I just stayed at 14 of the best all-inclusive hotel resorts in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) over the past few months. Now that my Punta Cana travels have ended, I am ranking all of these great hotels against each other. Careful at the Riu properties. They are beautiful and food is good. Entertainment-not so much! When i go to the Caribbean I donât go for rehashed Country Western or Elvis stage shows. I want to hear Reggae or see Caribbean dance! This was disappointing at the Riu properties in Jamaica.

We are at Excellence Punta Cana right now and I agree, itâs fabulous! Beautiful beach, great breeze to keep you cool, wonderful staff, sooo tropical and relaxing.
I hope you do Sanctuary and Secrets in Cap Cana! Those free coco locos may have convinced me to do Excellence though đ

I stayed at the Riu Republica in 2019 which was 2 years after they had opened, and I paid $150 Canadian per night, and Iâd honestly have to agree with you. It is a great hotel, with INSANE value, amazing drinks, respectable food (LOTS of choices⊠close to 10 restaurant if my memory serves me), the service was outstanding and they made you feel at home!
Also Iâve stayed at many all inclusive resorts, and the republics it by far has the best beach Ive ever been to.
Also they give you 4 bottles in your room that you can help yourself too. The mini bar, and liquor bottles are restocked every two days, but if you call down to the lobby they will stick it daily btw!
I canât recommend it enough!

You are right on time! I just recvd some hotel comparisons from my travel agent and several on your list was there. No Royalton, Majestic Elegance but YES to Excellence El Carmen-adults only. Thx to you I watched both of your review vids. Lastly, I'm a foody so are you, it's very important nx to accommodations and serviceđđœđ„ł
Wait until you stay in Sanctuary Cap Cana - get a room in the bottom floor of the castle
1. DJ and Swim up bar at the main pool
2. Best food Iâve had in any resort
3. You get a butler who takes care of everything you need, you can even text them
4. The decor is great, makes you feel like a king
5. Drinks are fantastic
The worse thing about it is the beach, probably the worse beach in any hotel, but I didnât even care lol
You can text your butler at Majestic Mirage too.
But tbh I preferred Secrets Cap Cana.
We're heading to Majestic Elegance in February, glad to see it popped up on here. Between last trip and this one, I've spent about 80hrs in research on blogs and websites like trip advisor combing through reviews and photos, the majestic resorts seem to consistently please everyone. This will be my second time there and I had next to zero complaints about Elegance. Property was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and the food was actually really good. My only complaint was the room AC. It kicks off periodically, purposely to cycle, even at night. It never got hot but it also had a hard time keeping up with the humidity so things were a bit damp. Aside from that, it was a great stay. Good enough to go back again.
How was it? I was pretty underwhelmed by the Majestic Mirage.
@@MrFatperson it was very nice. Very relaxing stay. The room was clean as usual, food was pretty good, especially the Palapa by the water, service was impeccable, and the drinks were strong. The "night club" is kinda lame, it's basically just a big room with a DJ booth and a bar, but I went with a friend and met a few new ones, so we made it fun. The beach is the same beach as the mirage and the colonial, so I'm sure you already know it. I also spent about 6hrs at the spa one day, I was very relaxed after. I plan on going back again this year, was going to be going again next week but I'm holding off since we were looking to move and the perfect home popped up. Not sure buying a big house and going on a Caribbean vacation in the same month is a smart idea lol. I'd recommend for sure

You nailed it! Excellence P.C. is a terrific resort. We have been to many resorts in the Dominican and continue to return to Excellence. We have two bookings this winter coming up, Dec with my elderly mother-in-law and in March for a couples get away. This resort is so accessible, even a boardwalk along the beach, I know that mum will really love it! It is a beautiful upscale resort that really lives up to it's name! Thanks for your great videođ

James great work as always!! Your review got me to go to Majestic Elegance and our group of 7 is going back. The first time we have ever gone back to the same resort property but it is really worth it. Excellence and Chic are now on our list but we are steering clear of the whole Cap Cana. For what they are charging I want quality that is above "excellence".

Very happy to see Azul/Margaritaville made your top 4, especially knowing how much the beach brings down its ranking. Rumor has it that they are combining Azul and Margaritaville into a single resort in Cap Cana very soon. I think that makes sense, since they overlap so much now anyway.

@Juanita R great experience. Food was severly lacking at the Lobster House, Asian & breakfast buffet.
The food was great at steak house & Indian restaurant and room service for breakfast. Room, spa, bars, pools, and beach were amazing. Service was professional & friendly.
I have never upgraded to Club and can't advise you, but I don't feel I am missing anything and never treated differently .
I stayed at dreams palm beach august 2022 and it was amazing. Staff was so helpful it was so clean and food was very well cooked and tasted lovely
I am at Secrets Cap Cana now. Not a bad meal yet. Nice room and everyone is so nice

Thanks for your video !! But as me, is a mistake to put Bahia Ambar on 14 ... I dont know what are looking for but Ambar has a lot of Restaurants a la carte like Portofino and Brazilian, Argentinian, Meat where the food awesome !! Also the beach is wonderful ! I like to stay through the palms at the beach with natural wood umbrella.. not to a very nice beach.. and Ambar has this place at the beach.. đđ

Went to Excellence El Carmen in 2022, Excellence Playa Mujeres in 2023, and going back to DR to do Excellence Punta Cana in Fall of 2023..... They have the best resorts IMO!

The Hard Rock beach is approximately 1/4 mile wide, though seems much wider because it is difficult to tell where the property actually ends. Will be interesting now that another resort is being built just to the west, previously there was nothing for several miles.

Definitely concur your review of Breathless! Enjoyed the resort but the room decor was dated. The staff was great and I enjoyed the service but the food left more to be desired.
Yes!!! Excellence El Carmen is my favorite as well. I've stated at 4 different resorts. I'm taking my daughter to Nickelodeon Resort next year.

Wife and I 55 & 56 and planning another out of the U.S. beach vacation for seven to ten days surrounding our 35th anniversary April 1, 2023.
We have been to Negril Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Isla Verde Puerto Rico, Aruba and often go to Hollywood Beach Florida US.
We generally fly Southwest using points, yes we are price conscience.
Thinking about Punta Cana after watching your videos.
We go to quietly relax and want calm clean beaches and to eat good food but do not drink. Wife needs reasonably close walk to the beach.
We would be grateful for you advice.
Love this video. Have you stayed at Barcelo Bavaro in Punta Cana? Or Grand Bavaro Princess? I'd like to see how they compare to your list. Barcelo was the BEST resort i've ever stayed at. The food was the best quality i've ever had. The property was great but not the best i've seen. Drinks were good. Beach was good. Pools were good. Constantly playing latin music which made it way more fun.
Stayed at Grand Bavaro Princess this past January. Restaurants were really good, buffet was pretty good, but not great. Drinks were not the best i'd ever had - they were all sugar syrups mixed with liquor, way too sweet and tasted fake. Opted for the VIP package and honeymoon suite and got THE best ocean front view...better than the view you showed in your video. The property was super nice, the design and decor was super high end and chic. Beach was very nice.

Glad you liked the Azul. I had commented previously about the disappointing food at Excellence El Carmen, in comparison to your experience at Excellence Punta Cana. I mentioned Karisma Hotels and Resorts, and that I have always found their food very good to great. Looking forward to your comments about Margaritaville. Cheers!

Love the Dominican Republic it's so beautiful. I have been to the best resorts in Punta Cana and I love the food, energy, the people, the culture in the DR. I highly recommend adventure to the capital ( Santo Domingo) that city it's very historical and the it's the oldest in the Americas.
