a couple tips here, with the burger hack the main idea is that if you have a very juicy burger (which a big mac is not) the bottom bun has more volume so it can soak up the juices and not fall apart as fast as the bottom bun, also with the onion hack, a very good tip straight out of culinary school is leaving the root on, the root of the onion is what releases most of the fumes
Not at all, though it is easier. You just need a constant airflow, which this guy wasn't creating because they overtilted the carton, since apparently they don't understand neither physics nor the hack LMAOOO.
I use the upside down burger hack because the bottom bun absorbs more juice from patty, which means it takes longer to get soggy. The issue is you're using a McDonald's burger which has virtually no juice so there wasn't any difference
Uk laws. I've never seen a youtuber get done for it, but *technically* it's illegal to show a product as it could be an endorsement, which makes it an advert. Edit: No I don't know why he's inconsistent about it, but I reccomend watching Tom Scott's "CZcamsrs have to declare ads: Why doesn't anyone else?"
For the upside down pour, you just need to keep a specific angle. It allows for a continuous airflow into the container to stop glugging where a downward one wouldn't have anything, like how pouring out a bowl of liquid doesn't glug.
Yea, the science is cool, but also you can just, lower it to the lip of the glass and pour with the same effect, like why is everyone pouring shit from on top of a ladder
1st one depends on the cartoon or bottle, and you have you angle it right. You were pouring way to low at the beginning thus not making that much of a difference. Air has to get inside so mass in the carton is equally exchanged, so you pouring it at that angle won't work as the liquid is just gonna fall to the bottom. I use this hack frequently, it works pretty well.
This!! The carton they're using in the video is designed to not be too messy when pouring, the upside down trick is for cartons with a straight top, the square ones. Still, with a full carton of juice pouring it at a 90° angle or more is going to be messy no matter how you hold it or how the top is designed.
For the burger it is more clear that the hack Is better because it help the ingredients on the other half where you're not biting the burger, to not open mid eating. I also think that you should put 3 finger on the top of the burger and the tumb and pinky in the opposite position
for cutting onions, you can just put a small bowl of water next to the onion you're cutting (you only have to make sure it's closer than you eye is to the onion).
not true, he simply had a way off angle, the hack is based in physics and let's be real nobody holds their carton literally horizontally when pouring I use the hack all the time with milk cartons that are exactly like his orange juice carton, and the pour is much smoother that way
I see a lot of answers about a wet towel or a bowl of water next to the onions but all u really need is to just sharpen your knives, the sharper the knife the cleaner the cut, the less enzymes that leak out
There is a technique to the carton pour. You tip the carton at a lower angle so that air can come in the top of the opening as juice comes out instead of alternating which causes the gluging.
Aa for the carton pour one, it kinda depends on the actual shape of the carton, too. I pour my Soymilk upside down since the carton is rectangular bc it allows more airflow into the opening that way.
The one with the burger being upside down is meant for pretty thick burgers. You eat it crown side down so that the bun won't get soggy since the heel is a lot thinner than the crown
The juice carton hack definitely works. I think it’s more noticeable in rectangular boxes, not the square ones?! My juice is rectangular boxes and if I pour the right way around, it spills sometimes but not with the hack.
For the pouring the idea isnt that it pours cleaner. The idea is that, on a freshly opened bottle sometimes on the first pour you get to much of liquid and make a mess. Upside down prevents this The idea with the burger isnt that its less messy, the idea is that instead of having all the juices drip into the small bun and on the plate you flip it and have all the juices being absorbed by the top big bun, giving it more flavor.
Also not for these cartons but for the ones where the top is flat. These ones already have a tilted opening for that purpose. A lot of packages literally tell you you're supposed to have the opening on the top when it's full, so it's not really a hack.
put a wet wad of paper towel while you’re cutting onions. onions want to find nearest water source and that’s usually your eyes. if you place a wet wad right next to the chopped onion, they will go to the wet was instead of your eyes.
I recently bought a regular old-fashioned corkscrew. No levers, no rabbit ears. Just twist and pull. It works great. People only think that getting the cork out is hard because we've made the task too complicated.
Put a damp paper towel next to you when cutting onions and it will work better. The particles produced when cutting onions are attracted to moisture, which in most cases is your eyes!
Not at all, though it is easier. You just need a constant airflow, which this guy wasn't creating because they overtilted the carton, since apparently they don't understand neither physics nor the hack LMAOOO.
The thing about the orange juice is that you're supposed to pour it so air can go in. Which is way easier if it's upside down. Which you're doing on neither. 🙃
There is a difference in the first one: You see how the normal one has a lot more bubbles? It’s due to the aeration when pouring, whereas pouring it upside down would minimize the aeration, leaving less bubbles.
