Yep I could see myself on that sweeeeet W800 Kawa !! Just the right vintage look and not tooooo much chrome to spit shine and price point affordable somewhat today !!!
Hard to go pass the Royal Enfield Interceptor at almost half the price of most bikes. And it’s not just the price, it’s a bloody good motorcycle, I knew because I have had heaps of bikes in the past 48 years ..... So I bought one.... and.... love it.
[Ida's nephew] Not only the spokes, but also the rear shock absorbers are reminiscent of the SR500. I have also heard that the mudguards are made of real sheet metal and not plastic. Very good too, the horns under the headlights. But the really special thing is the design of the rear mudguard / fender. It goes far back and deep around the wheel. The distance from the tire to the mudguard therefore looks much closer than with the Kawasaki 900. With BMW and Kawa this looks very "void and bare".
Ahhhhh, memories...my brother had a z900 and he would leave it at our home when I a teenager (14-15). I'd sneak it out and ride it around out on the country roads. That was a fast bike, I'm lucky to be here on 2 accounts, he didn't catch me and the bike didn't kill me. I think that's where I really feel in love with riding a motorcycle. Soon after I worked on local farms and saved and got a Yamaha DT125 with the red and white tank...thanks for posting.
I am a Kawasaki lover. I have my Kawasaki since 1996 Valcun EN 500 LT and since never changed. I love it and will keep it for as long as it takes. The most comfortable Motorbike to ride
@@WildBikerBill that's a very good point. I would say buy from an older guy, maybe a middle aged guy, one owner bike, from someone who didn't thrash the bike and has the service receipts and records
One day they will give the people what they want, and give us an overdrive 6th gear. I've heard reviewers say that the gear ratios on the Z900S are too short, and on the highway the engine is revving pretty high when cruising. It's not clear why motorcycles are still stuck in the dark ages and don't have an overdrive. The 1931 Henderson inline 4 motorcycle had an overdrive, in 1931!
Absolutely true, I have a BMW R nine t 1200cc scrambler version, and on the motorways it is wrongly geared for 6th, its way to revving, and also they got it wrong in first gear, the bike is either stopped or going fast, no in between, you cannot pull away slowly, unless you slip the clutch, bad design utterly!!
@@drgeoffangel5422 Wow really?? Thanks for sharing. I'll have to look up your bike. I don't know all the different BMW models. I'm so angry at motorcycles having horrible gear ratios. Having the wrong gear ratios creates rider fatigue. It creates more noise and vibration.
@@ytrichardsenior haha. Nice. Well I've heard Harley's also have absolutely wretched gear ratios on some of their bikes, and they are screaming down the road at 60mph, ready to throw a rod.
i do believe I'd take the new Z900 over the original KZ900 if we're' talking riding experience. These two look a lot alike, but there really is little else comparable between them. The new one provides an additional 30hp, far better brakes, a far better and safer ride, too. The old KZ900 had a really shitty frame. They were lovingly referred to as 'Flexible Flyers' back in the day. And the suspension was no better than the frame. Yeah, they could be made to go like hell, but try stopping that mother or changing directions. If you thought the speed was thrilling just wait for those spaghetti frame tubes to start bending all around. Yes, the KZ900 is a classic and monumentally important in its contribution to the evolution of motorcycles. But let's not let's allow romanticism to falsely declare it the better bike or even the one to have - unless you're simply collecting antiques.
Yes, me too. I was a mechanic in a Kawasaki/Suzuki shop during the time the Z1 came out and it left such a favorable impression to this day - many miles road testing customer's bikes. The RE twin is right there and what favorable pricing it has. Edit: No, it doesn't lend itself to flicking around like the new version but riders who used them within their limits were very satisfied with them and we had no wrecks involving riding them over their limits. As for brakes, they were very adequate but not for repeat hard stops. The front tire could be made to howl pretty hard under hard braking which was it near the point of locking up. Once is enough for an emergency. On the other hand, we had several GT750 Suzukis get factory supplied dual disk kits for retrofit as it was more marginal than the Kawasaki.
