From an emotional main mission to an emotional side mission is brutal like🤣 as soon as u were excited to see Howard I was on the deck☠️
She was like we need something fun now and I was like “ooop”
Harry was definetly in a happier place when symbiote was on him. He was finally healthy, he was persuing his dream, he was hanging out with his best friend Peter and MJ.
Harry was definetly a little reckless because of the confidence symbiote gave him but nonethless, he was doing okay.
Peter on the other hand is a mess. He has many unresolved emotions and feelings. He still feels guilty over May's death. Kraven literally killed him, hurt Connors, Sandman and murdered other vilains. So Peter already had a personal vendetta. Hunters are keep messing things up for him as well, they frustrate him to no end.
And of course in his personal life a lot of things suck. He doesn't have a stable income, he keeps losing jobs, money, May's house, MJ and Peter still didn't solve every problem in their relationship. Overall Peter was very emotionally vulnerable.
Also symbiote got influenced by Harry's anger as well. Before it got on Peter, Harry was just a second ago bitting the shit out of Kraven, and screaming "I will kill you!". Symbiote remembered that hatred and the second it got on Peter, Peter was in rage mode. So the symbiote got influenced by those negative emotions, and then influenced Peter back as well.
And now after it's off of him, it's probably very angry and pissed because it got rejected. So yeah, giving it back to Harry is a bad idea anyway, because symbiote remembers everything, and right now it's a very angry symbiote. It's just was in a very agressive fight with Miles, and it thought Miles and others wanted to harm them with Peter.

He put his all into playing symbiote Spider-Man and rightfully got nominated for best performance at this year's game wards.
When Peter arrived at the hide out and just completely lost it, Yuri's performance gave me chills all the way throughout. Just pure, unfiltered anger and pain.
Yeah, the second Sky picked the Howard mission I physically winced, knowing the emotional gut punch that would follow
52:20 and that's why Spidey is the greatest. Despite everything that happened with the black suit, he's still such a caring character and he'll never stop fighting for the forgotten.
I'm reminded of a quote from one of the comics, when Peter Parker was stopped by a news reporter in the street, asking questions about Spider-Man. This is what he said:
"I think Spider-Man is a good guy mostly. He tries to do the right thing and he hopes people see that. But he is also human. He makes mistakes. He can't save everyone.
So when I think of Spider-Man I guess. I think the weight of that. That he keeps going. Despite the failures, knowing, hoping, ultimately that he helps people. He's been doing this for a long time...but still... when I think of Spider-Man. I think no matter what...
He's never going to stop trying".

Miles being involved in the whole "Black Suit" storyline is VERY interesting, I'm pretty sure this is the only rendition where Miles is actually evolved, Miles has only existed for 12 years as a character, introduced in 2011. In the Prime Marvel Universe (Earth-616) an early 20s Peter willingly removes the Symbiote by climbing to the top of a church tower and ringing the bell, allowing Peter to rip a weakened Symbiote off of him. This is also adapted for the 1990s Animated Series and is the most common depiction of how Peter removes the suit. Ultimate Universe is slightly differant depicting a young teenage Peter around 15/16/17 accidentally leaping into electric cables, destroying the Suit. The Black Suit in the Ultimate Universe was a symbiotic biosuit rather than an Alien a big change.
Cannot wait for the next episode, feel like alot of your questions will be answered. The direction they went is very differant to the comics and other related media but it's still really cool, more focused around Harry, Peter, and Miles while the comics and other storylines focus more on Peter and another character not featured in this game.
I wish they did things a little different when it comes to taking off the symbiote. I wish during the fight we got a chase sequence either trying to catch Peter or get away from him then he brutally beats Miles and realizes he has to take it off then he goes to the church yo ring the bell and take it off. Then we get a boss fight between red and blue spidey vs black suit spidey with black suit spidey trying to convince red and blue spidey to stay with the black suit.

