MOTHER AND SON WATCH ELVIS POLK SALAD ANNIE | WHAT IS POLK SALAD
#like #subscribe - Zábava
Your mother is a living legend in her own right, meeting Elvis! I'm glad she made it clear that Elvis loved and supported the black community.
That’s facts I just wanted to highlight that to clear the air from that bad rumor that they tried to spread about him
Your momma was right. His shanty home growing up was three houses from Shaqrag. Elvis had black friends and one special one. He would climb over the black section segregated from whites to sit with his little black friend at the movies. The black community did have a part in keeping his mom and himself fed when Elvis' father was in prison. During that prison time, they lost their tiny home and lived from relative home to relative home. He always had black friends. At 13 his family moved to Memphis so his dad could have a job. They moved into government housing..first time for them to have electricity and indoor plumbing. His black friends never forgot him. When he entered the army, there was one young black man in his barracks. This young man never socialized or spoke to other soldiers. Hearing of this, Elvis introduced himself. They quickly became friends til Elvis died. He also had dealings with the black prison group, the Prisonnaires..you can let someone else tell that one. Sammy Davis Jr and El is were close. Elvis was good friends to Mohammed Ali. Let someone else tell uou about Roy Hamilton and Jackie Wilsom and his laying of hands to one of the Inspirations, praying out cancer..They can finish the story. Elvis was a wonderful man. I hope you discover just how great he was in every way.
Man your mom was one lucky person to see Elvis live that would be my dream just to see Elvis performing live
She meet him before too!! Said he was a great man!!
I was lucky enough to get to see o e of his concerts. It was 1973 in Pittsburgh It was , an still is ! the most amazing feeling I have ever had in my life time. It's undiscribable !! To explain just how much LOVE pours!! from him. An onto his fans.
I seen Elvis twice in concert 73&77
Simply mind blowing
I am always in awe of ELVIS, you just can not take your eyes off of him, them dimples, and his moves only he can do.
It doesn't matter if you were male or female your eyes were locked on him mine were both times I saw him in concert 73&77
Simply mind blowing
You picked the rare unseen version and it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍
❤️💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m glad you loved it and that’s exactly why I wanted to choose this version
father and son, and then "mom". priceless. you all made my day. thank you.
He was a MAGNET. Genius with heart. Probably the best performer of all time, hands down. Credit to his back-up because they were AMAZING!
I love that version I haven't seen that in a while! Your mum is a legend absolutely adore her loved hearing about Elvis from her plus your son mega cute! Thank you x
Awesome reaction loved it looking forward to your next reaction btw i love AJ he is a cutiepie and your Momma is so sweet i love polk salad i make it every Sunday it is yummy.... Elvis was the best friend i ever had in my entire life. we met when i was 17 yrs old. I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted past that one day in time. He was so goofy and fun i loved it. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. I walk past Graceland everyday. love from the one and only Memphis Tn.
I saw Elvis at the Philadelphia Spectrum in 71 and 76 still have the ticket stubs the shows were great
I hope you framed them !!
@@quizzyondemand I did
Lucky you
First, I've never seen that version. Elvis never did songs exactly the same in every show. Gotta say I liked it, but still think you should watch the final version that made it into the movie "Elvis, That's The Way It Is".
Second, I like your mom. She seems like a very sweet lady. And I enjoyed listening to her talk about Elvis. Would love to hear her share more on your show.
I appreciate you LM and sure I will ask her to be apart of this journey even more!!!
I agree 100% with LM..
I dig your presentation Quizzy!
Love your mom!
Much success to you!
God bless!
Yeah, the official version that is like 4 minutes and some seconds long is amazing
💕 Love seeing your reactions as you continue to understand Elvis Presley! The Greatest Entertainer who ever lived! His fan base never stops growing! Looking forward to more of your genuine responses! Elvis was the real deal. Fame and fortune never changed who he truly was, the God fearing boy from Tupelo.♥️
I just want to hug that little boy! Too cute! Plus Elvis is King!
Hi brother, Elvis played here in St.louis at kiel auditorium 4 times , in 1957, 1970, 1973,1976, my mom seen him twice when he was here.
