- A program to help providers of aged care overcome a nationwide shortage of skilled staff is resulting in powerful connections between Ni-Vanuatu workers and elderly residents on the NSW mid north coast.
The first group of workers from Vanuatu to take part in the federal government's aged care expansion program under the Pacific Australia Island Mobility Scheme have just graduated in Port Macquarie.
They are living and working a long way from home but say the benefits are worth it... and their traditions of multigenerational care and work ethic and helping boost the well-being of aged care residents.