You can't go wrong with the Z900RS. The fly by wire throttle leaves a lot to be desired. The torque curve is better than the old Z1 (very similar to the old GS1100 Suzuki). It handles like a dream and is smooth as silk at 130 mph.
I’ll just stick with the original Z1 which is lovingly tucked away in my garage. Besides it’s appreciating at a record pace. Nothing like a motorcycle that’s gaining value instead of loosing it.
A kick start option isn't available on the new model W800. It would be nice if one was fitted. That would definitely classify the W800 as a true modern retro bike
There is no motor cycle on sale in 2021 unless you count 125 cc Chinese bikes that come with a kickstart, the only bike I could find is the new ct125 trail Honda that has one, but Honda haven't bothered to import it to UK or Europe the assholes, they would sell millions !!
I'd go for the Z900, vintage and modern, has more than enough HP as i'm near mountains and it's liquid cooled as i'm in tropical environment. and the price tag is ok
It ain't retro with a radiator. Now that 780 cc Kawasaki Twin is retro. Had me one (750cc) 40 yr+ ago. Nice basic bike. Rode it all over Florida. Got laughed at a lot. In-line 4 was the rage. Ended up with a V-twin Sportster when I moved to the Mojave. Souped it up.(correctly) and had Many adventures. Ride Safe. Take care.
A retro looking bike for me should have twin exhausts from that period, don't like modern styled exhaust fitted to retros. The Royal Enfield looks great and at that price? WOW!
[Ida's nephew] I heard that the SR400 is still being built in Thailand. Not in Japan anymore. The color of the SR400 offered in Thailand is a disaster, I think. Back then in Germany I had an 1997 SR500-48T with drum brake and a maroon metallic tank.
So schön die Z900RS auch ist, hätte man da nicht wenigstens eine 4-in-2 Anlage montieren können wenn schon nicht dem Original entsprechend Hand die volle 4-in-4 Dosis? 😕
Don't think that z900 looks retro at all. Not a fan of the huge bulbus tank on it... looks too futuristic. The W800 looks much more retro and like a proper motorcycle. That and the royal Enfield Interceptor. The BMW as far as I'm concerned does not look retro AT all.
The Kawasaki 800, Benelli and Royal Enfield are the only cycles that I’d say have the “retro” look. The Royal Enfield isn’t air-cool! What? Non-Aircooled and calling yourself “retro” is flat dishonest! Being back the 500 Royal Enfield !
NO RETRO MOTORCYCLES HAD WHEELS THAT SMALL . MOST OF THEM LOOK LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN A MOTORCYCLE AND A MOTOR SCOOTER . LOOK AT A 60S TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE . LOOK AT THE WHEEL DIAMETER . Motorcycles looking like motorcycles. Great
The Kawasaki z900 and the w800..they do it for me. To relive my sordid youth

z900 & the CB for me.

What's your opinion on Benelli?
Me too 👍👍
The Honda nailed the vintage styling with the spoked wheels and the layout of their bike, that's a true vintage bike.
I agree. They did the best job on a retro. Spoked wheels, air cooled, dual back shocks etc...

totally agree, new one style over soul and substance!!
Waooooo súper 👍👍👍👍👍👍

The Honda CB1100EX doesn't interest me because in the USA it is unavailable. That leaves the Kawasaki, which pushes all the right retro UJM buttons.

Awesome to see they have made this, in this day and age. Nice to see a naked bike as i remember them growing up.
Still the old Kawasaki Z 900 has much more charisma as the new one :o
Agree
The 1972 900Z1 😍
They are not redoing the original surely. If so I'm having one . Might handle a bit better than the 1973 bike
Best looking bike I've ever seen and the Honda CB750 was a close second.
The old style bikes like the z 900 and the new CB 350s are still the best looking bikes.
Ducati, Honda and Triumph made an amazing work
