video is different from the real sound when you're standing in front of it
The world needs a TTK-theme!
Thanks man great video, just bought this amp.....impatiently waiting...
so mnay people hate on line 6 because of its 'modelling' i use line 6 because i love the tone i use the blue insane and it is unique, i been using line 6 for 3 years not and have never been disappointed. most people who havent played or heard it for real need to go try it first before they bash it and stop reading internet forums because its other peoples opinions not fact!! love your vids tone king and hope your alright :D
I like this amp is not bad but the Mesa Boogie dual rectifier and Marshall JCM 900 are my favorites !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Well put. I feel people jump on the hate Line 6 bandwagon.
I am more into using pedals with a regular tube head, however this sounds good. My friend uses a Flextone II head, I like the sound he gets with his amp even though it is solid state. He is into the modeling amps and is looking to get a new amp, I will suggest this one.
great video! Messa dual rec red channel= sweeeeeeet tone...
Line 6 FTW!
i like the last one and the dual rec 1st one.
BLUES !
It sounds really amazing when you put on manual mode, and start tweaking the settings. It even makes my Yamaha Pacifica sound good after some tweaking. I've had it "crash" on me or something, it's happened maybe a dozen times over the past 5 years. Mine also seems to get really hot after a couple hours. I'm guessing the tubes need replacing, since it's started sounding sort of fuzzy as well.
that metal amber sounds pretty good
@dbenc I agree if you want an amp's sound, there is nothing that will satisfy a tone freak like the real thing!
I have this going thru 2 4X12 Marshall greenback cabs - absolutely killer tone (clean/crunch/molten metal) - your demo sounds very very fuzzy and doesn't do it any justice - too bad cause it's a tone beast.
i own this amp. doesn't sound processed at all. sounds just as good as any other tube amps. it also depends on what cabinet you run it through mind you. i run mine through a B52 cab to get a better low end. love it.
Exactly.. most of the haters are playing on the less than stellar 30W solid states and whatnot, which are still pretty good for what they are.. those are the same type of people who aren't willing to put their money where their mouth is and get a line 6 tube amp and really experience what the word "tone" actually represents.
@MrMaxRiley Yes every bit of the tone stack is adjustable ..for example the Insane Blue dimed gain is super saturated (unuseable IMO) but dial gain back to noon or less and you get great bluesy break up tones so there's lotsa gain options. I have some presets with volume pedal set pre rather than post to act as if a guitar volume is rolling some gain off to clean up or saturate.
This amp if very useful for people how play a little bit of everything and look for completely different tones with as less gear as possible. Not my cup of tea, but not bad at all. Interestingly enough my favorite was the Line 6 original. (Last one) Cheers!
I like Metal Amber and Insane Amber for tight punchy gain. The video uses stock setting on Insane amber and too me gain is set too high dial it back to 1200 and it's alot tighter sounding.
I also like Metal Blue because of the Mid knobs ability to go from fuzz gain to saturated modern gain using the mid knob to sweep through the spectrum and it seems to cut through when playing at gig volume with others the best.
@44WhiteChocolate You're welcome. If you're having problems installing devices and software on your computer, you may just need to update your service pack or your drivers. The best way is to try to get Adobe Reader on there, because then you can read support manuals AND geek out with the D'Addario string gauge tension chart! :D Hope it helps. A little at least.
hey ttk, when you changed the amp modes, you left the EQ knobs how they were, and talking from experiance one great setting on one amp mode sounds alot different on another, you can get alot more from it if things are tweeked
Well , I've got one ;P
I really have to say that for clean sounds class A blue is the best one !
For distortion the Metal amber is awesome !
With passive pickups Insane blue is also very nice , especially with phasing.
I dont know why , but I hate the crunch models ..
And High gain blue is also not that good!
But at least this is a great ampilifier !
For all you Line6 haters, plug in and crank one up yourself, videos will never do them justice. A dual rectifier sounds just as "processed" in any youtube video.
Very nice, I have always dug Line 6. Are you ever going to do a review/test of the new Ibanez Tubescreamer head? Heard a demo from NAMM and fell in love with the sound of that little thing.
@44WhiteChocolate Well, crap. lol Perhaps you can either email Line 6 for support manuals in text format, troubleshoot your laptop to get adobe reader installed (If that's the problem) or go to a public library with access to reader and a printer and print the pages up there. Sorry if that came out as a jumbled ADHD mess, I just woke up. lol
@givemeafuknbreak111 not to mention the quality of the speakers the viewer has accounts for what you hear on youtube.
I'm Wondering why there are 2 Mesa Dual Rec modes. Did you do a typo, and one is actually supposed to be a triple rec? Great videos by the way, I watched your other 3 videos for this amp, and you really helped me develop an opinion of the amp. Ill have to try it for myself to see if i really like it though. Thanks for the vids!
Need to get a fractal axe-fx and play with that for a bit :O)
WHAT´S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LINE 6 SPIDER VALVE 100HD AND THE LINE 6 SPIDER VALVE MKII 100HD..??? PLEASE
@custommade21 what kind of speakers are in your b52 cab?
