- Chauffeur Edwina "Eddie" Franklin (Whoopi Goldberg) is fanatical about the New York Knicks basketball team. After she wins a contest to be their honorary assistant coach, Eddie so impresses the team's owner (Frank Langella) that he fires the head coach, John Bailey (Dennis Farina), and replaces him with Eddie. She is instrumental in turning the floundering team around, just in time to make the playoffs. There, they will face the Charlotte Hornets -- now led by former Knicks coach Bailey.

Man many memories watching this movie. This was the reason the first NBA team I paid attention to was the New York Knicks. I didn't get into the NBA until 2001 when I was 12
I'm feeling nostalgic for watching this movie. It takes me back as a kid in the 1990s 😊
This movie always makes my 30+ ass feel like I'm 6 years old again. I loved this movie as a kid lol.
The real irony is this movie was released about five years too early. At the time the film was made, the Knicks were a powerhouse and a championship contender. Five years later, it went down, then up. Ironically the real life John Bailey for New York was Phil Jackson (as president instead of coach).

Also you can see that this movie was filmed in either late 1994 or early 1995 as Dennis Rodman was still at the San Antonio Spurs as Rodman would be traded to the Chicago Bulls in October of 1995.
This is a great movie! At first I thought 💭 but as the story line got going I was on the edge of my seat hoping for Eddy to conquer the world of basketball 🏀

Ivan Ivanovic's lack of scoring made me think of Dwight Howard's role with the Lakers during the 2021-2022 season and LeBron James is acting like Stacy Patton.
This is accurate. Stacy Patton needed someone to play his game for him and to teach him a damn lesson.

As a New Yorker, Kid who came up in the 90s and of course with the Knicks maybe my second favorite team in any sport(behind the Yankees) u know damn well i love the hell out of this movie and have never met anyone, Knick fan or not, who didn't at least like it, it just shows how far off the critics are sometimes...but yea i love just about everything about this classic but the one thing i never understood as a kid and even almost 30 years later i still don't really understand why the knicks were shown to be such losers when in reality they were far from it i mean between 88 and 2001 they didn't miss a playoff and even made it to the finals in 94(right before they started shooting the movie) and 99(damn man 50 years now since the last ring i hope they get another one before i die) but regardless its a classic that never gets old and ive seen it over 100 times..i especially love how it reminds me of my many trips to the garden with my pa and big bruh..i need a time machine asap...much thanx for the upload

First year after his retirement he became a coach and wasn’t a bad one. 2005-06 coach of the year award, but everyone just remembers him blowing a 2-0 to Miami in the Finals, then following that up with back to back 1st round exits including losing to an 8th seed after a 67-15 season
