    I need help with putting the stabilizer in the big hoop. No matter what i do i cannot get the stabilizer tight in the big hoop. Is there a trick to hooing the stabilizer in the big hoop???

      Yes, designs can be easily imported through a USB and edited through the machine's advanced on-screen editing functions.

      There are a few extra steps when you use a USB drive on this machine. When you get into the USB screen, press the Up button. After that, you need to press the arrow over and then your .JEF files should show up!

    Can I use it to digitize my embroidery designs having different colours and having to change the manually? Will the software tell me that it's time to change colours?

      This machine is unable to do digitizing, but you can bring in other embroidery designs and load it on the machine. The machine will automatically stop in between color changes so that you can change your threads.

      @@VeniVidiVici444 You absolutely can, but you utilize the software on your computer and then transfer the file to the machine. It would be compatible with any software that has .JEF file conversion, but Janome's Artistic Digitizer is the one most use with this machine!

    This seems like a great machine but if it ever needs servicing driving to Colorado is out of the question . is there any other options?

    When using the largest hoop, how much clearance do you need from the back of the machine to the wall?

      The machine with the hoop on it to the wall needs about 13" or more of clearance. That'll make sure it doesn't kit the wall and mess up the embroidery.

      Hi! If I want to make my own design, like one of my digital drawings I make on Procreate (1 colour), how do I convert it so the machine will recognize it?

      @@CatoPMusiiic You will need to have a digitizing software that is specifically designed to turn images into stitches. Some examples of these are Artistic Digitizer, Floriani FTC-U, Brother PE Design 11, Embellish Maker, and Pfaff MySewNet, but there are many other options as well. If you don't want to purchase the software or only have one or two designs that you want to digitize, you can find people who you can hire to digitize designs for you. The file will need to be saved from an embroidery software program as a .JEF file format.

      In order to embroidery anything you might want, this machine might not be the right fit for you unless you get embroidery software like Janome Artistic Digitizer to work alongside of the machine.
      The Janome Skyline S9 and CM17 work with the AcuSketch app for your phone, where you can draw a shape and send it to the machine!

      The machine has a bobbin sensor that should notify you when it's running low. If it's notifying you before that point, we'd recommend trying to give us a call and we can see if we have any suggestions to help! (888) 897-6362

      If you have a digitizing software, you can stitch anything you'd like! The Janome Artistic Digitizer is a great software by Janome.

      There is lettering available on the machine, but you may be limited on the sizes of fonts. With embroidery software, you can do anything you'd like in any font you'd like on this machine!

    My 550e was before this new hoop, how do I get the software and machine to accept the new hoop. I bought the hoop. I can not find any help for this.

      You can look on Janome's website for "Support" and see if there's any new software updates you haven't installed on the machine yet.
      If you have the Janome MC500E, that machine did not come with this hoop.

      If you have the logo digitized for embroidery, you can plug in a USB and the machine will be able to stitch it out. The file format you'll need for this one is .JEF files.

      Both the Janome 500E and the Janome 550E are embroidery only machines, but they do have some differences.
      One of the biggest differences is going to be hoop size - the 500E can take up to a 7.9" x 11" frame, whereas the 550E can take a 7.9" x 14" frame. The 550E also has the Superior Needle Threader built into the machine, includes several more embroidery designs, and can read more embroidery design formats. The Janome 550E is also the current one in the line, and replaced the Janome 500E.

      There is not a button to turn something into chenille, but if you have a digitized file for a chenille patch it can stitch it! If you'd like to create your own, the Embellish Maker software program does a great job to do this and is rather easy to learn.

      thank you for your answer... in a meantime I find out that there is a software acu fil and I could quilt, but it is veeeery expensive, in my opinion... cca 500 bucks... so it is not worth it...

      For most embroidery, you want to use a 60 weight embroidery bobbin thread. This machine uses class 15 bobbins if you choose to use prewound bobbins.

      Pfaff does not have an embroidery only option on a flat-bed machine at this time, but the Pfaff Creative 4.5 is a good option! You can choose to either have a small or large embroidery unit with that machine, so you'll be able to use different sized hoops. You can find out more on our website here:

      There is no cap hoop attachment available for this machine as there is no free arm for embroidery. You can embroider patches on this machine to attach afterwards using your home machine, though!

    I am debating between the Janome 550e and Brother NQ600d.
    Which one would you recommend? I am interested in mostly embroidery.

      It depends what you are looking for. The Janome 550e is embroidery only machine, while the Brother NQ3600D is a sewing and embroidery machine. You need to figure out how big of an embroidery area you want, the Janome is 7.9” x 14.2” while the Brother is 6″ x 10″. You can compare other features on our website and decide which is right for you.

      @@RaiedSiddiqui It really is just a difference in interface. At that price point, there isn't really anything major to differentiate the two feature wise. Brother has a smaller learning curve. We tend to find that one more user friendly for the majority of people. But the 550e has a larger screen. I think it really is going to boil down to if want want a combo machine, or if you want the larger hoop size.

      Like which stabilizer to use for which fabrics
      I want to do t shirts and would like to know if it's capable to easily do a t-shirt.

      Janome needles will perform the best, however you can use any standard embroidery needle in your machine. We recommend Janome, Klasse, or Schmetz needles in particular!
