Ignoring a "KEEP OFF THE GRASS" sign, can have dire consequences in the UK. This persistent offender was found guilty and sentenced to three months holiday in Bognor Regis.
I have nearly been in the same situation as this guy, but was cleaning my rifle at a friends home together with him. When I went out to drive home I was "beaten up" by a 35 men squad of german police. Took me plenty of time to explain and to show my gun liscense before they went home.I hate neighbours kalling the police then you are at home handling your guns. They all panic because of school shootings and stuff. No normal treatment for legal gun owners. They treat us like criminals ! Damn !
Remember people, if someone breaks into your house, you can't defend yourself! But Pumanic, the person who hates people owning guns but has guns herself, can.
i remember going shooting with my dad at some cans and people would walk by and smile. now if i was to go down with my son i risk going to prison because people dont know anything about them.
I KNOW HOW HE FEELS , IT HAPPENED TO US!!, THEY WANTED ME TO LIE DOWN IN THE MUD, SOME CHANCE! I ASKED THEM WHAT THEY THOUGHT I WAS DOING SITTING IN A HIDE WITH A PIGEON MAGNET OUT IN FRONT OF ME, THEY DID'NT HAVE A CLUE!!, ONE OF THE OFFICERS WAS SO FAT AND OUT OF BREATH HE COULD'NT HAVE HIT A TARGET IF HE HAD TRIED.
@HighlandAirGun I agree, to an extent. Yes the police have to respond to a call regarding a firearm, but do they have to turn up with helicopters and submachine guns? I don't think so. I've had first hand experience of this, when a member of the public phoned the police while I was wildfowling on the foreshore; no armed response unit for me, just two police officers who empathised with me completely and said it wasn't the first time they'd had this. The above video is a gross overreaction.
Even worse, co2 guns are extremely sensitive, people who own the SMK xs/qb range for example, run the runs at 10.5 - 11 ft-lbs, and like you said, the police would test them in abnormally warm conditions which would make them go over the limit very easily. They also test with a light weight pellet, a medium and a heavy FAC rated pellet that you WON'T even use for a sub 12. My unmodded break barrel would break 12ftlbs with a FAC heavy, and they wonder why people have no respect for them.
I used to regularly shoot on a golf course, I would always phone the police when shooting after dark, however, if a member reports some one shooting on land open to the public (even while closed) they have to attend, this meant that as soon as I fired the first shot I would see the police lights coming across the course. It wasnt a problem at least they were doing their job.
Begs the question, why do something like that when you know it’ll cause a problem? Even if it’s perfectly legal. Why not go to a designated shooting range or some private land that isn’t used by hundreds of people every day? Somewhere where guns and gunshots aren’t unusual? I’m a licence holder but I’d be pretty alarmed if I saw people shooting at the back of the 9th tee! Even air rifles!
no to mention when they test your gun they take them into a very very warm room which can actually increase the ft-lbs so even some pcp's you get which say they are under 12 can be over 12 and you get jailed and it not even being your own fault
There's no calibre limit on single-action rifles in the UK and hunting certain animals is legal on private property. If you alarm someone and they call the police, however, they have to respond.
This is why I won't even shoot my Crosman 2240 pistol in my garden even though it is legal, it only takes one idiot to call the bizzies and say "there's someone shooting a gun in the garden" next thing your on a slab in the morgue. He would probably be dead if someone wasn't filming it. What was up with the sound, I couldn't hear anything?
also desease and emmense ammounts of damage are done to crop and land by certain animals if it wernt for these culls we would have very serious problems
@Pumanic No, it's because since guns were outlawed, a massive percentage of them leak onto the black market, guns were harder to get when they were legal in shops that required F.A.C
Before people make comments about this video, ie. public land etc. it is in the titles that it IS a demonstration i.e. a setup just for info purposes. I have been shooting many, many years and never been so much as spoken to on my shoots. At home is another matter. One neighbour sees an air gun and all hell breaks loose. Ignorance is bliss I suppose as the bobbies hadn't got a clue. One GMP WPC thought my guns would be safer locked in my car!! Go figure!
@EnglanderUK I never said what area the laws would restrict, I meant the treatment of guns and to stop them from entering the black market in the current scale.
Yes, we can. No magazine capacity limits either, although modified handguns are classed as semi-automatic rifles and can only be owned in .22 calibre. Other than that, you could slap a 100 round .50 calibre magazine on a Barrett Model 95 (if such a magazine existed).
A licence holder would be the type of person who showed a sound state of mind, anyone without a sound state of mind, really should be supervised and not have access alone.
I said to a copper here once "Why can't I own a firearm"? He said "Because they are lethal weapons", I said "So is a bulldozer yet I can have one of them and kill alot more people and take the town with me", he didn't know what to say haha. Criminalise guns and only the criminals have them.
On your next visit, if you have the freedom and time, try to steer clear of the big cities. That is where the crime and gangs are. The Ozarks in Arkansas, now that is some pretty scenery (about an hour from me). Crime just doesn't seem to be able to get a foothold in the deep south. We farm, go camping, live off the land and everyone knows everyone. Almost everyone hunts and owns guns (respectfully and safely). We welcome visitors here, unlike the way they portray southerners in the movies...lol
@Pumanic And my original argument was that guns WERE on the street because that's where guns end up if they are outlawed, I'm fore guns being in licensed shops owned by law abiding people.
@EnglanderUK That is more likely a choice of the inhabitants not to follow the laws, if you have good laws. Otherwise you need more laws, and better regulation, not less.
I have been out shooting on ground that I had permission to shoot on and had an armed response unit looking for me as someone had reported seeing me with a rifle. They did not find me & my friend even though we were out in the open.A PC did come to see us in the field and told us not to worry and that the ARV'S use these call outs as training. I am not sure the guy in this clip should be in a public area with a firearm,so we should not just slag the police off because we are shooters
@Pumanic You are missing the point, this ain't rifles or shotguns (which they also have in great numbers) and hunting, the point I am making is that since pistols were outlawed there has been an explosion of gun crime in our cities because the guns are easier to get now.
Someone obviously called the police saying there was a guy with a shotgun, shooting in a public area, they responded using armed police and a helicopter to sort out the problem as they didnt know who or why. The police wouldn't have wasted so many resources i they had known that it was a (i presume) farmer, shooting pigeons.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen sources where it says crime rates are worse in the UK than it is in the US. Gun laws really don't protect people as much as you think, which is why I hope the US doesn't tighten its gun laws any further.
So is this something that actualy happened or is it a DEMONSTRATION like the foot note says it is?... i hope its only a demonstration, they didnt really seem to be very serious if it wasnt
@EnglanderUK Yes, I can, because lethal threats in the home (sweden) are legal to defend against with the same amount of aggression, I could use my firearm that I have license for.
if we were approached by police do we take our gun with us to speaking to them or leave it in the hide. the obvious and legal thing to do would be to take it, right?
they just have a call saying there's someone with a gun not what type of gun i.e. air or bullet so they have to take the call as if it was a bullet gun. take it from someone who's experienced this first hand as i had armed police seal my street off because someone had seen me with a air gun and iv only myself to blame
I have a marauder pcp pistol. I can put it all in my backpack and go to some park where I hide in them bushes. I take the pistol out and starts shooting them pigeons. When I am done I put it all back in my backpack and I go off. I try not to stay too long at one place and not to attrack attention. It is a full proof method me thinks!
No I'm Edinburgh, Oxgangs is actually a suburb there, where I grew up. Well while you got a swanky underlever Air-rifle, I got to make do with that old 70's Icon - a Raleigh Chopper! :D, but my Dad did produce an ancient break barrel rifle one day and took me out to somewhere near Penicuik to plink away. Fast forward some 10 Years and a family break up later, I visited him on the Isle of Barra where he lived for 10 years and I got to use his side by side shotgun shooting rabbits.
With current proposed reductions in the Army, perhaps, in an emergency, we could call on the armed response police teams to help out in Afghanistan. They could have some real action, and justify their existence, rather than holding innocent people at gun point, in what is clearly a ridiculous situation.
What a pile of CRAP!!! people have been shot in this country ( England ) for carrying a chair leg..or a cigarette lighter..or just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.......I should know...I LIVE HERE!!!
How many shooters are in jail for this massacre. Also the governor and the chief of police should be in jail for this. This is why this world is about to end. Too bad, I wanted to live longer.
Good on the Police! Nice to see them responding in a proportionate and timely manner. Frankly I'd rather see more wildlife and less idiots with guns shooting at it. I hope he was charged.
@EnglanderUK Once a country decide to take a turn for a worse it rarely gets better. The black market answers to demand, meaning there is a will to have guns, people don't want change.
firstly he was probably reported by a member of public who can not tell the difference between a real gun and a air rifle .. secondly the police would have to check and investigate any report of firearms in use .. and finally if someone was actually shot and killed because the police not going to investigate then im sure your comments would be much different
This country has gone PC crazy.. I feel embarrassed to live here sometimes :( That little episode probably cost £10k to arrest what obviously isn't an armed terrorist just because some fucking idiot citizen had a mobile phone in their pocket... I despair :( :(
***** Except when you look at it from another perspective - EG, the amount of people living in each country - the UK is on par with deaths via firearms in the US.
@EnglanderUK How many times have anyone taken a bulldozer, killed people, and taken down the town it happened in? I can recall maybe one happening like that, and not one person was killed when it went down....now....how many times have someone grabbed a firearm and randomly killed people? Not only criminals, just 'ordinary people'? The reason for firearms to be more dangerous is; anyone can get hold of them, and it's easy for people to be temped to use them. Pick it up and use it.
@petercar96 but he's not in the countryside. He's in a public field in a public place. The Police aren't 'ill educated' the police react the way the law expects them to. What would have happened had they not reacted and a kid/passer by was shot? We've had some bloody idiots go off with guns over the past few years. Personally, I'd rather they took every precaution in the first instance rather than risk things going badly wrong.
i don't see what the problem here is. the shooter is on a public park shooting pigeon, weather he is a registered certificate holder or not, that is still illegal. you have to have permission from a private land owner and be 50 feet away from the nearest public area,
Yep, it doesn't quite add up. Truly disgusting what this country has become in the last few decades. It sickens me. I just hope this sport is around for my kids in the future to enjoy but I doubt it.
just for small minded people while it is legal to own a sub 12ft airgun it is NOT legal to have it in public how does anyone know what fire arm this guy has untill you can clearly see or are told what it is,