Oh Miles was involved in a major symbiote event in comics. He was the primary protagonist in the recent maximum carnage marvel event.
The fact that you're giving Kraven some props this episode despite all he's done just shows how well they translated the character from the comics.
Man voice actor for Peter put his heart and soul into this. Such an amazing job
The Miles Vs Peter fight was incredible. I got chills during the fight, and the background music made it ten times better.
Something I really like about this part is that each phase explains peter's mindset more and more. And in the last phase if you leave him alone for a couple of seconds, you can hear him through the controller asking for help. It's subtle and a lot of people miss it, but it's the cherry on top for this fight for me.

To answer your question, yes the symbiote does feed off Peter anger. It feeds off of negative emotions such as sadness, hate and anger from the host. Even from the most geniune person, it can twist them and make them evil.
46:09 Yep this is a real place in Manhattan called *North Cove Marina* just in the shadow of the One Trade Centre and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. Marvel's Spider-Mans New York is extremely accurate to the real life city but of course with a Marvellous spin on everything like Avengers Tower, Baxter Building, Oscorp, Fictional brands and company's, and of course fictional Organizations like Damage Control.
Manhattan is missing most of Upper Manhattan though with the game ending in Harlem making Central Park not in the middle of Manhattan in the game. There's no Washington Heights, Little Dominican Republic etc. Also they had to remover the Chrysler Building when they made Miles Morales for legal reasons which carry over into Spider-Man 2 so the iconic Chrysler is missing and replaced with a more modern Skyscraper.
It's really trippy comparing it with other video games set in New York for example GTA IV a game set in Liberty City a parody of New York City so it comes off as this very cool alternate New York City where places look similar yet differant. So many times I'll be playing Spider-Man 2 and see a location from GTA IV but the buildings around it would be differant making me feel tripped out like "Wait a second this feels wrong". Imagine this is how people from New York view games set in New York City lol
Symbiote is basically like red kryptonite for Superman. It’s like constantly being “drunk.” He’s more aggressive and more easily annoyed/frustrated. Can even make you more overconfident.

Kraven's most famous storyline in the comics is called "Kraven's Last Hunt" in which Kraven hunts down Spider-Man, shoots him with a rifle, and buries him in a grave. Kraven dons a copy of Spider-Man's costume to prove himself superior at his adversary's former activities. The city takes notice as Kraven brutalizes and kills criminals. After two weeks, Spider-Man revives from the effects of Kraven's tranquilizer and digs his way out of the grave. When Spider-Man attacks him, Kraven does not fight back, considering himself the victor for having already beaten and replaced Spider-Man. Kraven tells Spider-Man he can go about his day if he desires, but that Kraven's hunting days have ended. Kraven concludes he has conquered his inner demons and finally achieved happiness. After reminiscing about his past and the peace he now feels, Kraven commits suicide with a rifle. He leaves a confession of his burying and impersonating Spider-Man for the police to find, complete with photographic proof; this is published in the media.
The fight with Pete and Miles was so emotional. I had to cry when Pete ripped that Symbiote off his body. I was just so glad to see that the old Spider-Man was back. Awesome Video, Sky! I love your playthrough. It's also so nice to see that you're so emotional playing this. Makes me happy

The symbiot doesn’t feed off anger. The Symbiot feels nice knowing that you’re losing control over yourself and it will have more control over you it manly just wants a valuable host. But that’s just the way I think of it. 13:02

This was a great episode, Peter vs Miles, Peter coming back and the Howard side mission, what an emotional roller coaster.
And answering on 13:14: yes, the Symbiote feeds on Peter’s anger but also as it has a mind of its own, it manipulates the host thoughts.

That Peter vs miles fight was so epic & emotional, you could feel miles desperation to save peter, it really did come full circle, spider-man saving miles in the first game & taught him how to fight & now miles saving Peter.
Best line of the entire game was Pete saying “Spider-man didn’t save me back there, Miles did” bravo insomniac
Agreed. Miles has looked up to Spider-Man since he was a kid. Once getting to know the man behind the mask and being taught by him, Miles cares a ton for Peter and would do anything to save him. Their bond is great.

