- Carol Howe was good friends with Bill Thetford, Co-scribe of A Course in Miracles and his biographer in the book entitled "Never forget to laugh". I interviewed her for an A Course in Miracles Documentary that I am doing. We had talked for 90 minutes already and this became a comfortable, natural, wonderful conversation that felt like we were two long-time friends sitting on the couch together!!

Britney this is a great interview segment. It got me thinking about how we could look at why any spiritual path that does not involve forgiveness and loving our brothers and sisters cannot work

Carol gave a loving twist to a question with no answer: what is the most important principle?
She answered with words of her own experience without being doctrinaire of only one answer.
It is difficult to conduct interviews on ACIM a non-dual path that can't be explained like we can in any academic subject matter. Carol understands the problem and very gently hinted a way out.
This is the core insight of the work of Byron Katie.

These things that we think can be threatened will seemingly disappear or cease to be when we are totally healed (totally aligned with God) and then we will understand that they never truly existed, like when you wake up from a dream, realizing it was only a dream

Both of you ladies are a breath of fresh air! This is my first time through the course, I'm on lesson 20 today! The amount of synchronicities that are manifesting around me is outstanding! I cannot see myself giving up on the course because it speaks to my soul and my heart. It is the missing piece that I have needed. Thank you for these videos. What’s interesting and confusing I guess is that different teachers stress different principles of the Course. Many stress the fact that we are not the personal self. Or that forgiveness is our only function. If I’m focusing on my brother’s faults and trying to “ learn from them” it seems like that merely serves to make the error real.
Yes. There are many teachers of ACIM who teach it differently. What Carol is pointing too, and what I am pointing to is what it says in the book from Jesus....not our interpretation of the book.
Jesus tells us that we are to be 'other' focused. Example: "As I see you I see myself...as I know you I know myself...as I give to you I receive etc".
When we learn from our brothers errors we are not 'focusing' on the error...we are being honest that there is an error that needs correction. When we want healing for them...we will receive it.
So it's from this humble place of "I/We need help" we can open to and ASK for a correction / healing from HS/Jesus. If we do not admit to error...we will see no reason to correct it inwardly. Jesus asked us to LOOK with holy spirit and forgive with Holy Spirit. Not deny errors in self or brother...but atone for errors in self and other as ONE. Our relationships are FOR our function of forgiveness first yes...and then once we forgive...we are restored to our special function /part in God's plan together. This is why we are each other's saviors. We are to heal together and then to offer healing to others, together. ACIM's greatest lessons and learning are founded in our relationships 🙏. @@MiraclesOfMind Thank you for your detailed comment. I appreciate your taking the time to explain your POV. And please, do not get me wrong, I like Carol Howe very much and have learned a lot from her. However ( ha! ) I have been at the course for a couple of decades now and it is my understanding that what Jesus means by error is belief in the entire material world including the cosmos, and all people, etc. Forgiveness is releasing belief in the illusion or dream.Including my brother. Finding or noticing fault in my brother (which I’m assuming you are referring to the dream figures) only increases my belief in a world and means I think my brother is real. I feel like your usage of error is therefore incorrect here. Unless “ my brother” is my Self. Which would be correct. There is only One. There are no “ others”….
May I chime in? The error that I see in my brother is MY error, because I have judged my brother. I need to forgive it so I can love my brother. To say oh I see error but my brother is not real doesn’t help anyone.
@@pod8234 Hello again. I am being brought back around to this message. Jesus says the error is in our belief in the dream world (and us as the dream figure) as being real. But what IS real is our brother and God and the function we play in God's Plan. Our brother is NOT part of the dream. Our brother is God's Child along with us and we never left God. But :)) since we are God's child that chose to sleep...we make mistakes / error. It's not about not noticing the error...it's about not thinking the error is real and overlooking it TO the truth (of the brother / Christ / love). This does not mean we won't see error....but only that we don't see or think error is real. We see forgiveness available to be received and we see it conceivable to be given through us. I personally want my errors pointed out!! :))) that way I can correct them. It's a loving thing sometimes to say 'hey bro..this thought is causing you pain...want to see it another way?" I responded to the lady above again (as I didn't get back to the Convo till now) and I think you will see more of what I was saying. It's not about not seeing error in our brothers...it's about not thinking the error is real. If we get triggered or think their error or suffering is real..
We must atone for it. But sometimes we can be helpful by showing where our brothers are stuck when they can't see it themselves. This IS a loving thing to do. Cause truly.. This dream world is a world of errors...we are not to deny them..but call them out and one by one, ours along with our brothers, and bring our errors and mistakes TO the light for healing and release. This isn't about denying we or others make errors/mistakes...it's about our willingness to communicate about and heal the mistakes we each make so we can finally heal and be healed. Hello! Thanks so much for asking. Its going so well!! Its soooo much bigger then I expected. So it is also a book, as well as a Doc and I am working on both in tandem. I am travelling to NYC and Arizona this year, which will conclude the interviews and images I need. Afterwards we continue full speed ahead. You say other teachers teach the course differently than you do. What would you say are the main differences between your teaching and theirs?
Thanks for the question. I align with a lot of Course teachers views...just not all. The main differences are that I don't see the Course as non dual. It has aspects of non duality, as well as Psychology, Metaphysics and Christian terminology, but it's not solely a non dual teaching. Many who see the Course as such deny the world, deny our brothers and deny action in this world as they say this world is a dream so no one is here, nothing is happening and there is nothing to do.
For me I know this world and body are illusion but I focus only on what is Real...which is you and me as God's children and Gods Laws, Jesus and Holy Spirit. I have a relationship with J and HS that heals me and then follow their guidance in my relationships with others. Relationships are thus the platform for healing and miracles. And I work to transform all my relationships from special to holy through holy spirit guidance so that together we can bless the world with miracles. Salvation of the world / heaven on earth is the goal here. Not just to heal our mind. And we all have a part to play in salvation that we must accept and give. So after we heal our mind...we must give and work miracles. Many teachers think miracles are just a change in mind then stop there. When they are not. Miracles are extensions of love..and meant to be given through us to others. The non dual perspective denies that there is even some one here to give too. I focus on helping others heal their mind so they can hear holy spirit and accept and give their part in God's plan.