@washburn7x he probably has the better quality one, which has celstion vintage 30's. (same as in a marshall 1960 cab)
HAHA, so many haters.....usually the people who hate Line 6 amps (at least the valve amps) are people who are too stupid to understand how to set them up......trust me, this amp sounds f'n DOPE if you learn how to use it and set it up properly for your guitar and your playing style....I push a Les Paul through mine and it rocks out with it's cock out........
@metalgtrfreak hey, ive been on the site you can only download them in pdf format and my laptop doesant support that format
Ya, I just got this amp, bought it used, got it home and turned it on, played fine for 10 minutes, then started crakling and popping like a bowl of rice crispies and then it started going up and down in volume on it's own and the master volume knob is super sensitive like my my girl on her monthly! any ideas if it is an easy fix? anyone had these issues with their bogner head?
whats the difference from the normal line 6 spider valve hd100 and the line 6 spider valve MKII hd 100? the head looks the same the only difference is the "MKII" can i pls get an explanation the difference between the 2 amp heads?? other then one is way more pricy then the other one lol
@lestat102786 Basically, the biggest difference between the HD150 and the Valve MKII is that the MKII has a tube preamp with a solid state power section, whereas everything on the HD150 is solid state and digital. Ultimately, you'll get better tones out of the MKII (ESPECIALLY at high volumes).
@metalgtrfreak lol my laptop is really weak an slow but ill defo try it thankssss
for the love of god can somebody pleaaaaase tell me how i rename a sound that i like? i have the fbv express board and i have 4 sounds im using 2 clean and 2 dirty but i can not rename them so i can explore and save more sounds, please help
@goodbyecadillac i wasnt tryin to come out offensive its just that its hard to read sarcasm on the internet
What's the difference between MKI & MKII?
@orion8251 amen
@metalgtrfreak lol thanks dude
If you want something with more tonality, get an amp with more than just 2 pre-amp tubes. However the price jump is disconcerting. I picked up this Amp from GC for 550.00$ What "quality" tub amp can you find for that price.....not many.
hey Tone King.... I know this isn't the time or place for this sorta thing... But can you please give me that Bernie Rico you have? I swear i will give you every penny I own, all 30 cents of it.
You should get a BC Rich Warbeast, the headstock is AmAzInG for stabbing folks of all demeanors! The tip of the headstock is shaped like < for maximum harpooning of any lowlife who has the audacity to throw a man's pride and joy, such as this amp, to the ground. I can only hope karma is going to hit that guy like a freight train hitting a coke can. For his sake he better be glad you weren't able to grab him, If he threw mine on the ground, he may not have made it out of ICU..
@mjb1475 Thank you Sir \m/ \m/
Give me Bugera or Carvin any day
@rockpwnsu
Okay, nevermind.
It's just too easy to misinterpret stuff like that on the web.
Rock on
Josh
None of these videos are of plugged straight into the Amp and nothing else
I didn't hear the clean tone.
@goodbyecadillac r u blind or do you not see the tubes?
The distortion effects on line 6 stuff are just aughful. Just realized it today on my solid state Line 6 Spider 3. Tried to feed the line through a tube-preamp, didn't do much. I thought it was the "lack of tubenes".. But the low end sounds just as bad here. :\ No offence. Good quality video still.. Now I know to stay away from Line 6.
The spider valve mkII front end is not based on spider III its is based on spider IV.
The spider valve non mkII (mkI) is based on spider III.
@@zakklee2556 Ok 2010.
None of these tones sound that great to me.... It sounds just like there cheap combo amps. Sorry about that. I really enjoyed the demo. I like the new Bugera stuff out there, really crunchy.
Not cheaply made my rig has been in some crazy metal punk thrash and punk shows where mt amp got slammed into by some fucking weak pit poser and grabbed my amp and tossed it in the ground I tryed so hard to grab him and beat the ever living shit from him what he just did to my music life well life in general but nothing broke ripped the leather a quarter inch tear in the corner epic fall road worthy in all sense but not idiots in the pit worth I now stand in front of my guitar like a solider
@rockpwnsu I see them, but I don't hear them.
"TheToneKing" seems like a nice guy, but most of his videos sound like garbage and apparently don't do ANY of the equipment reviewed justice.
Anyway, could you be less offensive, dude?
Or am I just getting the wrong impression of what you've written me cause mimic's absent in the web??
this is the worse demo in the world
All you guys in these videos play way too much! I just want to know all the features, a brief sound. Simple. Man, it really annoying.
The amp sounds like complete shit in this video.
A lot like the Line 6 POD Farm tones that I've come to hate. It has that treble fizz that's hardly bearable.
I thought the MKII had tubes. This sounds nothing like it.
lol diezel herbert sound the sound of line 6 pff lol the diezel herbert sound million miles away from line 6
Not to organic .....sounds like Line 6 always does.
I think that the gain at 100% is way tmuch, I have Line 6 spider 2 and I played in death metal band I have set it max to 1 o clock.... through the good cab this amp sounds good