I have seen Peter with the symbiote during all my life, I never saw him been so close to become this monster that he is in this part of the game, normally he is just angry, Insomniac made Peter become literally a monster, I absolutely love this!
2:53 FWIW I like seeing the upgrade stuff because it provides context, informs the viewers and it feels like you are progressing and moving forwards.
So regarding Peter's personality change, in the comics actually the black suit never affected Peter's behaviour in a negative way or "corrupted" him. And it didn't make him stronger either. The symbiote simply offered 2 very handy features: it's own webbing (which never made him run out of his web fluid again) and the quick change of clothing as the suit could change appearence to mimic any outfit. The sole reason Peter got rid of it in the original story was after finding out the Symbiote was actually a living being that got the wrong idea of what Peter wanted to do and started taking over his body to be Spider-Man while he slept. That creeped him out. It was trying to help him but the relationship became invasive and was more than what Peter was asking for between having a somewhat normal life and doing his superheroing. The symbiote only became resentful and hateful when Peter left it. The Symbiote affecting the personality of its hosts is a concept introduced in the 90's Spider-Man Animated Series.
I love the Peter-Miles fight it really feels like the fight against the mimic tear in Elden Ring, youre fighting someone you not only know but come to love as a character and its so heartbreaking. Love youre reactions to their interactions. Also the beautiful violin in the background of Miles and Peter´s battle theme is such a great touch, truly hightens the emotions in the fight.

From what I remember of the Symbiote it feeds on the emotions(mostly anger)of its host giving them an increasingly hostile personality at times especially an addiction to it. The longer the host is exposed to the symbiote like Peter has been in the game the more overpowering this state of mind becomes as you can see by his total character change
I personally think it's pretty sad you can hear Peter's pain during the Miles part but he can't let go because of the suit

Btw, when you stop crimes, it’s random that Miles or even Yuri/Wraith will join you and help you out. You can also high five or interact with them after you stop the crime
The gist of it is that the symbiote basically feeds on the repressed emotions of the host. For Peter, he's had to swallow his anger time and time again whenever someone he knew got hurt because emotion would cloud his judgment, leading him to do something he wouldn't come back from. The symbiote puts out his inner frustrations on full display and I think Yuri Lowenthal did a stellar job in conveying that rage.

I knew when you got to the Howard mission it would break your heart and after the fight with Peter it was an emotional 1, 2 punch right to the heart.

13:03 The symbiote suit (at least when it comes to Peter) is just supposed to exacerbate the negative personality traits that Peter already had before he got the suit such as insecurities or ego, basically cranking them up to 11, but in the game they do a really bad job at portraying this as Peter essentially has 0 bad traits to exacerbate he is a goody two shoes with little to no interpersonal conflict before receiving the suit so it just makes it look like it completely changes his personality instead. Especially noticeable with the lines Peter says during the fight with Miles about him "always being in the way" or being beneath him, he doesn't display the sentiments in any shape war or form before getting the symbiote suit so they kinda just come out of no where lol

YESSS!! I've been waiting for this episode! This is definitely my favorite part of the game. These missions are so damn good. And yeah, back-to-back sad emotions with Miles vs. Peter, then the Howard mission. So emotional, but beautiful.
Discovered this channel after finishing Spider-Man 2. It's really interesting to get a different perspective on these games, from someone with no prior knowledge. Though I haven't started watching Spider-Man yet. I just finished watching The Last of Us playthrough and will start Part 2 soon. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic video really enjoyed your reaction to both the symbiote and the evolving parallels between Peter and Miles, both have their fair share of darkness inside them but always look for the light. The symbiote just increases the regrets and anger that Peter has bottled up inside for so long.

