  • Simple step by step guide showing how to install a dash cam so that it goes on and off with the cars ignition. After installing all cables will be hidden for a factory fitted finish and the camera can be removed without damage to the car if needed.

Very handy well explained video ...Thanks!...I have just bought a 2020 Grand C4 Spacetourer and will use your video (with a bit of adaption) to fit a next-base camera when the plastic pry-tool I just ordered on your advice arrives from ebay.

What side of the roof mounted air bag is the safest side to run the wire? On top of wind screen?

Very nice informative video. Got a cactus 2015 reg and thinking of getting a dash cam. One question for you.
What if the cam has a parking mode and you need a permanently live fuse. Which one would you suggest one use. The radio one is 20 Amp. Would you say that’s a good candidate?

Hi. The rate on a fuse doesn't matter, because it is not used for your camera. The fuse tap used in the video makes a parallel connection, so that in the end there are two fuses, one for the connection used to tap on (20 amp for radio) and the second for your camera.

Connected up to the bottom fuse as shown, engine management light on permanently. Shouldn’t the tap be taken off the cigarette lighter fuse? The bottom fuse is for the instrument panel

Something wrong somewhere because as long as it’s ignition switched it’s fine. But fuse box layouts can vary depending on model, build, country of sale so it’s always best to get a meter on the fuses before pulling them.

Finally used the cigarette lighter fuse to tap off - it’s a blue 15 amp fuse. I strongly suggest this is used with a piggy back connector and a 3a fuse in parallel with the 15amp one. The engine management light disappeared once this was done. The 5amp fuse connection here is for the instrument panel and doesn’t like anything else connected to it for whatever reason. The 15amp fuse will still happily supply any device plugged into it without upsetting any of the car electronics. Why the 5amp fuse was used in this video without referencing what it’s used for is beyond me!

@@richardwoolley2973 Because not all fuse box layouts are the same, I do hundreds of cars a year and see many variations. Either way glad you got it sorted.
