Capleton, Beenie, Bounty, and other veterans still stand strong because of their sound system roots in the early days of the mid-80s to early 90s. Many new artists in dancehall/ hip hop do not have the longevity or deep love of the music and for them, it's mostly about money which is why they won't last long.

I haven't listened to dancehall since 2013. I used to follow all the artists and grew up listening to Capleton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, TOK, Sizzla, Lady Saw, Tanya Stephens, General Degree, Sean Paul, Mr. Vegas, Mad Cobra, and several other legendary artists. I can almost bet none of these "artists" today sound anything like them. Which makes modern "dancehall" sound like modern "hip hop" today. Bad, terrible, and similar sounding. They done made dancehall bad as well? Bad enough hip hop is trash today.
One thing about Capleton is that he is genuine. Give thanks to my uncle Freckles. I have had the privilege of meeting him and he is the same. It’s not a performance. Authentic