The burger hack isn't meant for junk burgers like McDonald's or BK or whatever. It's meant for REAL burgers so that the top bun absorbs all the juices, and it can hold them better due to having more volume.
The inverted pour works best on those with the hole in the corner and no ridge, I the case of that one, you’d have most control if you held it with the valve at the side, shallower pour angle means the opening gets blocked less and less gouging means more control
The burger thing isn’t usually a cleanliness thing. It’s so that the thicker bun can soak up the juice from the patty instead of having a soggy bottom bun. But that doesn’t really work with McDonald’s paper patties
The upside down carton pour only works for cartons where the top is flat and the opening is close to one of the edges. Because then it doesn't flow out properly if the carton is still full. About halfway you can just pour normally again.
You're doing the upside down carton pour hack wrong. That only works when your carton is flat and the hole is at the bottom. Pouring it than upside down is really helpful.
The first one is actually better, you can tell by the amount of bubbles. The upside down carton has less bubbles meaning less air was introduced during the pour
For the upside down burger trick, the benefits is not with the messiness in terms of crumbs. Instead, it helps prevent the moisture in the burger from making the bun soggy as the top bun is usually thicker than the bottom bun. Thus, no soggy bun means your burger stays together.
The first one is better with a different kind of carton which is made to be poured "upside down", also it allows for better control since the bottom side has center of mass and where you pour you don't when putting it upside down
The carton hack works with full cartons that have a flat top surface, as trying to slowly pour it normally would make it spill over the carton itself. Once it's starting to empty it's basically the same About the burger, if the meat is juicy it will likely dampen the bread under it. Holding it upside down helps because the bread at the top is still dry
the juice one is to allow for constant flow of air. If too much liquid want's to come out, then the air has to fill the empty space. In both ways you have to hold it that way, so the juice and air exchange isn't blocked by either of those things. The burger hack, from my perspective if you flip it upside down when you ate the half, then it's good.
I mean, the whole point of pouring the juice/milk upside down is allowing a constant and smooth flow of air into the recipient as the liquid comes out, but that obviously requires you not to tilt the carton so much that the fluid is constantly obstructing the entire opening. Doesn't matter which way you pour your cartons, as long as you hold them that steep, the end result will be messy.
The upside-down burger trick is used more to make taller burgers easier to bite into. You do get a mouthful of bread, but it's easier than trying to stuff it in your mouth right side up (for me anyway)
the juice carton trick is for the larger rectangle shaped ones with the spout on one corner. you dont slop it everywhere when you pour it out the oposite side.
the upside down burger prevents the bottom bun from getting too soggy from grease or any water from veggies since the top bun is thicker. plus i feel like there's lesser ingredients spilling out when i do it personally
I worked in a juice factory for a while and because of the nature of the job we could only go home when our orders were finished. Lemme tell you, scooping from the top of the tubs and vortexing into the bottles is Ssooooooo much faster than pouring from the faucets! With a meter tall barrel you can have one person sitting at the bottom pouring fast using the weight of the juice and one person standing upright to reach the top, stirring evenly with a paddle and occasionally extracting with a scooped funnel to vortex at a similar pace to the person at the bottom.
Never heard of a hack for upside down sandwich holding. the claw technique, however, does actually work. also smoother pouring from a carton is just about how far over you have it tipped.
Tip when eating a French long bread (not sure how its called) the top part is always very sharp and can scratch the inside of your mouth (until bleeding) you should turn that one upside doen when eating because the bottom side is usually very soft and your tongue can handle the sharp top side when turned upside down.
The upside-down burger hack is useful for when the bun gets soggy & wants to fall apart. Sometimes, it can help if the toppings are a problem, but I don’t notice a difference for that (I’ve seen it help some people).
with the carton drink pour, you need to allow air to go in so it can displace the water. tip carton over bit by bit until about half of the opening is liquid flowing out and the other half is air going in. best if the carton is new bc if you dont allow air to displace the liquid ends up doing something like if you spill a full water bottle vertically upside down
The juice carton hack does work, it's just that you had at Tilted too much, it pours the same at the very start but then later on because there is a smoother incline on the bottle for when it's turned upside down to pour out it allows air to get in easier
The burger one, from what I've heard and done personally, is not to keep from making messes its to keep the bun from getting saggy. Because the top bun is larger than the bottom, most of the time, it will retain more juices. But with a big Mac it wouldn't really matter cus those Patty's aren't that juicy, unlike 5 guys or smash burger
The burger hack does work really well, but it's mostly for when you have wet ingredients, like tomatoes, or slippery ones, like sliced pickles in. Your bread gets soggy less quickly and the burger stays in one piece better.