I've played through his mission so I must say as soon as you took the Howard mission I was like... uh oh... But as a silver lining I was riveted to see how you'd take that last hit. Bravo, this was a great episode.

Your reaction to the symbiote speaking for the first time was golden. The story can get real emotional but do t worry, I think insomniac made most of us cry 😂. The bird side mission’s conclusion is worth it imho. It’s also easier to follow the slipstream if you use both thumb sticks.

I've been waiting for this episode to drop. Ngl, Sky is one of the best with the combat but her reaction is what hooks me.
The symbiote is saying kill because it's amplifying peters negative thoughts. It's not just the symbiote telling peter to kill kraven because it wants to. Pete would never kill, but that does not mean he never though about doing it out of anger or how it would actually make his job easier because villains would not come back.
I was waiting for the Howard mission. I was bawling like a child at the end

I replayed the first spiderman game in anticipation of this game and i still have no idea when martin li learned peter is spiderman
Also i think the negative effects of the symbiote was more apparent in peter - and also more attracted to peter as shown in earlier cutscenes - is because it is impressed by peter’s powers and wants to bond with it
So the symbiote naturally increases it's hosts aggression while they are conscious no matter who wears it. The difference between Harry and Peter wearing it, was that Harry was only conscious with it on for a few days and had nothing but joy being a superhero and seeing his friends again. But only grew more aggressive like Peter when Kraven stabbed him. And Peter has more stress in his life and past which is why Peter became more aggressive much quicker than Harry in his fighting and personality. You see this with his suit design appearing more and more intimidating. And it also shows the bond between The Symbiote and Peter getting stronger as Peter could hear the Symbiote telling him to kill Kraven and Miles.
It is getting really exciting now with the Venom exo suit taking over Peter and
controlling his mind, Miles is on his own fighting solo looking for Li and Kraven
hunting for all of Spideys villains, along with Jameson's ranting i'm really liking

Your ability to parry is actually so impressive sky, I never got used to that mechanic after playing both of the first games
The symbiote only affected Peter’s mood in recent versions of the character. Until the 1994 series it never changed his behavior, Peter simply didn’t like the idea of a living costume. But yes. It would’ve affected Harry the same. It even is the one speaking to Harry as Norman in his nightmare at the beginning

Side note since Sky called the symbiote an exosuit, its not really explained in the game but since the symbiote bonds the way it does its kinda entwined with Peters genes and his mind (at least that's how I think of it.) Imagine trying to remove that from your body 😬

Another great video Sky, especially the bit with Howard and the Pigeons after such a heavy part earlier in the play through😎. It was sad that Howard passed on, but it was a nice mission and wrapped his story and journey up quite nicely I thought.

The suit found Peter to be the perfect host it is like a toxic girlfriend/boyfriend it brings out the worse in u to make u isolated so u have nothing but it it was tamed when it was with Harry but it always wanted Peter hence why it acted a lil funny with him u will see with a few other people it feeds off of ur darkest emotions because it makes u more dependent on it if u treat everyone like shit u won’t have anyone to depend on and that’s where the suit comes in literal like a toxic girlfriend or something

this has a chance of happening when random crimes happen throughout the city and it's not just with miles it can also happen with yuri and for a brief time with harry and you can even high five them
I feel like this specific episode has been really great and the connection between two of them really shows that how much they care about each other!
As you mentioned about them trying to relate to the first game, it's really amazing to see + the BGM for Miles Morales really does make you feel like we all have our own inner demons to fight, but we still try to come up and do what needs to be done.
Howard's untimely demise, setting the pigeons free, Peter trying to be Peter once again, after the symbiote suit; it really did make a difference in this episode. It really makes you feel like Spider-Man is a human at the end of the day and he also needs the normal life activities like sitting down near the ferry terminal, talking to people or even just randomly swinging by Brooklyn Bridge, flying over Queens and what not!
Thank you again for doing the gameplay, l might not have played the game yet, but I am hopeful that I can do it in the near future ~