What has this country came to .... so depressing
Remember people, if someone breaks into your house, you can't defend yourself! But Pumanic, the person who hates people owning guns but has guns herself, can.
had a similar experience in nottinghamshire while lamping
even after they phoned me to confirm it was me two armed responce units turned up
Whoa, quite a criminal you caught there. Good job boys. Here, take a sugar cube...
Now that's a memory from the past!, Kays catalog selling Air-rifles! I used to drool over them as a kid :D
i remember going shooting with my dad at some cans and people would walk by and smile. now if i was to go down with my son i risk going to prison because people dont know anything about them.
@moonbear
they will still turn up if someone reports a firearm so what is the point of calling?
now we know what they are doing when grannies house gets broken into and it takes 2 hours for them to show up
I KNOW HOW HE FEELS , IT HAPPENED TO US!!, THEY WANTED ME TO LIE DOWN IN THE MUD, SOME CHANCE!
Did anybody bother to read the description, its a DEMONSTRATION of what is supposed to happen.
@WhitakerSJA I didn't realise it was merely a demonstration so I thought their reactions were a little over the top for some pigeon shooter.
@HighlandAirGun I agree, to an extent. Yes the police have to respond to a call regarding a firearm, but do they have to turn up with helicopters and submachine guns? I don't think so. Good job he didnt have wires sticking out of his pocket
how does the helicopter stay in air with broken propeller>?