@@MiraclesOfMind ahhhhh….! Thank you for the clarifications. I suspected that your answer is why I was having difficulty following you. The Course indeed is one of non duality. In fact it is the most uncompromising teaching on the subject out there ( that I have ever found). This has escaped even teachers of the course who have studied it for many years. At the end of the workbook we are told our inner teacher will guide and instruct us from that point on. While I think you have a lovely spiritual teaching…I just don’t think it’s ACIM. But Jesus said there are many ways to liberation. If your way brings you home to the truth than that’s all that matters. ❤️
@@pod8234 The Course definitely has non dual aspects...it's goal being oneness is one of them. But ACIM is NOT a non dual path....in fact the only time Jesus mentions 'non dual' in the course is when he uses the word 'individual' and dual is in that word lol
ACIM is a metaphysical , psychological and spiritual tool with aspects of non duality. But it's all of this combined, it's not meant to be a non dual path. The only reason why people think it is non dual is because Ken Wapnick said it was. He also edited the Course from this perspective ..taking away 45,000 words...which is about 5 chapters of material. That material proves ACIM is not non dual. It's not supposed to be. It's unfortunate that it's been edited that way. I would recommend you listen to the non dual video below. :)) I would be curious about your thoughts on it! You also do not need to take me as your spiritual teacher. I am not trying to be that. I'm just sharing what I'm learning through Jesus. If you take Jesus and HS as your guides...then I trust you to them. Having conversations about these topics tho can be very helpful, not just for us, but those reading these comments. So thanks for asking and sharing with me ☺️🙏🩷
