My favorite part is at 10:05 when he says dragonlash is "only +1" and since you can jab a throw attempt then it's a mixup for ken as well 🤡
@@curupa66 what he probably meant is that it's not a guaranteed throw/strike mixup due to spacing, and Ken has to risk to get a grab there, so it's not as one-sided as "real" strike/throw 50/50s are, which is true. But i'm 99.9% that if it was jp he was talking about, it'd be something like "omg it's cheapest thing ever, nerf this guy" 😂

This guide demonstrates why fighting Ken is so hard. The amount of WORK you have to put into this matchup is insane. For instance, you gotta recognize the Jinrai with sound cues (!), and react immediatly, but differently depending on the distance. All this during a match, with the pressure etc. I know it's just beyond my ability as a casual player.
Thank you very much for the video though, I bet it's going to help more advanced players.
While other characters are like "ex is plus, other versions are punishable", ken has a whole flowchart on how to behave against a single special move

This is a 5D chess move so that during the next tourney pros will be using this guide and try to do things in ways to stop Angrybird, but he has already devised a playstyle to counter a counter. Truly Genius.
He went over basic fundamentals that most already new about. Nothing genius about it really, just straight up facts.

Most Japanese players actually do this, especially back in sf5 they’ll share tech with other players then surprised them with counter tech that forced them to find counters, pretty smart tbh.

If one option (ken jabbing) beats every opponent option it's not a mixup at all. That's hella bait.
No it’s not . He’s saying the Ken is +1 and his jab is 4 frames . Throw is 5 . So the jab and throw come out on same frane

Jinrai is still completely broken, listening out for a slight difference in sound and then reacting is your only option lol
Delay jab covers light & medium Jin rai. Ken gets hit doing light. Your jab doesn’t come out if he does the medium. You only really need to listen for heavy.
@@Duppy-tq4mg It's still a huge amount of work when compared to other cast members. Other characters are like "ex is plus, otherwise it's punishable".
Then ken has "you have to listen to what he says and do delay jab to either interrupt him or eat a counterhit combo".
There's no single move in recent FG history that the best tip you have is "listen for the sound cues!!!!"
@@Duppy-tq4mg I will need big "Press X to doubt" on this one. There's a gap of 5 frames on Ken's light Jinrai into low-followup, and there's only 1 frame gap on medium.
If you delay your jab by 1 frame - you'll punish light Jinrai, but will still get hit by medium.
If you delay your jab by 2 frames - you'll block medium Jinrai, but you'll trade with light. And that trade won't be in your favor, because Ken will be +10 after that.
So no, delaying a jab is not an option.
Just drive impact the jinrai if they always mash it
@@curupa66lmao you're so wrong on that. There are plenty of moves that rely on sound cues, the problem is that you only play SF6. There are far more degenerate moves in other games than Jinrai
What is also amazing about these guides is the timing, now that we don't have tons of characters it's easier to digest all these information.

Even with this guide, most players simply won't be able to deal with the jinrai kicks, it's broken. Either those kicks, his cr mk, or his corner carry needs to be nerfed.

Yeah that was news to me too. In Super Turbo, Ken had a similar trick called “juice kicks” that you could use offensively. Really funny to see he has it kinda in this game too. Pay attention to his inputs, he tiger knees the motion, so that’s something to practice!

I appreciate the time you put into this, but what i got from this is that Ken is only countable by someone with DP, or a light attack that isnt stubby. I play Lily, and it is a guessing game in Ken's advantage the entire game. She has the stubbiest 4 frame normal, and her standing lp is 6 frames, so can't punish jin rai
I was thinking the same thing, She has to hold so much extra pressure and her punishes don't hit as hard either.
Honestly just play someone else.
The character is bad and boring at every level, opponents are gonna bully you regardless.

@RenanRossignattideFranca yeah I find her fun as well. I am just hoping for a small tweak to make her better. I hover around 1620MR and I know it is also a skill issue, but I struggle to get any higher because of the amount of Kens and JPs that are around
I agree she needs adjustments but for now she's all about the od condor spire and has little going beyond that... But until she does get them, I can't imagine playing her.
I feel like sf6 can be frustrating on its own, by playing a character I believe in I'm at least objective about my losses instead of making excuses and can enjoy the game more.
I like how the shinrai kicks always involves guessing or taking a risk for the defending player. I saw a set in which even Tokido and Xiao Hai were getting hit with Shinrais. The move by itself its not bad, the problem, is that Ken can easily confirm into his level 3.