Best to you and your family from another southsider.
He took karate and that is his moves that controlled the band!
Tell him, sister. Elvis was THE MAN. The coolest of the cool. Thank you both. That was so fun.
My word ELVIS was something else!!!! I lost 10 pouds just watching ELVIS!!! The GOAT of entertainers hands down!!!GREAT!!!!
Mom is dope. She said "he was one of our people"! Awesome lady!
Fantastic Quizzy, loved hearing your Mom talking about Elvis and Polk Salad etc. Bless her
Love your reaction ha ha
Thank you xxx 💝
Finally some of the greatest performances ever by Elvis start to drop onto CZcams. Too long has one single performance of Polk Salad Annie by Elvis from 1970 been around on CZcams. There is more guys. Elvis was on fire, and the cameras were filming. We should all enjoy it. Thanks Quizzy for bringing it forward!
OMG I'm loving Mama being there... this is amazing... Thank you Mama for showing up I love it.
09:53 "he was one of our people" your beautiful mum summed it up in one sentence.
I've never seen this particular video of Elvis doing Polk Salad Annie. Thanks for showing this...Don't know HOW I missed it, but I did. Loved the part where Mama camei in and gave you ( and me ) a few lessons about Polk Salad . Always listen to Mama , and if she's an Elvis fan, you better be one, TOO! Great reaction!
Polk Salad is AWESOME!
Loved that she said "he was one of our people"
Never saw this version and I Loved it!!! A little better than the other. Love your mom's opinion on Elvis & so would Elvis. Much love! Requesting Stranger in my Own Home Town X-rated version is so cool 😎
I didn't care for this version.
I love how he does Polk salad Anne it's entertaining
He was so fun! One of a kind. Beautiful.
This is an earlier, less polished version of the one that ran in "That's the way it is" but really good in it's own right.
Your mom is really neat!!
I’m glad you like her and yeah I wanted to do this cause I thought it might be different from the ones that where already up of Elvis!!
@@quizzyondemand Yes, I'm not sure I've seen this before, thanks!
@@quizzyondemand Thanks for reacting to this version!! I've seen it before and think it's great. I think you need to watch it again because I'm pretty sure you missed seeing some of the good stuff. I've heard Elvis never performed the same song exactly the same way twice. He just did what he felt in the moment. Sometimes he'd perform songs that weren't on the playlist, songs they hadn't rehearsed or songs that people would request from the audience. He knew how to choose band members and singers that could keep up with him. Love your mom! Maybe you could bring her in on an Elvis reaction now and then.
I was in That's the way it is. I was at his show in Vegas and in a shot of the audience, about 10 seconds. I was also lucky enough to be invited to look inside of his first home in LA
One thing I noted when I went through the house that Elvis had all the TV'S covered...I asked why and was told that the government watch people through their TV's and that's why Elvis covered all TV screens.
Make you wonder about what our government is really capable of 😲🤔
@@jesureemarino7564 Very impressive that you were at the show. I have a friend who attended one of the MSG concerts. I consider anyone who saw his shows to be Elvis Nation Royalty.
Not sure about govt. watching people through the TV in those days. Today with smart TVs yes, but back then doubt it.
Respect bringing your Mother on!
Hi sweetheart, loved your mom coming in talking about Elvis and seeing him in Memphis, I was lucky enough to see him 3 time's in concert, the best days of my life, will love that man till the day I die, and want my ashes spread over his grave at Graceland. He made this world so much happier and it gives me goosebumps every time I see him still doing it today, only Elvis will ever be able to accomplish what he has done in his life and death. We thank you for your part in keeping Elvis alive. Thanks Lori Sutton TCB 1935. Would you react to Elvis singing Walk a mile in my shoes and it's impossible.
I was fortunate to see Elvis in concert twice in 1972 as a 10/11 year old. The 2nd concert was my birthday present from Mom. 5th row and then 3rd row. It was an amazing experience.
Your little man is precious. I love his input!!!! Kisses....
It's been a minute since I've seen this version. Thanks for finding it.
No problem I definitely wanted to check out this version
Your son is so cute just jumping around in the background the occasional sing along. In years to come he will probably be surfing YT for Elvis songs remembering his daddy used to play them.
