- Kotuku Awa or Arnold River - Moana, West Coast, New Zealand
Relaxing hour of peaceful birdsong captured in a forest on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Great for studying, relaxation, sleepless nights and peaceful meditation.
The Arnold River drains out of Lake Bunner and enters the lower part of the Grey River near Stillwater. The river water is seldom discolored, with the river banks in parts covered with native forest, other parts have willow trees over hanging into the water.
We just spent an hour listening to this recording and we were transported to a world of peace and dreams of wonder. Thank you so much for sharing this with the world.
Thanks Gerald. I’m glad you enjoyed listening to the bird song 😀
My love for NewZealand is it’s beauty.. Bird sound makes anyone feel so relaxing 😌 I could fall in love infinite times with nature ♾❤️
Yes, New Zealand is a beautiful country - glad you enjoyed the video
Ive been trying to find something meditative, to fill silence with something soothing.
Ive really struggled!! So many enchanted forests and crafted sound.. nothing was right.
This is so beautifully simple.
Completely complex
And the best
Thank you, you're very welcome!
Never get tired of listening to these birdsounds...wish I could move to NZ! Awesome!
Thanks Smithi - it would be a good move for all of us
I'm blessed to live here. 😊🏕️🌳
Ahh my Homeland NZ. The BIRDSONG is so deliciously beautiful. What a beautiful sight too.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wish I could move back! 😭 Oh I miss home soo much
How I miss Home would love to move back and fish the lakes and just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature (that Australia doesnt have)
maybe in Tasmania
What stops you from moving home? ☺️ 💜 🌄
kia ora Lawrence...thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am yet to visit the west coast. i am listening to this for the third time and its divine, papatuanuku at her finest. I whakapapa to Ngai Tahu the awa is speaking to my bones. Arohanui xoxo
They say West is the best. It's hard to beat it's sheer natural beauty. It was the first place I stayed after returning from several years overseas and it was the best way to reintroduce myself to Aotearoa. It is such a beautiful part of the world
@@LawrenceOGrady hello Lawrence do you copy over....I'm not sure if this is the right way to contact you. Is it possible to use your bird noise in an art exhibition at nz Maritime museum. I'm an artist and have collaborated with school children for this free event. Best wishes Kate Parker

Kia ora Lawrence, would I be able to use a few minutes of this sound behind a Kickstarter video I'm creating to help fund my picture book 'Kowhai and The Giants' (its a a story about trees). I would credit you in the video. I've taken heaps of photos in open sanctuaries but have not learned how to use the video portion of my camera yet (just working it out now). So I am missing sound.... this is great vast sounding NZ bird noise
Kia ora Kate, you’re welcome to use the birdsong, good luck with your book - sounds interesting
@@LawrenceOGrady Kia ora Lawrence, I've tried contacting you through you tube and messenger, I would be interested to have this bird sound in an installation I've put together around the planet, with school children's voices and information around being gentle to the planet. Its a free exhibit with kids art and will be showing at the NZ Maritime Museum. Please let me know if this is possible. Kind regards, Kate
@@LawrenceOGrady Ps. I now have made the Kowhai and the Giants picture book and have just recently won the Best Picture Book at the NZ childrens book awards, I would love to send you a copy or two.
Am I allowed to copy this beautiful bird Song?
Hi Virginia, yes that’s ok 😀
Kia ora Lawrence, I keep trying to connect but my message disappears, I'm very interested to utilise this bird sound in a childrens exhibition, could you please contact me, Best wishes, Kate Parker
Hi Kate, sorry I haven't connected earlier - you're more than welcome to use this in your work
