You have no idea how great Los Angeles was back then unless you lived here at that time. It really was the California Dream.
not anymore democrats have destroyed that place
Of course, it was anything's better than to. Day, but don't forget remember the smog. You choked. You couldn't even breathe in the city.
I showed my father this video he got emotional 😭 he is now 63 years old he lived in los angeles from 1974 to 1984 and it was the best time of his life ❤️
Love you father so many memories for him in this video ❤️
I can relate with your father i lived in LA from 1966 to 1984 i'm now 65 years old .
I'm 63 years. I know how your dad feels. I have a 73 Corvette and a 74 Tran-am. Both take me back to the 70's when I take them out.
@@youtuber5291 I can relate to I'm 63 and live in LA from 1958 to now .
Woooah! That is ancient times!

Awkward answer...😬

I was 13 years old and I remember clearly as if it was yesterday, and I'm still here in LA roaming the same streets on this video...... Lv LA
people's hair looked so healthy
People over process their hair these days. Just let it naturally do it's thing and it will thank you.
Their faces and bodies also looked (and were) natural and healthy. Everything nowadays is overdone, IMO.
@@EYE_GOTCHA yeah weed is so healthy
Everything seems so real back then , now everyone today is plastic and fake …
Yes, not purple or green.
I love the natural look of the 70's, miss those days. I was only 8 years old in 73 Tho.
What in the world are you talking about? nostalgia will mess your mind. If we’re your age now in the 70s and looking back at footage of the 1930s you’d be saying I love the natural look of the 30s lol.
@tubluyola they don't sound very offended
I was 8 years old too at that time and it was fun times for us kids!
No women with tattoos,,mult ear piercings or nose piercings, no jeans all shredded and torn at the knees. AND NOT HEAD DOWN GLUED TO THEIR CELL PHONES. People actually talked to each other face to face.
My kind of era!
I’m 25, never went to America, live in the middle east, but ADORES watching videos for old American cities. feels strange, feels with nostalgia, and I cry. I don’t know why!!! Is it soul reincarnation? 😅 Am I an American guy who lived the 50s/60s/70s/80s? Btw, I have the American accent without even talking to any American before 😟

I’m 66...I grew up in the SF Valley north of L.A. it’s crappy in most areas there now!
@vicki ladu
I lived in Granada Hills back in 77...loved it there then.
I bet it's crappy where you live now.
i wish there was a time machine. i wanna just experience the 70s
Me too
I miss the 70s.....remember growing up in the San Francisco bay area...anyone has a time machine please...
me three!
Me too
i'm 52 and L.A. born and raised. and yes believe it or not people really were that thin back then. nowadays probably half the people in this clip would be overweight or obese. odd too because we ate plenty of junk food back then too i ate tons of sugary cereals, hostess products and candy of all kinds but back then there was no sitting around the house playing video games i was out and about so much (especially once i had a bike) i can't help but think how easily i could've been abducted.
Because we were always outside playing until dark on our bikes and roller skates & skateboards . We didn’t have computers & cell phones
@@passadonutyep. I was never indoors as a kid if I was I was with friends or baking
In 1973 I became a teenager!!! 13 and in between 7th - 8th grade. Look at how beautiful everything looked! People actually had hands free!

