I loved that boy so deeply. I say boy because as I grow older, it becomes clearer that he was just a child. I idolized him. He was my big brother. Losing him was worse than all the consequences of my own mistakes put together. I want him back. Everytime I think about him, I can't believe I have to live in a world without him. I'm so sorry Renata. Thank you for making this. It brings me a little closer to him whenever I watch it.

Renata, this is Mara from next door on Parkway Terrace. I just wanted to say that this was so beautifully made. Babysitting Shane, I remember him as such a fun and bright light and I'm so sorry for what he and your family went through. Thank you for this insightful and beautiful tribute, it truly can happen to anyone and Shane was lucky to have such loving parents ❤

Tonight I watched again, this time with my daughter. Suddenly I got a flood of information about a friend of hers from high school who has struggled with addiction. Sounds like she has had no idea what to do. Good news is that she has opened up. It's a first step. Thanks Renata.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I'm so happy this film encouraged your daughter to share her friend's problem with you. If the girl's parents don't know where to turn, pls share this video with them. Hopefully they can use some of these resources I have noted above. My heartfelt wishes go out to the family. NEVER GIVE UP! ♥️

Oh Renata--what a beautiful tribute to such a warm and loving boy. I remember him fondly and this film brought me closer to who he really was. This is a moving and poignant portrait of the progression of the disease of addiction. Such an important film that should be seen by as many kids as possible. I want for kids to see the signs of addiction, the feelings that lead to addiction and the struggle to not want the high. I am heartbroken for you. You did everything a parent could possibly do. Your honesty with him and your constant support is so inspiring and so very real. Thank you for sharing the most painful experience of your life with all of us so that we can go forward with the knowledge that we need, as teachers, to see the signs , too. I pray you have found this process of making the film cathartic and that it has brought you some peace. Much love to all of you. ~Phyllis