I know right.....he is adorable and such a great baby. He is so cute. ❤
Your mom is awesome and I'm totally jealous of her getting to see Elvis. I've only toured his home a few times. Your family is awesome. Tell your mom both his birth home and Graceland are still open and draw big crowds to this day. I went just 3 years ago. My friend went last week and they got the Christmas decorations up. It's a sight to see. You can actually log in online and see it live
Wow.. I might have to go there and check it out!!
And it's the second most visited home in the country, second only to the Whitehouse.
@@quizzyondemand Graceland is a site to see man. I went one time 9 years ago and I will go back again sometime. I highly recommend you going there to see it. Everyone in my opinion should go to Graceland at leasts one time in there lifetime. You would love it. They leave everything as it was when Elvis was alive and still lived there. He also had two planes that you can tour to.

Dude that was beautiful, more of your moms please.
The best version of them all.
Young front men or singers in general should study this man on stage. Now Elvis had charisma coming out his pores but he shows that every little thing u do on stage matters.
Ur momma is soooo cool...very down with Elvis....much respect ❤️
Love your Mom's reaction n what Polk Salad really was. I listened to Elvis since 1956 but only got to one concert Aloha concert 1973 and sat 3rd row center n couldn't take my eyes off of him. I never met Elvis but became friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died. He lived at Graceland with Elvis n got to know the human side of him. They would stay up for hours talking about life n how lonely Elvis life was Charlie said alot of stories about Elvis n I kept a journal on the stories that he told me n glad I still have it. Charlie died in 2006 n I miss him n also Elvis. Get your mom in more of your reactions. Tell her that we want more reactions from her
hello please could you tell me more on the aloha concert i have visited the concert arena 3 times it is a memory that will stay with me forever thanks again for sharing this story with us take care and merry christmas to you
I will definitely tell you alot about this concert but I'm on my way to work in my Covid ICU n we now have 23 patients I will try to find you to tell more, one thing they made the stage 8 feet wide n around 6 ft high Charlie said as Parker didn't want fans to grab him well we know Elvis he would walk over to the edge of stage n lean down to kiss, hug, relieve a lei, relieved a cloth to wipe his face n also took a fan fan from a girl to fan his face n returned it to her He didn't care what Parker said he loved his fans, He said were the ones that got me to the top of this business. Charlie said back stage of all his concerts he 2as very nervous n would have the guys sing a gospel song with him before running on stage n after show he would play piano n sing gospel as it relaxed him. One fan grabbed his left hand with that large diamond n tried to remove it but Elvis wore clear bandaid to keep the rings on. Got to go but will tell more if I can find you. How do I find you. I'm not too good with electronic things lol
Awesome that you brought your mom to this. I enjoyed her story very much. Greetings 🖖 from Germany.
When i was 17 Elvis played at Astrodome and my boss took some of us. Elvis was fantastic!
Wow this version exciting brilliant. Love your mum
Oh how wonderful that your mom met Elvis. It was nice hearing her explain what polk salad is. Another fantastic reaction..but then they always are. Your son is such a little darling.
Back then it collard green and he knows because that's about his family had to eat too. When he was even three his mom washed floors on her knees and picked cotton. IN THIS SONG HE SAYING DON'T MESS WITH ANNIE.😢 ANNIE..LOVE
😅poke salt or poke is a broad leaf plant that gets about six to eight feet high and has a red stem with berries that grow in a cluster. Adult plants are poisonous even to touch. It'll make your stomach turn. Buuuttt the younger plants in the early spring can be eaten after boiled like spinach. ...think collards but tastes like spinach. This song reflects the way Po folk lived in the south at around the time after the depression. My Grandmother was kinda like PSA and she told me all about it. It's fun to watch Elvis hold the crowd the way he did. I especially love Ked his earlier recordings of R&B and Rock a billy music
Moms gets you the +1 on this one!! Great song and reaction... but Mom walks in... +1!! haha thats it.