Only thing I'll say is the carton pour trick is only supposed to make it easier to keep the surface of the liquid at the height of the spout. As long as half the spout lets air in while half lets liquid out, it wont slosh
With first one, the point is that if you have the carton uoside down, it's easier to keep part of the opening clear so that air can come back in. With the burger one, if the burger has been in one position for quite some time and the bottom bun is extra soggy, then it's easier to keep the burger together if you flip it upside down, so that the new "bottom" burger is dry and firm. Not a concern if your isn't soggy.
About juise (first lifehack). It's just more comfortable to drink when you holding pack upside down. In that case center of pack don't touching your nose and you can drink faster and drink more
I eat my burgers upside down, not because it’s cleaner, but because the cheese is usually on the top of the burger, so turning it upside down makes it closer to your taste buds (yes this does work) and makes the cheese more flavorful.
For the onion just make sure your knife is actually sharp, and leaving the root on (depending on what your doing with it) will also help. You don't need a piece of bread
UshuLy the upside down burger one dose work,i use it for every burger, but it works the best for sloppy joes cus wene you make them the bottom. peice of breade will absorb the moisture under it, and make it soggy,so the top bun is more stable for holding it together
The juice/milk pour is meant only for unopened cartons because the start can be quite messy. But poured the other way no initial mess. After it’s used up about 25% the method is no longer different. The onion cutting hack can be done with anything. A wooden spoon across, chewing gum. Works the same.
I have just naturally down the upside down burger thing for years. The thing is that, if the bottom of the burger is wet from the grease, and you flip it over, your hands don’t get as oily.
The carton one works way better on a different type of carton that has a small opening. I use it on an offbrand type of soy milk and I use that trick all the time:)
That specific design of carton does not need the "upside down" technique. Try that with a flat top carton, with the opening in a corner instead of in a side
For the burger one, is meant to be more stable since, in some burgers, the bottom bread is so thin it ends up breaking and dismantling in the middle of eating, while having it upside down doesnt allow that.
Another trick for when cutting onions. Put two wet/damp paper towels under the onions when you’re cutting them. My mom taught me that one and it works every time
For the wine bottle one thing that has worked for me in the past is to get a long screw driver and puncture the cork at an angle all the way through lean the screw driver till it touches the rim of the bottle and twist.

UshuLy the upside down burger one dose work,i use it for every burger, but it works the best for sloppy joes cus wene you make them the bottom. peice of breade will absorb the moisture under it, and make it soggy,so the top bun is more stable for holding it together
Regarding the carton pour: this one works with cartons with a flat top (as opposed to your pyramidal top).
The juice/milk pour is meant only for unopened cartons because the start can be quite messy. But poured the other way no initial mess. After it’s used up about 25% the method is no longer different.
The onion cutting hack can be done with anything. A wooden spoon across, chewing gum. Works the same.
Imagine being at a party and the dude is like “Hold on guys, just wait for the cork to pop out. Gonna be like 5 mins”
For the wine one, if you’re not planning on keeping the bottle I prefer to use a glass cutter (especially for parties 🎊)
Like a champagne saber?
I have just naturally down the upside down burger thing for years. The thing is that, if the bottom of the burger is wet from the grease, and you flip it over, your hands don’t get as oily.
The carton one works way better on a different type of carton that has a small opening. I use it on an offbrand type of soy milk and I use that trick all the time:)
If you start the slowly with the upside down one it is much smoother, this is also how you properly pour oil in your car without making a mess
The upside down burger hack is good for when your burger keeps falling apart or has a LOT of sauce/juice ngl
With the onion hack apparently a teaspoon works just as well. I’ve never tried it but my friend says she does it all the time.
I actually do the chip hack at like family functions. It works pretty well with big ass chip bags, and you can easily reverse it.
The upside down carton thing works for stuff that comes in rectangular cans like lacquer
That specific design of carton does not need the "upside down" technique. Try that with a flat top carton, with the opening in a corner instead of in a side
The upside down burger hack is so that burgers with high moisture content don't fall apart as easily
This man needed to find an excuse to eat 2 big macs
For the burger one, is meant to be more stable since, in some burgers, the bottom bread is so thin it ends up breaking and dismantling in the middle of eating, while having it upside down doesnt allow that.
Another trick for when cutting onions. Put two wet/damp paper towels under the onions when you’re cutting them. My mom taught me that one and it works every time
"And I think that is very cool!! 😋👍"
For the wine bottle one thing that has worked for me in the past is to get a long screw driver and puncture the cork at an angle all the way through lean the screw driver till it touches the rim of the bottle and twist.
The upside down pour hack does work for when you're doing an oil change