It sounds like a police exercise. They use the word "endex" meaning end of exercise. It we use in the British army

I would hide it personally and come back for it another time

@Pumanic How am I losing an argument?
@Pumanic And my original argument was that guns WERE on the street because that's where guns end up if they are outlawed, I'm fore guns being in licensed shops owned by law abiding people.
This kind of BS is only going to become more common.

1:37 to 1:48 What causes that illusion that the rotor blades are turning REALLY slowly?
:-O

This happened to me (without the chopper) for shooting tin cans on a disused railway line, with a catapult!!
3:09 I was so wishing he done a Solid Snake style CQC reversal and body slammed her.

that day the pigion got away
@Pumanic And? That's someone's frustration at the video.
My gillie has a tin foil liner,fu thermals!
they just have a call saying there's someone with a gun not what type of gun i.e. air or bullet so they have to take the call as if it was a bullet gun. take it from someone who's experienced this first hand as i had armed police seal my street off because someone had seen me with a air gun and iv only myself to blame
yep, and the gov't forced EBAY to stop knife sales to the UK. They can't stop online shops tho,
@Pumanic No, because tighter laws never stop the criminals but make ordinary licensed gun owners lose even more of their rights.
man the volume was very high
Difference was it was a sawen off shotgun they thought I had on me. And a didn't. They took me to the station and drugged me!
I have a marauder pcp pistol. I can put it all in my backpack and go to some park where I hide in them bushes. I take the pistol out and starts shooting them pigeons. actually they're called tax pounds over here.
@Pumanic I don't need more laws restricting even more of my liberty thanks.

That makes it more of a waste, of money if it a demo.

No wonder my SGC is taking an age, too busy making films!
The guy's camouflage didn't do him much good, did it? :-D
That was a demonstration if you hadn't realised!
what do you expect i bet he didnt have permission for them grounds
woopss i droped my keys/ and you let this lad have a gun !!!!!!
How many shooters are in jail for this massacre. Also the governor and the chief of police should be in jail for this. This is why this world is about to end. Too bad, I wanted to live longer.
if he wore face paint he would have got away with it
what a waste of our taxes.
Good on the Police! Nice to see them responding in a proportionate and timely manner.

Where is his gun? you cannot be arrested for walking around in camo!! LMFAO

ha that's crazy i live in the countryside in Scotland and you can shoot as many things as you want
cant hear nothing
@Pumanic So why is gun crime in my country through the roof then.