Ha, I’m an Ok Ken who should be in D3, but have ranked anxiety, so I placed in Plat 1, down to Gold 2.

Yeah, in other words the move is still way too good. And that's on top of an already great character and moveset.
that's basically every move in a fighting game. You, as the player, just do stuff and your opponent has to react to them or he loses. Counterplay is always way harder because it requires good reflexes, labbing and space awareness. Ken is still pretty degenerate, I especially hate playing against Kens on Modern control because I know the person behind the controller has no idea about any of the fundamentals and just wants to spam the special move button, but learning is part of the game and let's be honest, if you really put in the effort and lab him, you'll start losing braincells by how easy it would be to stomp those Kens in ranked, since they were never exposed to having to adapt to playstyles. They just want to spam Jinrai into drive impact and cheese out wins with EX DP

As a Modern Zangief main, i must say i enjoy piledriving every Jinrai i defend, i literally want them to do it
@FGCBirds as a Marisa main I am looking forward to more anti-character guides, I will definitely be using the guile, JP and Ken anti guides as well as Dee Jay as a brand new fighting game player pretty much everybody in this game character wise royally pisses me off so I figure, instead of complaining let’s just gain better knowledge of how to fight the characters instead.

So why just one special (jinrai) should give you such a big mental stack on top of every other moves he got? No other character has such a complex special. This one move is basically the whole Lilys kit

Standing hp and crouch mk are the real criminal Ken moves. Jinrai and dragon lash are annoying sure but those 2 normals man.. it's bullshit. 😂
So that was a good point to watch his meter to know when to expect crouch mk. Because if you get hit by 1 crouch mk it's GG.

Jinrai being obtuse only clue is audio. Shouldn't be that way.
Dragonlash I find it easier to stop it than deal with it. It feels like to much guessing both ends and I lose no matter what.
Cr Mk and HP are the two problem normals and I get mixed results on that. But usually getting counter of 2 of these per round solves it.

It's true. We were doing a group cab queue and a Master Blanka showed up. Did stuff I've never seen before. Blanka is actually kinda insane, and since he's not the most popular character, he still has surprises for a lot of us.

The amount of times my reversal DP got blocked after medium Jinrai because of the spacing 🙂 I would like a word 😂 DP isn’t 100% guaranteed
Not sure who you are playing but heavy versions of DPs go slightly more forward. If you got a 6f you can interrupt between the 1st & 2nd hit. Chun lee’s DP might miss regardless though.
@@Duppy-tq4mg I play Juri and her DP goes FAR. It’s 6 fr start up but even with Ken being -7 at some ranges it won’t connect on the first frame and he’ll be safe. It’s happened to me more than three times 😂

How can I recognize light jinrai? They seem to sound all the same;
Also I would suggest to move the camera square to the top right of the corner,on the bottom centre it covers up the training stage ground distance.

Being minus 4+ didn't always mean you're punishable. If the backlash takes you out of range of a 4 framer, then it's still safe.

If I ever get a perfect parry combo I always use it for positioning and Oki
4:59 medium Jinrai can always be punish with OD DP, it doesn’t matter if your opponent do the low kick follow up or not
If done from something like low forward at max range Ken's OD dp is not guaranteed . It just works more often than not.

This just proves there's really no 100% way or OS to beat jinrai, which is the reason why people are complaining (wrong punish/guess and you're gambling at least 25% with oki) . And you can't really pressure him in the corner for more than 5 seconds.

@@solaymantadmori1447 M Jinrai doesn’t have enough recovery frames on the kick to DI back. Believe me I’ve tested and had it happen. Unless you meant don’t do anything in the gap, in which case it comes down to spacing.
agreed, all this video did was reinforce that even the pros can't fully describe ken and why he feels so busted.
I chalk it up to him benefiting the most from DR because he already enables a chaotic random mixup style. Adding DR to the mix makes that even harder to predict, not to mention that DR eats inputs.
Invincible reversal is always a guaranteed punish.
Some great stuff, but this just shows how strong Ken is lol. 85% of this matchup is on the other player to make the reads lol