I’m going to send your channel to my Elvis Reddit group. You have a true appreciation and I love your take on the king
Ayyyyeeee that means a lot l!!! It makes me feel good to knot I have support
Kudos. To. Your. Mom. Sweet. Woman. Thanks. For. Sharing. Her. Thoughts. Of. Elvis. He. Loved. Everyone. That's. Is. The. Truth
its so amazing that elvis was raised in a black community💙
Your Mom is EXACTLY right!! ‘Poke salad’ as we knew it grew wild & you had to be VERY careful not to eat the berries which (at least we were told) were poisonous. It officially was the pokeweed (snicker). My parents were both children of the Appalachia & grew up picking it wild & eating it. By the time I came around, my Mom could buy it canned at the grocery store. I was so sad several months ago when I set out to find some for my husband to try & learned it is seemingly gone forever. My husband is a huge Elvis fan & did in fact get to see him live in Chicago! That’s ok… I once kissed MJ in the restaurant in France at Epcot, so I figure by osmosis or something, via MJ to Lisa Marie to Elvis, I also kissed E😂😂😂
Life is never dull!!!
Love you AND your Mom!
Stay safe & love much💖
It was also called poke
It was also called poke salet or salit. Also, if you’re not from the south you may not be familiar with the way people down here would call a brown paper bag a “ poke.” I think there may be some correlation between poke salit and a poke or bag. Not 100% sure about that, though.
Hello from England
ELVIS died 🙏2 days before my 12th birthday I have been a FAN ever since
ELVIS was one COOL human being
He had The WIGGLE and THE JIGGLE
Women wanted to be with him and THE MEN just wanted to BE HIM
All he ever wanted to do was perform to a live audience Elvis loved people and to make them HAPPY and he achieved this
I ❤️ all his songs he recorded- over 700 but this song is ‘up there’
Your mom is sweet
❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏👍 👍 👍 👌🏻👌🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧😢😢😀😀
Mama's right Polk salad tastes like some good greens, tastes more like collards to me. It really was a staple of southern food in my poor community in Kentucky but I still love it too this day. You can only pick it early spring when the plant is young, it becomes poisonous when it gets berry's on it. Tyvm brother great job 👏 👍 TCB ⚡⚡⚡
ONE of his best performance Thank you for sharing! 👋👋you have a lovely mother!
I’ll do it for you. It’s wonderful seeing new generations appreciating Elvis for his amazing talent. Big hugs!
Haha love the Elvis and mentos comparison ! I’m going to send your channel to my Elvis Reddit group ❤️
I'm enjoying the passion of your reactions. Can you take a look at Elvis doing Steamroller Blues, it's one of my favourites. Thanks
Thanks for the support Joel yea I will add it to the list of reactions bro forsure !
Great performance this could be the midnight show . Elvis did 2 shows a night in vegas . Dinner show and late show
Can you imagine how much work went into that performance? Damn! I'd be done and damn near dead just 3 minutes into it! And then he's gonna go right into another song! The man had to be pumpin' some powerful uppers to keep that up, show after show after show. RIP brother. RIP.
Poke Salit/Salad ...a Poke Berry Bush, the juice from the berries is poisonous but the most beautiful magenta red. It grows near creeks and in abandoned lots in DC and NC. If you get the young greens ( or medium green leaves) and boil them, then drain all the water ...rinse and boil again they are delicious with a little onions sautéed and some olive oil or a slice of ham cooked with them. Yummy with a couple of shakes of Chalula Sauce. And they're FREE.
Your mom and dad are awesome
God bless your momma. She looks like she has a very kind heart. God bless all of you ❤️
Nice education from your mom. She's beautiful!
Bruh, I loved it when your Mom came in and sat next to you. Beautiful Mom. Tell me you went to see the Elvis movie with her.
Great reaction ! I have never met Elvis but would of loved to meet him ! He was hot sexy but yet a very decent good Christian man with honesty and was I think a very strong warm person !
