  • Have a look at a long build up strategy that allows the UK and the US to perform a massive combined landing in France, severely weakening Germany to the point where it either cannot sustain its attack on Russia anymore, or eventually crumbles and is taken by the Allies.

    Fantastic video. In practice though, it is common for the German player to use both subs in mid Atlantic to take out the 2 transports and destroyer in the US home waters. It would be interesting to see your strategy rebuilt factoring this into the equation. Thanks for contributing to the game.

      @Sevaekor  Před 3 lety +6

      Very true yes. I've seen that strategy a lot but in my own personal experience I've both focused on the British fleet and encountered a lot of people who focus on the British fleet, mainly because if you don't use the subs as fodder you stand a very likely chance of losing a fighter or two. But yes I agree, taking out the starting US fleet can easily cripple this strategy and make it take an entire extra turn, taking a little bit of burden off of Germany. Thanks for the comment!

    This may be a strategy if you're playing against novice players but any player with some skill will make you pay for leaving Japan alone.

  • @richarddefreitas2507

    Your theory is good but England would not have any of Africa at this point. You would not have that much IPC’s with UK. Plus Japan at this point would be knocking on Russia back door. Germany could easily turn troops away from Russian front and deal with the landings. As Japan would wipe Russia out of war.

    • @spittlefish5208
      @spittlefish5208 Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah it's not a horrible video, but the lack of showing what UK would actually do is pretty bad lol. Japan is gonna be ripping and tearing yet this video doesn't give much detail about what to do to slow that down.

  • @haraldnilsen6253
    @haraldnilsen6253 Před 3 lety +2

    When wiping out the German fleet in round one, if you can, it may be better to take a bomber as casualty to preserve both fighters if you want defensive cover. The IPC difference is really only 2, so it matters more what you intend to do.

    I really enjoyed the video. Well done. I am new to A&A and your videos have really helped me out. My only concern is that you don't do anything outside the Atlantic theater. As Japan pushes through Asia and German through Africa all three Allied powers will have their income reduced but you only accounted for that on T1&2 US. Again, great video and very insightful, just my feedback.

    Every turn I was surprised to see Japan still hadn't taken the rest of China. Japanese troops in the East were just sitting there, idle. And it's not like Russia was going to turn any of its forces in that direction.

    I usually try this with the allies and I find it the most effective allied strategy. Now the question is, how do you counter it. I usually buy mostly infantry with Germany, try to grab what I can in Africa, and push with Japan so I can destroy Russia before the allies take France, but Germany only has the force that I have in turn 1 to push, pretty much. What do you think?

    • @Sevaekor
      @Sevaekor  Před 3 lety +5

      I agree, it's incredibly powerful. The only direct counter I can think of is Germany trying to solidify it's hold on the Atlantic early on, sacrificing the push for Moscow. Other than that, if Germany gets lucky with dice rolls and takes Moscow by R3, that can sway things in their favor, provided Japan is doing a decent job as well from the east.

    • @DunsDeeDowns
      @DunsDeeDowns Před 3 lety

    I have recently faced German Strategy of agressively investing into subs and bombers, only focusing to stop US invasion, no ground units almost for USSR. He stopped me in Atlantic, while Japan went wild and big, taking out Moscow, while I had to build navy long and heavily. How to counter that?

    • @MrKankuamo
      @MrKankuamo Před 3 lety +2

      What i have tries ia doble down on the size of the fleet. Buying one battleship, one AC and lots of destroyers. By turn 4 you should be able to match their units and safely place the british american fleet in front of France, however with few if any transports . On the other hand, Russia has to be aggressive and start taking and holding territories in eastern Europe. The situation east doesn't change. You keep delaying Japan as much as you can, but these time Germany is not pressuring Russia very well.

    love your vids my friend.. what if Ger first turn produces 2 carriers?? would i use the same strategy as stated in this vid?? thanks

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation Před 3 lety +1

      If the Germans buy two carriers on the G1, the Russian can kick it into high gear. The UK and USA should take out the navy asap with their superior air and sea power as the Russian start the long march west. They will eventually take Berlin (turn 6 or 7) because the Germans won't likely have enough land units to counter the Russian stacks.
      If that is the German opening purchase, the Russian should ignore Japan completely and crush Germany.

  • @axpa2771
    @axpa2771 Před 3 lety +1

    would this strategy be the same on the board game version?

    • @BoardGameNation
      @BoardGameNation Před 3 lety +4

      The strategy is very similar with one difference. The tabletop version allows for fighters to land on friendly carriers. This means the US can buy a fighter, mobilize it in the Eastern US, then land it on a UK carrier in SZ 8. It is super fast way to mobilize American fighter while giving the UK the option to move a fighter to West Russia for support.
      If the Germans go full blast at the USSR and the UK is feeling froggy, they can buy a carrier in Round 1 and land one of the UK fighters on it in SZ 8. Moving the 2nd fighter (while taking out the transport in SZ 5) to W. Russia. The US can then move the fighter that started in the E. US to SZ 8 and share the carrier.
      It is likely that the Germans are going to attack and sink this first fleet with it's air power, but that gives USSR a ton of breathing room.
      Good hunting!

    This strategy only works against the AI. If you try this against a halfway decent human player, it will not go as it's so easily planned out here, where the AI does exactly the same weak thing every time. For instance, as the German player I would attack the US transport/destroyer flotilla of East USA for sure, which derails this video's strategy. What's more, don't count on a human Japanese player to just stand by and let you throw 100% of your IPC's at Germany. I have a strategy to take both the UK and India on Turn 2, but it only works against the AI.