High Plains Drifter was released in movie theaters April 1973.
For anyone who cares, this is the week of April 18th, 1973.
Bruce Lee wuz still alive
Good ol days. I remember riding a bus with my friend for 40 miles to see the mighty Led Zeppelin live at the Forum.
Both our parents thought we were staying at the others. Never got caught and luckily was never murdered either!
One of the greatest nights of my life.
Don’t make bands like them anymore!
believe me or not i spend hours of My life studying theses videos.
i’m 16 and i love watching these videos. everyones hair looked so good haha
A billboard for a '73 Ford Country squire wagon.
Did it have a 351 or 400 ci.
I remember Loves restaurants
The Barbecue was really good..
I loved LOVES!!
As a person who shuns overtly branded clothing, it's great to see that we were once the majority.
What are you saying
73 was a primo year. One of the best for sure.
I always wonder if anyone recognizes their family or themselves in these videos.
Nobody in this footage would still be alive. Creepy to think about really.
@@noelgibson5956
There are plenty of people who were young enough in the video to still be alive now. It makes me wonder just how old *you* are for you to think in that way. 😬
@@noelgibson5956 Seriously? You have never seen a person over 50 or 60 or even 70+ in your life?
I remember seeing the Santa's Village commercials as a kid!!
2:43 The class graduated 29 years before the footage was taken.
If a class reunion from 29 years ago happened today, it would the be a class of '93 reunion.
almost NO obese people
How nice to see people looking where they are walking, making eye contact with other people, and moving aside to let people walking the opposite direction have some space to pass them! Today when people are looking down at their phones instead of looking where they are walking, common courtesies like this are all too rare.
Love seeing the clothes of that time!
If they only knew what was coming in 2020!
2:45 Class of 44' 30th reunion. Part of the WW2/Greatest generation. They were still fairly young then.
Love it. I was 16 at that time. Felt so good
I was also 16 in 1973.. The vibe of the 1960s were still very much alive in 1973.
Great Looking Back At The Passed
I am playing 'Its for you' by Pat Metheny it goes great with this film clip. Since the uploaded post has no music to spice this great Los Angeles street scenes.
LA as a city was better too, much better than today's slums
Thanks 😭 at least like this I have an idea of how was to really live in the 70s 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Ancient.
With time things change usually not for the better……always wanted to see Los Angeles in the 70s but sadly was not able to.
“You go to LA on a dare, and you go it alone “
No cell phones!
No shit!
That's me at 4:20 crossing the street, i had a cellphone.
@@metalmopars That was you?! Deadass? How does it feel to had been caught in the film?
Cell Phones existed that year, but they probably would have been at least half the price of a new car, if you even knew they existed. I'm not even sure if they were available for public sale at that point.
@@101Volts They did not exist in 1973. At all.
At a time when people weren't a damn prisoner to their stupid small screens and were looking forward instead of DOWN. Yeah, much better times indeed. Before Google, Apple, Facebook, Instagram and other social media garbage ruined life as we knew it.
8:33 my family owned this car color and all. lots of seats
너무나 그리운 시절, 젊은 시절이 너무 그리워서 눈물이 납니다
I bet they're all wondering who's going to be on Carson tonight.
At about 01:33 what was Mike Nesmith doing there? Did someone randomly film him or was that from something entertainment related?
Good question! And good eye! That definitely is him!
makes one wonder what the purpose of this footage was. Papparazi randomly filming, hoping to spot a celeb during editing?
Idk if that's Nez...
And look at it now ...
Okay since I didn't come to existence until 11 years later, I dare ask this: A white woman publicly and freely with a black man in 1973?!! Such bravery! I can't imagine that didn't go unnoticed and get unpleasant looks and ire from others, at least occasionally...
Oh yes before electronic devices before people were staring at their phones Before people got all inked up on their bodies people look normal acted normal they were crazy people then just like now but in general society was much more civilized and normal not distracted by electronic devices and the woke media. It would be fascinating to know if anybody seen themselves in 1973 and they're alive in 2022 they just ran across these videos and seen themselves I find that absolutely fascinating if that ever happened.
Summer tea you are the coolest love Metheny "farmers trust" is another tune would work for this footage, kindred spirit chow
I want 99 cent deli sandwich dammit!
Good video but Woulda been better if it had music like the Eagles or America singing in the background
Imagine explaining to someone from the 70s how it is you are watching them.......
We are watching them on a technology so far beyond their imagination that they wouldn't understand it if we explained it to them
Eh...only if they were complete morons. There were primitive computers back then so you could just say there’s a thing on a computer called CZcams where the people, not Hollywood execs etc, choose and put up footage of all sorts.
Not really...you're exaggerating the technology today as if it is so far advanced as to suspend human belief.
The Sony Walkman was a far more technological advancement than having to wrangle with access codes and keeping up with all of the insidious contraptions that are necessary for these things, just to be able to talk on the phone or listen to music.
The greatest attraction with any machine is for it to be compact and mobile...nobody really needs a computer, camera, radio, television, day planner, spreadsheet, alarm clock, bank teller, book, newspaper, movie theater, et al, in a contraption the size of an average adult's hand..
I came up even before the 70s watching a CARTOON depict what the future could be like, and I'm still waiting for air-travel automobiles...
SIDE NOTE: It took me about 6 tries to post this message because of glitches in the technology that causes me to have to repeatedly post and edit just to get this message to you to read....I been writing for 10 minutes to post a message that should have taken 2.
So much for advanced technology, huh.
hmhm no. Having a device in your pocket that can play HD video, and has millions of videos on every conceivable topic, and updates constantly, as well as being interactive with anyone in the world, and is free - is absolutely incredible and these people would be rightfully mindblown@@garyaugustus690

So creepy how many women and girls they recorded
WHAT??!! They did not have cell phones back then??
Hehe!
Nope lol
Yes and no. The first cell phone call was April 3, 1973 so they *did* exist, but if they were available for public sale, they would have been super expensive. Cell Phones were expensive even to the early 90s.
@@101Voltssomeone said this video was from April 18 1973, that means the first cell call was just days prior! Crazy!!
Back when LA had personality and young men had hair.
I'm always struck by the hands-free existence. Now everyone has backpack or bag. Or at least a water bottle.
Where is the Manson "Family?"
I see young baby boomers everywhere lol