I love AJ on demand... lol he's adorable
Not seen this version...im smiling & didnt even realise it...what a man!! THANKYOU 💞
He have so much charisma ,love miss him all this years, thank for good reactions✌️😭😭😭😭
I love how your Mom talked about Polk Salad. I'm from up north so other than Elvis, I never heard anyone else mention it. She really made the song come more alive to me when she was sharing her memories. That was prob the most unscripted, genuine moment I've ever seen on YT!! I'm pretty blown away right now. Thank you and God bless you and your family. ✌🏼✌🏼
An American friend told me it's poke salad, something which grows wild, she told me it was HORRIBLE 😂🤣
Great reaction, Love your previous mom,,sweet little guy,,omg so cute💕
Wow. Tough family situation. Grandma got eaten by gators; and Mom (Mom!!) was working on a chain gang. And all that for some poke salad! Challenging way of life.
Actually 'gators' refers to Dice,,,,Bones. 'Gator got yo grannie' has to do with gamblin.
Woahhhh!
@@Phoenix7878 Thanks. Never heard that before.
Elvis was goofy off here. UR missing the Real video of ELVIS singing this song. He kills it.
In '72 my dad was winning big at the Flamingo and the pit boss got him 2 tickets for the Elvis show. He and my Mom were dressed to the 9s and were there. Their only regret was Mom forgot her glasses and the show was a blur, but they loved it.
Your mom is cool. There is another version of this floating around that isn't a practice session like this that's pretty compelling and it's shorter but either way, that is a lot of fun. Love the fact that you have your kid in the background but I definitely enjoyed hearing from your mom for sure.
Love the video. I grew up in TN and my dad loved poke salad. We used to pick a mess in the fields and my mom would cook it up for him.
Dude your mom is adorable!
Nay if he’d have been in the age now with electricitcal comp’s and all I disagree it wouldn’t be crazy it would be false. CAUSE This is RAW talent. Real , real Elvis a mike and a band That’s all we need boys . No fake light show . Elvis was the show.
Your son is adorable! Daddy’s boy!
Poke salad is still huge here in Arkansas. Folks ate it during lean years. It grows wild everywhere.. so you always have food even if the crops failed. BUT... it actually highly poisonous. So you have to pick them young.. under 12 inches tall. And always be sure to boil and rinse them twice or it could kill you. But after the second boil they basically taste like greens.
Buzzin' time!👍👑
bring mama back . she knows about Elvis
Another great reaction to Elvis. Lovely to see your Mum and your little AJ is so adorable and well behaved.
Thanks so much Kerry
What a nice mom.
I got you subscribed now bro and what a stage presence some Swamp Rock from Elvis great reaction
Love your mom. Subscribed. You should do more with the two of you together.
@Quizzy- You said here that Elvis was known as a pop singer. Thats not accurate. You can't just say that Elvis was just one type of singer because he was able to sing everything from Rock, gospel, country etc. He was known as the King of Rock and Roll. Please react to his gospel music songs Amazing Grace and How thou Art 1972 performance and you will see what I am talking about.
It was beautiful when your mom came in and joined you for the video. Ask your mom if she knows the name of the famous daughter of one of the members of Elvis's back up singers called 'The Sweet Inspirations'!
Ronnie Tutt ,Elvis drummer said it was like working with a stripper. He followed Elvis’s moves.
I think this was the 2nd show and he was tired. The one that I've seen he's real energetic and never stops!
I was just a kid when I seen him in concert, but have always loved his music
Jane H commenting …. Your little son is absolutely adorable. I love seeing him in the background …. & sometimes another child, his brother or sister?
Nice to see your mom😁. Your baby is precious too! Great video thanks for sharing. Keep up work hun.
Loved your Mom coming in and talking!
I like seeing your mother on your channel and listening to her 👍 Elvis sang gospel with James Brown in a home enviroment ? So I have learned. When Elvis died I have learned that tthey at one point had to take James Brown out of the room where Elvis hiscoffin was because it looked he wasn't going to leave any time soon, so i gathered from what I have learned.
His signature moves in the 70s were his karate cuttas
My brother, we would have loved to see your mom & you jointly review the song from the beginning.
I think Elvis looked like he was struggling a little on this particular evening, sadly ¨^¨
(Precious mom)
OMG what a great analogy.... soda and mentos... that's Elvis working it up... and then explodes
Your mom is to cool. Well wishes for you ma'am. Texas
