    This content is gold. some days are like this - but you demonstrated some real discipline with those great exploitative folds.
    I'm suspicious of poker vloggers that seem to somehow miraculously only post winning sessions with $100+/hr.
    Spelling out the entire hand history must take add'l editing work but it really differentiates your vlog.
    Also, the hand reading editing that you do going through possible combos very much appreciated (it must take a lot more editing too).
    Thanks for putting out such quality content.

    I often hear people complain about not getting dealt any cards to play. While receiving a lot of unsuited non connecters is no fun, it’s certainly better than being dealt the second best hand at the table. You were getting allot of 2nd best hands. You showed amazing restraint and read your opponents well. It was a loss, but it could have been a very short day for you with a bigger loss. Nobody wants to be a nit, but its not an easy feat to resist blasting off with a pair after being card dead. You are really developing that ability to read people and show restraint. Thanks for sharing your day 😊

    Love watching your content Ash. A small thing is the river call looking up those guys where you feel that they are not so strong, such the A6❤. I’ve seen u do this a few occasions perhaps you should be raising? Especially when pre flop raising you may get hands such as his A9♠️ that are better to fold..

    12:30 JJ hand. I think in theory you should probably check your jacks on that flop, sandwiched between two others. But in practice, you probably don't get raised as much as you should on a board that favors them so much, so a bet is fine. Turn, I think you should continue betting for exactly the reasons you chose to bet the flop. You got a *great* card - no overcard, no heart, no 4-liner. So now bet/fold imo. It's the most powerful play in low stakes NLHE. Your opponents call too much, and they don't raise enough. So you get called by all the hands you listed before (any heart draw, 87, 76, yada). If you get raised, you're *never* good, and can happily fold.
    As played, when you check, the button bets big, and the BB calls, I just fold. Button is showing huge strength by betting into both of you. And again, you *never* improve, and there just aren't very many good river cards left in the deck. Everything is going to look like an overcard, a flush, a straight, or two pair, and you won't be able to stand up to a big bet on the river. Fold right now and save yourself pain on the next street.

    • @leehjones
      @leehjones Před rokem

      Yeah, look, you got stupidly lucky, and note that even when you hit your two-outer, you couldn't bet it for fear of the flush. Multi-way, Ash, you have to be a lot quicker to fold - the idea here is that the opponents are ganging up on the bettor by sharing the job of catching bluffs. You said you didn't know where you were on the turn, you had a bet and call in front of you, and you literally had one out about which you could feel great. Just fold.

    10:30 AK in the BB after 47 limpers. You made it $50, I think that's toward the bottom of the correct bet size range. I'd seriously think about $60-75. It looks pretty squeezy, and somebody may want to look you up for that reason. And to whatever degree you get a call or two, you're just printing, because I promise you're ahead of their range. I mean, if they call you with 55, they're technically ahead, but good luck to them seeing a river card if they don't flop a set.

    • @leehjones
      @leehjones Před rokem

      Good point that getting all folds is a great result. Lot of people would say "Wah, didn't get action on my AK." Taking down 4-5 BB (straddles) with no flop, with AK, out of position, is indeed a fabulous result.

  • @leehjones
    @leehjones Před rokem

    8:00 A6s hand. You check the flop - checking weak aces in this spot is excellent play. Turn K putting A-K-Q-2 rainbow out, and the first player leads $25 into $45. You say "Obviously, I'm not going anywhere." I don't think it's "obviously," in fact, I think this is a very close decision. The opponent is leading over half pot into two other players, on a turn card that could easily give somebody two pair, or even a straight. Furthermore, you have the button to act behind you. If you call the $25 now and the button raises, you have to fold. If they call, you're probably toast anyway. And what are you going to do when the river comes and the opponent makes it $85? I see that you got a $25 bet on the river, which screams weakness, and sure, you can call there. But you say you want to practice for bigger games with tougher opponents. Here's the deal: you just flatted the turn, which screams one pair. A stronger opponent is going to blast the river and put you in an awful spot.
    Honestly, I prefer a fold here. Sure, you might have the best hand, but in any but the softest games, you'll have a hell of a time trying to get it to showdown.

    • @leehjones
      @leehjones Před rokem

      Ya, you got kicked - no surprise. Look, the raise preflop is fine and the flop check-back is fine. If they check the turn, you can think about a bet for value/protection, or at the least, get the button out so you can play the river in position. But these top pair no kicker hands get expensive Ash, don't get married to them.

  • @StormCentral1998
    @StormCentral1998 Před rokem

    The 1st hand I like the aggression but I would have checked the turn and river with aj cause 2 pair or flush beat you but called with the ace. The 2nd hand I like the bluff unfortunately in his spot he called with 4 hearts though I can see the call cause you have 2 pair but any heart beats him so that's just on the different player and early on I think that's a call maybe had it been the bubble or later in the tourney you would have gotten the bluff through

    Like button shoved!
    I don't know if I've ever asked you about this hand, Ash, but here goes.
    Dateline: Mohegan Sun Connecticut, 1/2 NLH.
    There's an early position raise to 10 and a middle position 3-bet to 25. I look down and see QQ in the LJ. I'm having none of their shenanigans and 4-bet to 55. The CO 5-bet shoves it in my face for around 200 effective. Early position calls, and, as you might have guessed, I'm not going anywhere. I make the call. It turns out that I'm up against AK from each opponent. All I have to do now is fade all the As and Ks in the world, which is what happens. AK and AK chop the side pot, and I take down a giant main pot.
    I would like to think I handled this nicely. What do you say?
    By the way, I'll be in Las Vegas in September if you want to play with me.

    It's a shame the tournament didn't go well but lighting that money on fire for three hands can't be acceptable, especially when you said you didn't know the players that well. I always think back to the Same Farha vs Oliver Hudson hand at the WSOP as a reason to fold at least the first hand and maybe even the first orbit,but that's just me.
    Otherwise this is great content that needs to be seen as a lesson to others and for that thanks......just please have the thought of saying to yourself "I'm here to play for five hours, not five minutes"
    Keep up the good work
