- DOOL was formed in 2015 by vocalist and guitarist Raven van Dorst. Over the course of the last few records the band has fully established themselves as one of Netherland’s fastest rising bands. DOOL’s upcoming 3rd album The Shape Of Fluidity is out today on Prophecy Productions.

Man, I love how Sarah goes deep into her analysis.
A few more "statement of intent" album titles I came up with:
- SUNN O))) - Life metal
- Reverend Bizarre - So long suckers
- My Dying Bride - A map of all our failures
- Dragged into Sunlight - Hatred for mankind
- Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain
Love the Devil's Blood record in the background. The Thousandfold Epicentre has gotta be one of the most majestic records of the last 20 years. Def gonna have to check out this Dool record
i love sarah reviews, she always deps dive into some really interesting concepts.
Dool absolutely rules. Would never have found them without you. HEAVY TEMPLE, THROWING BRICKS AND ONTAARD, & MELVINS also bringing the doom this April...
Throwing Bricks is sooo good
Fantastic Album! Been hooked and keeping track of these guys since they dropped their first single "Oweynagaat". Given the height of the benchmark they set themselves with their first album, I'm just stunned that each successive album somehow keeps getting better!
Sarah always goes the deepest in these reviews. Always an instant click when she is up!
Awesome to see you back, Sarah! Your appreciation of music never ceases to amaze me. I feel like I could have a conversation with you about bands and albums for days.
Great and lovely records behind you ! ... and great review !! 👍
I like Dool. Hope they get more recognition. Have to listen a bit more to the new album. Listened to it onced and it didn't grabbed me much like Summerland did.
Here's a few album titles from different musical realms I think perfectly reflect the musical content within :
- In the same oxymoronic vein as The Shape of Fluidity, Nucleus' Elastic Rock highlights the tension between rock's typically more monolithic and rigid sound and the more open nature of jazz, while also hinting at its genre's name (fusion).
- For similar reasons, I think John Martyn's Solid Air is worth mentioning (This time, putting emphasis on the tension between the folk and jazz contained in the album).
- A fun duality, in my opinion : Yes' Fragile and BTO's Not Fragile encapsulate two very different approaches to rock music.
- Magma's Mekanïk Destruktïẁ Kommandöh vividly evokes extraterrestrial and martial themes even before the needle hits the groove.
- Demon Fuzz's Afreaka is a portmanteau fusing the band's roots and their psychedelic leanings.
- You can only respect Ornette Coleman's boldness to call his album ''The Shape of Jazz to Come'', but then again such revolutionary music warrants such a grandiloquent title.
Some more that speak for themselves:
- Hot Buttered Soul (Isaac Hayes)
- Discipline (King Crimson)
- Songs from the Woods (Jethro Tull)
- Solar Music (Grobschnitt)
- Blues for the Red Sun (Kyuss)
- Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky (Earthless)
- Crush the Insects (Reverend Bizarre)
I realize you asked for a singular album title, but I figured going overkill with it was truly in the spirit of Sarah lol
Great review as always!
In the past month alone. it's only been reviews. I'm not sure if you guys understood my comment. After March's metal monthly, it was a review every week up until the next metal monthly. I'm asking for diverse content, what happened to "how to get into," overkill global, and what was the point of the Heavy Metal Democracy project if you'll just gut the content anyway.
And before Banger or one of their drones replies, have a look at the channel's most recent uploads in the past 2 months, I'm not even being unreasonable.
it's over
Any plans for Smoulder to tour Australia, Sarah?
Never forget The Devil's Blood, but since then we get Dool, GGGoldDD, and that band Farida LaMouchi sings in, Molasses
Love the Molasses record
Dool - will have to get this album. The Siouxie tone got me.
Hail Dool! I order new Dool album just 2 months ago. I think. But i got it next week 😊
Thanks!
Mad respect for Sarah. She really knows her metal music. And she always sounds like she critiques the albums with love and enthusiasm. It’s refreshing to see her and all the Banger reviewers be constructive and really engaging in their reviews.
I will absolutely be going to your show in Portsmouth, UK!
Nice review.
By the way it's DOOL as in goal, not DOOL as in ghoul.
Neurosis' album titles were statements, I've always felt: Through Silver in Blood, The Eye of Every Storm, Times of Grace etc.
Love this record, its such a strong record in words and music...love it🤘🏻🤘🏻
Damn. Was hoping for DVNE!
New album is fantastic
Could we go back to our 5 second snippets from the recommended albums?
Sisters and Siouxsie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ , ok. I am going to listen to Dool!
Shoutout to Sarah's Shoutouts! 😉
oh shit, didn't know there was a new Dool album out, gotta go grab this one
I saw them at The Siege of Limerick a few years ago. I've been a fan ever since 🎉
Awesome Inepsy shirt.
Hmm, DOOL, don't know about that but may give'm a listen
The best Judas Priest album since Turbo.
I see what you did there.
Lmao
Dool wish they sound like Judas Priest. Summerlands was the most boring album Sarah's ever recommended, and I usually dig what she picks.
@blackmark878 they wanted to get DeKay to review Invincible Shield but he's busy touring, don't know why they can't get someone else to review Priest, like Sam or Martin, the choices these people make are baffling
@@ThatOneGuy7550 I think Martin got whisked away by Pete Pardo. Which is really, really funny.
Not my thing. But thanks for the effort.
Check out the new Horn Album Daudswiärk !!!!! Best Regards!
Damn Sarah looking good these days.
Banger reviews as always!!
this sounds pretty rad.
Dionisiaque is great, by the way
so cool
Woohoo!
I wish I had Sarah's brain when I listened to music, alway the most in depth and analytic.
METAL ?
An androgynous they/them playing goth rock? LET’S GOOOOO
lmao
meh
Eeh...woke music is tough to embrace
Ah yes, metal. A genre famous for being traditional and not pushing any boundaries.
damn even facts are woke these days?
@@IgorUlbrich yeah yeah I get it - but don't you think it's just refreshing when bands just write and sing about 'stuff' - take for example the new Aborted album - it's an homage to classic horror films. No political commentary, no talk of gender dysphoria and all it's euphemisms, no talk of people being born as hermaphrodites. Just classic, in your face metal music. I'd much rather embrace that - just my opinion - but I respect you for yours.
@@creedence111 Yeah, artists should be more careful not to offend your hillbilly sensibilities.
You know you can just not like a thing, and not make an ass of yourself for no reason in particular.
