vacuum is the absence of matter, and matter will try to fill that space in. thats why the water in the glass goes up even though its against gravity

So for the ppl who wanted to know, when the water came out one side of the straw and water went in the other end, it happened because of reasons that I suck at explaining. Think about sucking air through a straw, air goes out one end, but comes in the other due to the laws of physics.
