Watching Ferguson erupt on livestream was a mind shift for me too. I would stay up till like 2, 3am just watching events unfold like XYZ and the news would be like ABC and I would be like WTF 🤯🤯🤯
I remember listening to NPR on the way to work and as they did the hourly briefing I yelled in my car, "WHY AREN'T YOU COVERING FERGUSON?!" it really felt like a betrayal.
...then they started covering and that just threw me...

"No one can contradict my account of my life" 🤯 wow!! Growing up I was often told "yes, but..." everytime I called out something. I didn't feel I was given permission to just be, I often felt invalidated. It took me a really long time to understand that had little to do with me and more to do with the other person's ability to deal with what was. This resonates with me so much. My city has had some wild protests this summer and some incredible journalists live streaming what's really happening. It really effects your ideals of the truth and who controls truth.
