  • Video Recorded on July 23, 2022: To commemorate this holiday called National Talk In An Elevator Day, I figured I would post this video here! Before, I go further, I ALMOST did not even know about this until now, so I'm glad I didn't miss it! Anyway, I want to say A HUGE HUGE THANKS to the amazing museum staff for letting me film these original elevators here! We first start off with regular elevator. I assume it's the service elevator based on seeing the "Staff Only" text on both call stations for both different elevators in one set. The doors on the smaller elevator sounded quite obnoxious, but the cab, fixtures, and everything else is still original from its first installation. Now the second to last is the GIANT AND TREMENDOUSLY TALL freight elevator!!!!! :D Ohhhh my gosh is this elevator huge! Look how extremely tall the doorframe is! It's like almost 2-3 times my height! I have NEVER seen an elevator doorframe this tall before!!!! You can kind of hear the motor since the fall is off unlike the smaller service elevator, but rather faint. And not to mention, the doors on the big freight elevator stay open all the time until you select a floor. Therefore, I don't think it's in independent service though. But to summarize, this is a perfectly much better take on both original elevators inside this building. Also marking a PERFECT day for National Talk In An Elevator Day, mainly because a museum staff was with me as you'd hear me talking to her and all I have to say is thanks again to her for letting me film and ride! :D Installed in 1981.

I literally almost forgot today was National Talk In An Elevator Day after seeing Schindler Elevator Corporation's video, so I'm SUPER GLAD I had to chance of uploading this video to commemorate! Anyway, I do want to mention the other update is that while I still continue to upload 5 videos each day (maximum), upload activities MIGHT slow down to one upload a day (minimum), mainly because I have trouble trying to figure out which of my content I feel is the best want to upload. I'll try to make it up to a minimum of 3 uploads just so I can try to clear out my computer space as I've filming more videos which is why you have seen some new recent contents I've uploaded this summer. Other than this minor update, everything still remains the same. Uploads will be 3-5 videos each day. Thanks for your understanding! :D

I love elevators with a front door and back door and I always try to get both doors open at the same time and then like to hold them open I’m really glad you rode these elevators!

The small elevator is nice, but wow! I'm speechless about that huge elevator with an epic dry powered motor.

It seems the big 1's always staff only, but sometimes I've seen that small 1 staff only (like in 2014), but then other times I've seen in public (like in 2015 & all other times after that I was there). I think they only have it public during certain exhibits on the "B" level.

That 2nd elevator is insane! I do wonder if anyone looks at the floor indicator being way up there. They should've just put it next to the panel or something
